Brian and his wife Kelly were very prompt and responsive. Brian was honest about his capabilities, and when the gutter guard installation was unfamiliar he called the company directly to find out the proper way to do it. We also had the company replace/install a new storm door, and the two employees that did that were great as well. (this was an additional cost....not included in the gutter cleaning/fix job above.)
Description of Work: Needed gutters cleaned/repaired & had gutter guards installed.

I called Brian several weeks ago on a friday . Spoke to him as he was enroute to a funeral, then spoke to his wife ,who said he would call back with appt . He did call Tuesday with a appt for the next Tuesday. I agreed since work did not need to be done by 6/30. The morning of the appointment at 8am he cancelled and said he would be there next day, I called to see where he was , and yet again another excuse and a cancel. was assured he would be there Thursday ,,again cancelled , was assured if he could not be there Friday , Monday for sure ,,,,,,,,,,,never heard from him again ,,,,and do not plan to call him again

I am truly sorry our schedules did not work. I did indeed return calls to you and yes I did cancel our appt. on thursday June 7 at 10 am as I would be very late due to an emergency and you had informed me of a doctors appt and even though it was not a necessity for you to be there it was obvious you would like to meet with me to show me the one job that was important to you. I felt it was very important to get the particulars from you to prevent doing the job differently than you were hoping for and having you unsatisfied and returning to make repairs. After that it seemed as if each time we talked you had appointments or I was unable to make it during the time frames you requested. I did receive numerous messages from you, some confusing, informing me you had an appointment then called and said you were home at said appointment times.I sincerly apoligize I am unable to answer every call and that is why I suggest people contact the office for scheduling issues as I may not get a chance to listen to a message until late in the day. But I do return calls and listen to my messages. Though I dont always leave messages as I understand people see they have a missed call and if the customer has called me they know I am returning their call. In fact I tried calling this morning and your husband said you were in bed, as I had hoped to apologize to you for any confusion, but I understand you have had some unfortunate circumstances where you are unavailable. I hope you get a chance to see this and accept my apology.

Brian was punctual. If there was a change in time, he always called beforehand. Existing materials were used whenever possible to keep costs down. Brian is helpful with ideas and solutions to problems. He keeps a clean work area and overall, just does a great job. We feel blessed to have found such a wonderful worker and now, friend.
Description of Work: Brian rebuilt a sliding barn door to a swing door and rebuilt a degrading dutch door on stall. Did a marvelous job utilizing as much existing material as possible to keep costs down..he's wonderful about this. Brian is a delightful person, totally trustworthy and would hire him again and again. This was the 2nd time he did work for us. The other was the remodeling and tiling of a tub and shower area of bathroom. We're very happy with his work and professionalism. If you hire him, you will not be disappointed.

Overall, the home projects went very well, and my wife and I were pleased with the service and results. We initially contacted Brian for five of the projects listed above, as we prepared to put our house on the market for sale. The remaining projects were added after Brian began his work for us. We contacted Brian and scheduled a time for him to come to the house and provide a free estimate. We discussed repairing the rotted fascia, patching the hole in the master bedroom, sanding the front door, replacing the rotted windowsills and scraping/filling holes in the 1st floor half bath to prepare for paint. We also discussed the possibility of him installing a new, laminate flooring for us. Brian's initial quote was for $800, which did not include the floor installation or windowsill replacement, due to the uncertainty of level of rot that would be uncovered in the sills. We followed up with Brian the next day, and made arrangements for him to begin work at our house 10 days later. When Brian began his work, he was prepared and promptly tackled the initial projects. The patchwork with the walls in the bedroom and bathroom required thick putty that ended up requiring extra layers and extra time to dry. Brain returned multiple days in a row to sand the patchwork and to apply additional layers of putty as necessary. As we waited for the walls to dry and for Brian to finish his work, my wife and I decided that we would like Brian to install the new bathroom floor for us, and discovered additional projects that we wanted fixed or repaired prior to putting our home on the market. Brain accepted the additional projects. Brian went on to fix the electrical switches for us, he enlisted the help of an associate to install the bathroom floor, molding and reinstall the toilet and to install a small gutter and downspout, and the two of them worked to remove, replace and paint the front porch beams and windowsills. When we were not 100% satisfied with the installation of the floor, moldings, and transition strip, Brian was responsive to our critique and suggestions, and his associate worked to correct the installation the next day.In all of our dealings with Brian, he was thorough and punctual. When issues of timing did arrive, he called in advance to inform of a delay and to confirm a new time later that day. Overall, the entirety of the projects took about 2 weeks to complete. Although we did not discuss a price or estimate for the additional projects, we anticipated that the total would be between $2250-$2500. Brian understood that cost was a priority for the customer, and provided information with that in mind. We would recommend him and use him in the future for a variety of home repair and handyman projects.
Description of Work: Removed front door, sand down, and reinstall to enable door to close freely Remove gutter and replace one piece of rotted fascia Supply and install small portion of gutter and downspout on front of house Remove 2 support pillars on front porch Install 2 new 4x4 pillars on front porch and paint Cut out 4 rotted windowsills and replace and repaint each Remove and repair 3-way light switches on stairway Clean out and patch hole in master bedroom, ready to paint Remove bathroom door and sand to close Scrape and fill holes in 1st floor half bath, ready to paint Remove toilet, cap drain, pull-up flooring and molding, ready to install new flooring in 1st floor half bath Supply and install sub floor Install customer supplied flooring and molding and reinstall toilet Install customer supplied transition strip

Brian was very professional when it came to communicating the project start time. This was a smaller project that he was able to accomplish between bigger jobs, and made it a point to make sure I knew when he would be on site. The actual work was accomplished quickly and efficiently.
Description of Work: Replacement of old columns in front of the house, two of which are on the porch and the other two of which rest on the ground. The two on the ground where on old concrete blocks which due to old age, no longer connected with the actual column.

The process was very smooth. I contacted Brian and he came out several days later to see what I needed. The next day I had a quote which was very reasonable. We set a start date, and his crew showed up right on time. They were there three days, which included the additional items which became evident after the work began. Brian came and inspected each day; he also called me each evening to make sure that I was satisfied with the work, and to discuss any issues which had come up. I found his workers to be polite, responsive, and professional. For the most part they cleaned up their work at the end of each step of the work, and left my home clean and neat when they left each day. They worked hard and consistently. I would recommend them highly, and I am looking forward to calling them again for other work I have.
Description of Work: Repairs were made to bathrooms, repaired holes in drywall, scraping and reapplication of basement drylock paint, concrete repair in basement and garage floors, replacement of rotting siding, moldings and sills, door replacement, closet door re-hanging, new gutters put up. The list was varied and long. Brian and his crew not only made the repairs in a professional quality, they went beyond and repaired other items which became apparent after the work was started. They talked to me about what the newly discovered items were, the costs and benefits of repairing them, and the additional costs were very reasonable. In addition, they repaired small items which were not on the list and did not charge me for them. They returned to complete some problems I noticed promptly.

we have had brian to our house on three separate occasions to do work for us. the first time was to finish building a kitchen basement that had been gutted [that was our most expensive project because of the many hours he and his workers put in]. they did an amazing job, asked questions whenever they had a question for us or ran into an issue that needed to be addressed. it was a huge project and they finished it quickly and efficiently and the kitchen looks great. the second time he replaced some pipes for us, replaced a toilet and a bathroom sink faucet. the third time he came over and replaced many pipes that had burst in the winter time in our pool house. he made sure everything was in perfect condition every time he left and always took away any garbage left behind. i would highly recommend him to anyone looking for any type of work that you may need done in your house, as he seems to know how to do a lot and is extremely efficient. i hate dealing with contractors, as i've known many that have ripped us off in the past - but now that i've worked with brian, i will never call anyone else again.

They picked up, delivered and moved. I have been using them since the first time I found them on Angies List a year ago. I used them for a number of things and I have found them to be terrific. Yesterday I had an emergency in my rental property and they responded within one or two hours, they fixed the problem, they took care of it and they left. They called me when it was all done and the tenants had heat. I will use them in the future.

Brian was amazing! I called him on a Saturday and the first thing he asked me was if my situation was an emergency that he needed to come for right away. I told him it was not an emergency and could wait until the work week, Brian offered to come Monday but I was out of town that day so he offered to come on Tuesday. He offered me different time options and we agreed on 8:30; he arrived at my house exactly at 8:30!!! Before Brian came over he discussed my situation on the phone with me. He was so friendly and helpful. When Brian came to do the work he explained everything to me as he went. He did an amazing job, I am so happy I found Brian on Angie’s List. I have already handed his cards out to my friends and I will employ Brian’s services in the future for all my house repair and improvement needs. Thank you so much Brian!

I found the electrician through Angie's List. The name of the electrician was Brian Corsette. He wasn't the owner. He worked for the company. I called a number of people and he was the one who was available first. I had company coming in over Labor Day weekend so I was trying to get some work done before they came. He started out at $200.00 for the work and I thought that was absolutely outrageous. I had all of the parts that were needed and the socket was already there. It was just a matter of taking the wire from the double switch light and converting the double switch to a double socket double switch. The $200.00 was also to cover the diagnosis of the problems with the outlets. I did not have power. He worked for a good 45 minutes on it and kept asking me if I had a DTC override power switch and I ended up finding that myself while he was looking. He still wanted to charge me the full $200.00. I told him there was no way I was going to do that and I said that if he was going to fix the socket, I was not going to pay more than $100.00. He said something about driving all the way. I had everything he needed to do the job and he basically just had to do the job. He kept asking me to give him $150.00, but I refused to give him and said that I would stick with the $100.00. He then asked me to make it $125.00. Then he told me that I did solve the problem in the kitchen and that he should have looked for it himself. He said he blamed himself for not looking for it first. I told him we looked everywhere and we couldn't find it and I said I would double check and look again. Behind some of the stuff in the pantry there was the switch and all he had to do was push it and immediately we got power in the outlets. Ultimately I got the price that I wanted but there were some tense moments there and I didn't think he was very fair. If there had actually been a real issue with having to do rewiring in the kitchen I think it would have been reasonable to have $200.00 to cover both of those things. He still wanted to charge me that in spite of the fact that I was the one that found the problem and I had to talk him down $100.00 and $200.00 to have an outlet installed was ridiculous. Punctuality was fine. Professionalism in terms of really putting me on the spot and making me stand my ground, I consider that a B. I would not use the company again in the future. Where he was coming from to where I was was probably quite a drive, but I tend to always give other people the benefit of the doubt. Had he said that $100.00 was fair right from the word get go even though I felt it was very expensive for just a socket, I would have given him a higher rating. Maybe he was the owner.
Description of Work: I had Affordable Solutions by Brian install a secondary outlet which fed from a light switch in the bathroom. He was also there to try to diagnose a power outage to outlets in the kitchen. He is located in Chittenango, New York.

Well I'm not sure where to begin with this posting. Let me start with I am the owner. When the homeowner called she originally asked me to install a light switch and outlet. I asked her if there was power at that location and she was not sure. She did inform me that there was an outlet on the wall below it on the outside of the room. I did quote her a price of 200.00$ if we had to pull wire. She responded with that was to much to install the devices. I then informed her if indeed I only had to swap out devices it would only be 100.00$. After getting there she asked me to look at her outlets in her dining room as that was important to her. She asked for an estimate and I informed her I would give her 20 minutes to inspect at no charge as I felt the remaining time would be used up on the outlet/ switch work. After not finding the problem the home owner encourage the continuing of diagnosing the problem with the outlets. After opening all the junction boxes in the crawl space and all the outlets in the dining room I informed the owner there had to be an outlet in her walk in pantry. She ensured me that she was positive there was NONE. I insisted she please clean out her pantry and to her surprise she did indeed find a Gfi that was tripped! She was so shocked, happy and yet nervous of what her husband would say as she said he asked her if she checked all the gfi's. I continued to close up all the boxes and outlets. I then proceeded to finish what I originally was called for. When I was finished and she asked what she owed me I did ask for $200 as I was there for 2 hours more tracing her outlet problems. It is very unfortunate that a service professional can be asked to do a job over and above the original and be expected to charge the same. The home owner was very adamant we had an agreement on price and she informed me that they would have other work down the road Even though I was certain I would never see her again I figured it was better to write it off as a learning experience.

I didn't have the work done but overall Brian did an excellent job explaining why the work really wasn't necessary and he made suggestions to better utilize the light I had.
Description of Work: I called on Affordable Solutions by Brian regarding rewiring an outdoor ceiling fixture on my front porch. Brian came by the same day I called him to take a look at the job. After reviewing the work I thought I wanted done he explained that it wasn't really necessary in his opinion and that the current light presented no problems. He was very honest in explaining his reasoning and the work necessary if I wanted it done. I appreciated his honestly because it was potentially rather expensive to do what I wanted and was most likely not necessary. A contractor could have easily agreed to the job and charged me a lot of $ to do unnecessary work. I was very pleased with Brian even though he didn't actually do any work and would consider hiring him in the future for other jobs.

Easy. They were on time and cleaned up after themselves, easy to talk to and did amazing work in what was a very short time span... The custom built pitched roof is shedding rain beautifully. the inside ceilings are looking real good-better than the original...absolutely painless and easy. AND DRY!!! Oh they got along fine with our 3 dogs too!
Description of Work: Had a ceiling collapse in my house due to water damage-rain and a leaking toilet. Contacted several contractors via Angie's, friends' referrals and other online sites. Brian's quote for the ceiling wasn't the lowest or the highest-but, like Goldilocks, it sounded just right to me-especially after looking at my insurance co.'s estimates of the cost of repairs... While he was here at my house, looking the damage over, my partner suggested showing Brian another room-(flat roof again)-where the ceiling underneath was looking like it may also collapse under rain, snow accumulations etc... We asked Brian about building a "fake" pitched roof over the flat portion outside to better handle the climate here, to remove and replace the ceiling inside underneath it (on the verge of collapsing). He gave me a "bundled" price on both jobs that saved me a few hundred. I took the offer, because I was tired of worrying about another ceiling collapsing under the weight of water...One ceiling was enough-I wanted to nip the second problem in the bud. The guys did a wonderful job on making and installing a custom sized pitched roof over the original flat leaking section -In LESS than a day-I might add. Then they tackled both the inside ceilings, taking down the old, cleaning out the gunk and spraying for mold and mildew, then replacing it with a very good quality sheetrock.... Cleaned up after they finished-no muss-very little fuss. These guys make it easy to live with someone working on your house....and for the price and the workmanship-I will be recommending them to everyone I know who needs work done-inside or out...

I thought the job was very well done. I'm happy with the way the job turned out. My friends thought that the price was a little high and I didn't get a second contractor to give me an estimate. I just with him because he lived nearby and I was thinking it might be a little less since I live close by. So, I have no idea if that is within a reasonable price range. I know electrical work can be expensive.
Description of Work: He did electrical work. He installed two electrical outlets on the floor and relocated a large chandelier.

I used Affordable Solutions by Brian in the past for a bedroom remodel and had great luck so I decided to use him again to spruce up my bathroom. I had the same great luck this time. I wanted the job done as soon as possible. Brian was able to do the job within days. I got the same friendly, trustworthy service as the first time. One of Brian's employees removed the wall paper in my bathroom and prepared the walls for paint. He removed my old floor and installed a new tile floor. He also replaced a broken electrical outlet box and hauled some garbage away for me. The job was done in a couple days. The employee that did the work is a perfectionist and everything was done very well. He was very friendly and considerate. The price was good. Overall it was another great experience with this company and I will continue to recommend them to my friends and family.

He was very thorough and generous with his time. He was clean, polite and professional. We set a tentative date for follow up work for jobs that need to be done soon.
Description of Work: Brian did a house walk through with me to look at various issues and specific jobs that I need done. He installed outside lighting for me and digital thermostats quickly. He hauled some heavy debris to the dump for me that had been left by another contractor.

Response to my original phone call was very timely; I described the projects I had and Brian gave me the price quote over the phone. I scheduled to have the above work completed the morning of 5/25/11. Due to issues with my work schedule, I had to call him (several days in advance of the 25th), to advise I was unable to take that day as vacation time. Friday, June 10th was a possibility - he stated he did not have his work schedule with him, but did not think the date would present any problems. On Tuesday, June 7th, I contacted Brian to nail down a specific start time for Friday's projects, as I had other errands that I was also trying to plan. I was advised at this time that I was not on the schedule for Friday, as I had not "called back to confirm" (?). Brian then stated he could do the work but, since he already had a project for the AM hours, the work would need to be done in the afternoon. He anticipated finishing his morning work ~ 12:00PM, and stated he would give me a call when he was ready to head f or my house. I ran some errands in the AM and was at home from 11:30 till 1:30 awaiting the promised phone call. I finally attempted (unsuccessfully) to call Brian @ 1:30PM. Then, tired of wasting my time, I left for my remaining errands. On my way to the grocery store I received a call from Brian. He reported he had been at my house earlier (between 11:00 to 12:00) and " no one was there". He did not have my phone number with him, so had been unable to call as he had indicated he would. He offered to go to my house - (it was now 2PM) - complete the inside projects, and come back another time to complete the door replacement. Given the multiple mis-communications, I advised him I would be looking into other options to have the work completed
Description of Work: Scheduled services: replace a back screen door, a bathroom sink faucet, and a deadbolt lock on a garage entry door. Estimated time required for these services was a 1/2 day.

I feel very bad that there was a mix up on the scheduling. As the member wrote she did schedule and cancel and then tentatively rescheduled never committing to a date for sure. I thought we had left it as though she was going to call with a definite date that she could get a vacation day. Not hearing from her I continued to schedule work and I did schedule for the10th. When she called to confirm I tried to explain I had not heard back until then from her and I had booked up that day. She seemed agitated and I could understand, as she took the day off to get this done. I then informed her I would do all I could to get my commitment done early and get to her house as close to noon as possible. I did get to her house at around 1130 and no one was there. I did tell her I would call if there was going to be an issue with the time. Unfortunately I did not have her number with me as I left it behind that morning and take full responsibility for that error as if I had not left it behind I could of called her right then to see when she was going to be there. In the mean time I received a call to look at a job in the neighboring town and decided to look at it as I was unsure of what the rest of the day was looking like. When I came out of this persons home I received her message and offered to come right over. I explained to her she we would do the inside and it would take maybe an hr for the 2 of us. Then if she requested we could leave and come back and do the door or stay. We would make this decision together when we were done. I can only say I wish things had went better and felt that her report is not fair by any way. I did all I could to fit her in and then she was not home and never called me either to inform me she had to step out after telling me she would be home all day.
