Description of Work: Re did rear roof. Its a low plane roof, flatish. The prior contractor did a poor job. They did it right. They removed 2 leaking sky lights and re roofed that part. They re sheet rocked ceiling painted the ceiling and walls. Super job. Very professional. They will call you back right away as needed. I would like to commend especially Nathan Nelson, who did the bid and oversaw the job. The men who did the sheetrocking and painting were Loren and Joe and they went out of there way to tweek things that another contractor would ignore. Definitely call Peak for an estimate. Peak Construction was recommended to us by our insurance company and I was glad to find that they are members of Angie's List. The Project Manager, Jason, arrived and was nice, but also professional in his demeanor and was cognizant of the work that needed to be done. The water damage required that the cabinets around the sink and dishwasher be removed, along with a center island. There was concern about removal of the countertop around the sink area because one length was over 5' long. Peak worked with the insurance company and was able to get the necessary approvals to get someone in to remove and reinstall the countertop to prevent breakage. The entire job took about 4 days and the workers cleaned up behind themselves every day. When I realized that there were small splotches of glue throughout the floor, the Site Manager, David, worked to find a solution and offered to send someone out to the house to remove the glue, saying that Peak wanted me to be 100% satisfied. I would gladly recommend Peak and would use them again for other work.
Description of Work: We had water damage from a dishwasher which required the entire kitchen floor (measuring about 14x 36) to be replaced.

Bill Metzger came to my home within a few hours to inspect a very big leak in my ceiling, which I thought was due to old roofing and a great deal of snow (I have an 1850 farmhouse with a slate roof). I was bracing myself for a possible roof collapse and a very costly repair, but he informed me that the damage was due to "ice damming" and that it is covered by most insurance and that my roof was completely intact. Bill brought of numerous machines to dry out the ceilings and the floors and to prevent a very bad leak from getting far worse. As a result, my original wide plank floors were saved from certain ruin, and I was so grateful! Bill met with the insurance adjuster a few days later and discussed all the necessary repairs and even helped negotiate for the best quality repairs (the adjuster would not have done this had Bill not advocated on my behalf) given that my house is historically registered. The adjuster eventually agreed (after Bill contacted him twice after the intial walk through). All of the repairs were covered, and I was thrilled!! A few days later, the crew arrived as scheduled to take care of multiple light fixtures that were filled with water and ruined. They also repaired the main ceiling and two others that were also damaged, repaired and replaced 5 light fixtures, and repaired a brick chimney and painted every damaged surface. The work took only 3 days, as promised. I was very pleased that during those three days, my house was spotless! They cleaned up perfectly at the end of everyday and never left supplies out or projects halfway done (very important as I have children!). It never felt like I was in the middle of a war zone. I have had a great deal of work done to my home over the course of 15 yrs by various contractors, but never, ever has my house been actually cleaner after the crew left than it was before! The whole Peak team of people were extremely professional, courteous, exceptionally clean, and very knowledgable. They arrived when promised, wearing booties over their shoes to protect my floors, and completed their work when promised. They even fixed a broken shelf and sanded down a sticking door without my asking!! Who does that in this day and age? Fletcher, who did the plaster and brick work, was very kind and went well above and beyond, as did Ken (electrician). Bill came to inspect everything after it was done and asked if everything met my expectations. Well, Peak exceeded my expectations and I will certainly be using them again and recommending them to everyone I know who has a historical home. Anyone can claim to repair an older home well, but I have found that very few actually appreciate and know what they are doing when it comes to historical homes, and even less do it with a thorough respect for the home and the home owner. I could not be happier with Peak.
Description of Work: Mitigation work due to flooding from serious ice damming, repaired plaster, repaired and replaced lighting fixtures, repaired brickwork, and dried out floors and ceilings to prevent further damage prior to work being completed.

We did this as 2 projects. First was the deck and exterior work. Overall while it was inconvenient all the guys did what they said they would do and showed up as promised. There were few issues with cabinets not fitting as they were supposed to but they came up with a solution and didn't charge extra even though the cabinet company made the mistake. After one successful project we decided to hire them to build a new deck and a door to access it. There was an issue with an easement where we wanted to place the deck but they were able to come up with a design that the town accepted and left access for the drainage easement. Everyone was very knowledgeable and professional and I felt comfortable every step of the way.

While tearing off the old roof, shingles brushed up against the vinyl siding on one side of my home, leaving tar marks all over the siding. The provider proceeded to have someone come out to "clean" the siding. They used a magic eraser which ended up ruining the siding. Since my siding is 20 years old and no longer manufactured, I had to locate a close match to replace the siding on the entire side of my house (not an exact match at all) . The provider refused to pay for it, even though the need for replacement was totally their fault. The job ended up costing me $1,000.00 more than the contracted amount as a result of perfectly good siding being ruined by them. Please note that I selected this provider because they were a certified GAF master installer. I also requested and contacted several residential roofing references provided by Peak before completing the job; all but one of which were fine. The other mentioned that Peak had to return to their residence several times before trying to "get it right" but ultimately they ended up with a patch job. Do yourself a big favor.....hire a different contractor. By far, Peak is expensive and unwilling to correct their mistakes on their dime. Update 12/14/2013: In response to the Provider's response, the statement is completely untrue. The sidiing contained more than a "small mark"; if I had to estimate, it would be about 25% of the siding on that particular side. Not once did anyone ever suggest that I wait for the spot to "weather". All the weathering on the planet would not have resulted in the siding matching as it was ruined. While the Company indicates that Peak covered the cost of labor for the siding replacement and other non-related items, I do not believe this to be true as they charged me $1.175.00 for basic siding (nothing fancy) for one side!!! In any event, within a few days of posting my original review, I received a personal phone call from the owner of Peak Construction. It appears that, due to personal issues, he was completely unaware of my experience outlined above and expressed genuine concern and desire to "make it right". Last Saturday, he personally delivered a check to me at my home for the total cost of the siding replacement. While the reimbursement doesn't erase the fact that the siding on one side of my house doesn't match the rest of the house or the months of anguish I went through, this was the "right thing to do". I do believe that, should you hire this contractor and experience any issues, a call to the owner should ultimately result in an acceptable solution. As a result of the owner's actions, I am upgrading my original "F" rating to a rating of "D".

We attempted to clean a small mark on the siding from a shingle. The mark came out but the cleaned area looked much cleaner than the remaining wall. We then cleaned the entire wall in an attempt to satisfy the owner even though we recommended waiting for the clean spot to weather as it would eventually match. In the end we agreed to replace the siding and repair other non-related items for no labor charge and the owner purchased new siding. We are sorry about this bad experience and we would like to revisit this issue with the client as we believed we had resolved this issue.

I worked with the team at Peak Construction from February through July, 2012. There were numerous discussions regarding the scope of the work, quality and types of supplies, etc. prior to signing the contract so I knew exactly what was going to happen. As I was not living at the house full-time during the work, I received (almost) daily progress reports emails and photos. All additional work, such as needed repairs that became apparent when siding was removed, was discussed, priced, and approved before any work was done. What impressed me the most was Chris Riehle's (the contractor I worked with) attention to detail and his desire to keep my 1 1/2 1950's Cape's architectural integrity. The rest of the team was fantastic: they are skilled, professional, and cleaned-up and remove all debris daily, I had every confidence in their integrity and was able to leave my house key with them without a second thought.

The day after the storm "Sandy," State farm Insurance Company was contacted, whereupon my agent quickly sent out a recommended contractor for temporary repairs to my leaking roof. Peak Construction, was the one who responded immediately the next day and placed tarps over much of my roof and garage, to stop further leakage, as well as providing a complete estimate for all necessary restorations. When, State Farm's Insurance Adjuster confirmed Peak's estimates, by the third week, a check was then made out in my name and in the name of my Mortgage Holder. It was this encounter with Chris Riehle of Peak Construction, and with his men during the temporary repairs, that made me feel very comfortable. All the workers who came to my home were most efficient and I found the experience very pleasant. Subsequently, I sat down with Chris to review his proposal, and found him to be very professional, honest, and straight forward in explaining every aspect of the contract in full detail. Unfortunately, it was after making a commitment to Peak Construction that a slow down occurred. Please understand, this was not due to the fault of Peak Construction themselves, but rather to the slowness of my own mortgage lender sending out the required 1/3rd down payment check, a result of the backlog they were experiencing on the many claims from the Storm. Happily, when the mortgage lender finally did send the first payment, Peak Construction fixed the starting date for February 4th., 2013, weather permitting, anticipating the job would take only 3 days. And, Peak started exactly on time, as promised. Though they did have to stop the second day, due to dangerous snow conditions, they in fact completed the job on the 7th, within the allotted three working days as forecasted. Peak Construction sent a full crew of five men, including supervisor Joe Riehle Sr. and his right hand man Louis. I found each and every one of the workers to be exceptional craftsmen, while Joe Sr. was not only very professional but very likable, and Louise, also a hard working pro who knew his job well. It is not often that one finds men such as Joe and Louise, so totally dedicated to perfection, and whose workers performed their task to my utmost satisfaction. Thus it is with great pleasure that I can honestly express my appreciation and admiration for Joe and Louis and for Peak Construction, a totally reliability and trustworthy concern. . I give them FIVE STARS, and would highly recommend them to anyone who needs a truly excellent roofing contractor in the Try-State Area. Sincerely, Mr. Richard A. Morgado

It is a pleasure working with them. They gave realistic dates for the job and completed it as promised. It went very smoothly because of their persistence in doing the job right. Whenever a bump in the road appeared, they worked tirelessly to fix it. I have found all the people at Peak to be very knowledgable, cooperative and responsive. They really mean to please and satisfy the customer for a fair price. I would and have highly recommended them to others.
Description of Work: I chose them because I had a skylight damaged and replaced by them two years ago. They did a beautiful job on that not only replacing the skylight, but also matching the paint perfectly within the house. The warranty on the skylight wore out and the window began to leak. The manufacturer went out of business. Although Peak was no longer under any obligation, they continued to work to resolve the problem which they did successfully for no additional cost to me. As a result, I chose them to renovate my kitchen. I kept my old cabinets where they adjusted and reinforced the shelves. They sanded and refinished the wood kitchen floor, put in a new quartz kitchen countertop, removed the old window box and put in a new window. painted the kitchen, installed the new appliances. They also put in a new tile floor in the downstairs bathroom, re-grouted two bathrooms, installed new shower heads and toilet seats. I also had them replace the front door to the house , back kitchen door and install two new storm doors in the back and side of the house. There is a problem with the storm doors which swell and stick in hot weather. Although the job is long done, they continue to be on top of it, pursuing Anderson (who has been very uncooperative) to replace them. Out of all this, my greatest disappointment has been with Anderson whom I chose because I thought they were a reputable company. I ordered two of their fiberglass doors which as stated above have been problematic. They have been unresponsive and unreliable to deal with. The doors swell and stick so much in the heat, that it is very difficult to open or close them sometimes to the point of being a fire hazard in that exiting the house quickly becomes difficult. It is my guess that this is not the first time this has happened with these doors and that is Anderson's reason for putting this off for one reason or another. However, I am also confident that Peak will not let this problem go unsolved.
Great. Service is always on time as schedule. Works were performed by Joseph Riehle, Louise, Fletcher's and the crew.

The roof job was complicated given the age of our house (over 150 years old) and the gingerbread detail we wanted. Peak Construction showed up every day, maintained an extremely clean worksite and finished on time and on budget. There were no surprises, extremely good communication and a friendly, professional team. Any questions or concerns were answered promptly. We were very pleased with this project. We have done several remodels and Bill's team is by far the most professional, timely and organized. They show up at the work site ready to go and organized. Bill also has very good ideas on how to improve the project.

The job was rushed (they took 1 day instead of scheduled 2-3 days)with final roof appearance not good with no attention to detail (new flashing installed over the old large tar lines, no flashing installed on the dormer, gutters rehung crookedly, or not re-attached at all) and inconsistent and contradicting recommendations from different representatives. The actual account rep was not there at the time work was performed, making follow up and even closing the job difficult. After repeated requests for additional follow up (re-connect the gutters, one of which is now draining onto the wall , install more needed flushing) and us providing a complete payment - representative disappeared.

We did "rush" this job as rain was forecast for that night. However we did so by sending additional manpower and we worked at our normal pace, our men are highly experienced and move quickly... Regarding the other comments- Chris was the initial sales representative. He was on his honeymoon when the work was performed but another representative, Jerry was on site all of the time that work was being performed. We had given a price to replace flashings that were embedded in the brick but prior to start of work the client elected to leave the existing flashings to save money. He requested new flashings during the work and we replaced one piece for an additional amount and quoted a price for the others. He did not indicate that he wanted us to replace the others at that time. To date we have not heard back about the other flashings. We have not been contacted about the gutters and did not install new gutters but will contact the client regarding any outstanding issues he may have.

Our experience with Peak Construction and Bill Metzger was a complete disappointment. We would NEVER use him again or recommend him to anyone. He suggested a time and materials based contract would be more beneficial than a firm price contract. In the end, this was not the case, and in fact, he encourages this type of contact, as the more it costs the homeowner, the more he makes. He charges a fee on ALL expenses and subcontractors with no limit, even his own personal expenses when he on very limited occasions comes to the site. The overall cost of the project was 100% over his estimate and he takes no responsibility for work done by his employees or his subcontractors. In the end, we were charged to fix errors that his men and subs made including paying his mark-up fee on the hours charged to fix their errors. He hired a structural engineer for an estimate of $3K when in the end the invoice was for $14K. I doubt you will find anyone that would use him again or recommend his firm.

THIS PROJECT WAS DELIVERED ON TIME AND ON BUDGET! THE CUSTOMER CHANGED THE SCOPE OF WORK CONSTANTLY, ADDED DORMERS, CEDAR SIDING, GRANITE VENEER, BURIED UTILITIES, ETC. WE ALSO HAD TO BLAST TO PUT THE BUILDING WHERE HE REQUIRED AND THE STRUCTURAL ENGINEER WAS NOT AT ALL OUR RESPONSIBILITY TO HIRE. OUR CONTRACT STATED THAT IT COULD BE CANCELED AT ANY TIME FOR ANY REASON AND THE CUSTOMER CHOSE TO CONTINUE USING US FOR THIS 6 MONTH JOB. THE COSTS OF THIS PROJECT WERE VERY GOOD CONSIDERING THE WORK ACTUALLY DONE. THESE COMMENTS ARE ENTIRELY UNWARRANTED AND IN THE END WE DIDN'T GET A SUBSTANTIAL FINAL PAYMENT WHICH HE JUSTIFIED WITH THE ABOVE COMPLAINTS.

The ending cost was more than double the estimate. One reason to be angry with this is that Peak construction left scaffolding here weeks at a time, when we (the homeowners) were leasing this material. The only reason for leaving the scaffolding was that the company didn't have enough workers to come back to finish our job. The company is obviously overcharging customers. The painters that they subcontracted were terrible, and didn't finish the job properly.
Description of Work: Peak Construction replaced a huge amount of siding on our house and garage, installed several new windows, and rebuilt a chimney chase. The work was fairly well done, but overall the experience was negative.

THIS IS THE SAME REPORT POSTED UNDER WINDOWS, SIDING, AND CHIMNEY REPAIR. WE DID NOT SUBCONTRACT THE PAINTER, THE CUSTOMER HIRED HIM DIRECTLY. WE LEFT THE SCAFFOLDING UP FOR THE PAINTER TO PER THE CUSTOMERS REQUEST SO I CANNOT UNDERSTAND THAT COMMENT. THIS JOB WAS TO REPLACE ROTTED SIDING THAT WAS VERY EXTENSIVE THROUGHOUT THE HOME. AS SUCH WE DID NOT AGREE TO A FIXED PRICE BUT CHARGED FOR THE SIDING REPAIRED. THE CUSTOMER APPROVED OUR WORK AND PER HIS OWN WORDS WE REPLACED A "HUGE" AMOUNT OF SIDING. WE STAFFED THE JOB CONTINUOUSLY THROUGHOUT CONSTRUCTION EVEN THOUGH THE REPAIRS TURNED OUT TO BE MORE EXTENSIVE THAN INITIALLY THOUGHT.

FIRST, WE DID NOT DIRECTLY WORK FOR THIS PERSON, HE WAS THE BOYFRIEND OF OUR CUSTOMER AND WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO DEAL WITH. SECOND, THE INITIAL SCOPE OF WORK WAS GREATLY EXPANDED BY THE CUSTOMER TO INCLUDE BUILT IN CABINETS, HARDWOOD FLOORS, GRANITE COUNTERS, MARBLE TILE, EXTENSIVE MOLDING AND TRIM, ETC. ALL EXTRA WORK WAS REQUESTED AND APPROVED BY OUR CUSTOMER AND THE CUSTOMER HAPPILY PAID US FOR THE WORK.
