Mr. Marmo pointed out exactly what the problems were and how to remedy each problem. He carefully explaining exactly what to do and assured me that everything would be detailed in the report, which he said that he would finish for me over the weekend and get back to me the following Monday.

We just purchased a new townhouse and looking to do some renovation. The trend these days are open-floor plan layout and so we sought out advise of friends, family, and contractors to determine if a free standing wall that seperates the kitchen and livingroom was load bearing. We were getting mixed advice and so we decided to look for a structural engineer to provide us with an "official" answer on this topic. Anthony is exactly that; a professional and expert. He was by far the most informative and helpful on the topic - i'm glad i found him. His services performed was exactly what i was looking for. I think he actually went above and beyond, because we hired him just looking for a evaluation to determine whether a wall was load bearing or not -- a Yes or No answer.... and was willing to spend some extra time answering my bolt-on extra questions and options. I would definately use Anthony in a heart-beat again for any structural related inquiries or any potential home inspection services. You can certainly believe all of the posiitive reviews - it is all in-line. Highly recommended.

He did a visual inspection, he took pictures. Made a recommendation to pick up some tiles to determine if leak was coming thru newlly installed porch tiles. If so, one option was to redo entire porch, or less expensive option was to try using a sealant.

Very detailed report. Still waiting to do the work he says needs to be done. If he right on what he thinks is wrong he's worth his weight in gold. Not really sure how other engineers send the results but his seemed detailed and easy to understand.

Before Mr Marmo I had three roofing companies came in for inspection and all of them recommended a complete roof replacement. Only one of the three companies went up to the attic before they made the recommedation. I didn't think a roof replacement would solve the sagging problem so I decided to hire an engineer. Mr Marmo, being an independant inspector and engineer, gave the roof a thorough inspection and found that a couple of roof rafters are split down the middle and that they are no longer able to hold the loads applied onto them which are causing the roof to sag. He explained to me how to fix the problem which is only a small project. He also assured me that there is no immediate need to replace the entire roof. For $500 I avoided a costly and unnecessary project, obtained the peace of mind and the knowledge of exactly what the problem is and how to fix them. Mr Marmo is very punctural - in fact he arrived half hour before the appointment, very professional and very knowledgeable. I highly recommend Mr Marmo to anyone who is considering a major renovation or a purchase.

Anthony looked over the property in detail and provided recommendations in a written report that the seller agreed with and paid for repairs. He also pointed out some walls that he suggested could be architectural that could be removed if he was able to see the structure. So far so good, love the home!

I called Anthony because we were concerned that our house was settling; we were noticing cracks in the walls and subtle dips in the floors upstairs. He was cordial and professional during our initial phone call, sounded very knowledgeable about house construction and structural issues. He was flexible about our meeting time, and was able to come within a week. He called ahead to confirm the day before, and arrived right on time the day of the appointment. Anthony was thorough as we went through the house together. He included us on his inspection, sharing his observations and assuring us that things were not as bad as we had thought. It was very comfortable working with him. He spent about an hour looking at the inside and outside of the house. After he had finished his inspection, we spoke about his observations and he made a few recommendations to us, along with a suggested timeline. A few days later he followed up with a written report that he sent via email. It included everything we spoke about following the inspection, and included pictures of what he observed. The only downside was that his fee was a bit higher than the other companies we considered; but I figure you get what you pay for! I would highly recommend Anthony to anyone who needed a structural assessment.

I was very pleased with AFM Inspections & Engineering, particularly Mr. Anthony Marmo's service. I was concerned about the foundation and basement walls of my home, and after conducting an inquiry for structural engineers, within minutes I received a call on a Sunday afternoon from Mr. Marmo. Due to my busy schedule, he responded promptly within the hour and conducted an inspection of the foundation and basement of my home. During the inspection, Mr. Marmo explained the problems that I was having with my basement walls, how it occurred, and provided me with the knowledge of how the repairs should be done by a contractor. Within a few days Mr. Marmo provided me with a detailed written report, which included photo's and a narrative of his findings. He also provided recommendations of how the repairs should be correctly performed. My overall experience with AFM Inspections & Engineering was excellent.

Mr. Marmo, the engineer, showed up promptly. He looked over all the cracks in my garage walls and took pictures He then sent me a report & photos explaining what had to be done, so that I could show it to mason contractors & get estimates.

My wife and I had concerns about the creaking and cracking sounds from the house. A few years ago, we had major renovations done to the house and we were afraid that the structural integrity of the house was not able to withstand the additional weight added or that the contractors compromised it somehow during the renovations. We called Anthony based on the recommendation of my brother-in-law. Anthony responded to my initial inquiry promptly and professionally. I explained all the details about the renovation and set a time for him to come to the house and evaluate and report his findings. On the day of the appointment, he checked everything from attic to basement, taking notes, taking pictures, and asking a lot of questions about the renovations and what exactly was done. We had a lengthy discussion literally about everything. We also received a thorough report, with pictures, that had his findings and remediation steps. Luckily, there does not appear to be any structural problems, but now we have piece of mind.

We purchased our home in 2008. It was a new construction and over the past 6 years we have been noticing more and more issues with the home with regards to what some may consider "normal settlement of a new home" After doing some research online, the issues we had could be considered that, but there were other issues which may or may not be related to a structural issue. Being that we have a warranty on the home, we needed an independent engineer to inspect the home and perform a thorough analysis of the dwelling. We contacted Anthony being that he was in the area. Our first communications with him was over the phone and immediately you know that this man is extremely knowledgeable. He asked us all the right questions and was able to answer as much as he could over the phone. He was able to schedule an appointment immediately due to our need to act fast with regards to the warranty. Anthony showed up at our home on the agreed time and immediately went to work. He did a thorough inspection of the exterior of the house. Then upon entering the house and us showing him the problem spots. He immediately knew where to focus on with regards to the measurements. He did not rush, and made sure every possible angle was covered. He also gave us a detailed description of everything he did, why he was doing it, and made sure the results were explained in a fashion where non engineers could easily understand. We needed to open up some of the walls in order for Anthony to investigate further. We set a date about a week later to have a contractor come over to open up the walls that Anthony marked off. once Anthony was able to access the bones of our house, his suspicion was confirmed. He easily identified a load bearing wall in our home that was not installed to code. Thus the weight of the second floor of our house was not being distributed evenly across the load bearing walls causing it to sag. All that aside, we have high praise for Anthony. He is very fairly priced, especially for the amount of work he performs. He was able to provide us with a detailed engineering report on our house in less than 2 days after. His diligence with regards to addressing his clients needs is stellar. I honestly hope i will never have a need to hire another structural engineer (in the hopes that my house is fine) but i have already recommended him to my neighbor who has similar problems (same construction company built their house) I would not hesitate to hire Anthony again if ever i needed an engineer. 5+ stars from this happy couple.
