They responded to my call promptly and came to the house the following day to do the work. The installation of the reading lamps went smoothly, as did the work on one of the showers, but with the second shower, the new handle wouldn't stay sufficiently tight on the newly-replaced stem. Brian took the handle and said he would get another one and return with it either later that day or the following morning to finish the job. When he did not return that day or the next, I began to call and leave messages, but my calls were not returned. In the meantime I purchased a plastic shower handle so that we could use our shower over the Thanksgiving Holiday. I finally got through to Brian several days later. He explained that he had dropped his phone and could not retrieve his messages. I said that that was unfortunate but it didn't excuse his not getting back in touch as he knew this job was still unfinished. He came the next day with the handle, but it still would not stay sufficiently tight. He said he would consult with others about this particular problem, and that if he couldn't find a way to make the handle fit, he would find a different style of handle (similar to the lighter temporary one I had put on) with a finish that matched the rest of the fixtures, and would return to install it. That was the last I heard of him. It's too bad, because he seems like a nice guy, and I was surprised that after my initial call he was able to come out the next day. I can't recommend him, however, because I had to keep calling him as he just seemed to forget about us, and he basically left this job unfinished.

Im sorry you feel this way but when a customer supplies their own material the contractor can not be responsible for faulty items. Yes I did take the item and I did get a whole new part and like I explained to you the local box store did not have it and I had to go to clay to get it for you. Now most contractors would of told you you were stuck with getting it yourself and putting it on yourself as the job you hired them for was completed. But instead I spent my time and fuel trying to find the unit for you at no cost to you and nothing offered by you for my additional expenses occured. We all know fuel is not free nor is time. The handle you said you were fine with but if I located one that matched could I get it or you would look for it also. So in closing I feel you are very unreasonable in your review and unfair to other angies list members as I went over and above the job you hired us for. It is ungrateful customers who ask ( or command ) your immediate attention with no respect to other customers then give a bad review that is unwarranted. Thanks Brian.

H came to give me an estimate which was VERY reasonable and paid right on the spot. The reason I did that was becasue he had time to do the work right away as long as he could use the ladder I had as he did not have one with him. Although I had to leave to go back to work, I was confident that the work would be done. When I got home, everything was done, hauled away and caulked. He did a superb job! I will be using him for other projects around the house!!
Description of Work: I had contact Brian to assist with taking down the awning frame out behind my house. He needed to unscrew it not only from the house, but also from the cement slab it was connected too. He indicated that he would also caulk the holes in the siding where the supports were connected. He came to give me an estimate which was VERY reasonable. He even had time to do it right away! I was so pleased with his work. I will definitely be using him again as I have quite a few projects I want done around the house!! Thanks for being so great!

Brian called to speak with me about the job, one of the members of the team met with him to explain and show the jobsite and Brian promptly gave us a quotation. We discussed price a bit and then we hired Brians team for the bathroom remodel. They were extremely efficient and polite. The tenant was impressed by how clean they kept the worksite. The job only took 4 days and our team was very impressed with the result.
Description of Work: Brian and his group had to repair a bathroom for one of our apartments. Brian needed to know how to handle a mold problem and redo the entire bathroom. His team did an excellent job. He also was very good at keeping me in the loop on any problems that came up. I would love to be Brians only customer.

First thank you for the words of praise on the job. My only concern is the (C) price rating. We gave you a price that you negotiated and a time frame you desired to work around your tenants schedule. I am a little confused about the price rating and feel it is a little unfair.

Member I am so sorry you were more or less unhappy with the job. As I told your husband there was not much we could do with the wooden screen door you purchased as it was to wide and too long. He explained what was expected and understood you two were asking us to fabricate a door into a space that was not set up for this style of door. There are proper ways to build out and install a door in this space but the cost did not outway the advantage as we discussed this door being on the back side of your home. Not only did we cut the door down on all four sides and install but also installed a handrail on a concrete wall. In all my biggest concern or question is why did you wait 21/2 months to put a review on angies list and not contact me with your concerns. I'm sorry if your husband relayed one thing to us and it was not what you expected, but he was very happy with the job.

COULD NOT BE HAPPIER! We have had every possible issue with contractors building our vacation house ranging from stolen deposits, incomplete work, work not done correctly, one guy even cut a big hole in the floor leaving the house open to the elements and never came back to finish his work, pick up his tools, or patch the hole! We built a vacation house about 5 hours from our home so managing the project from so far away proved to be challenging. We hired 3 round of contractors before we found Brian, and the 2 that actually showed up, did enough work to make it look like they were making progress but they never finished anything! After several weeks of contractors dodging phone calls and not responding to emails we found Brian using Angie's list and he was quick to return calls and he followed up with an estimate promptly after looking at the house. Brian showed up on time, stayed on budget, got all of the work done and the cabin was cleaned up when they were done. I relayed my frustrations about the prior contractors that had worked on our cabin and Brian made several offers that put my mind at ease. 1~ he didn't ask for any money up front. I'm not sure if this is something he can offer for all projects but I appreciated that he was flexible about this. 2~ He called me nearly everyday to confirm the work that had been completed, get clarification and approval before he purchased any big ticket items. 3~ He sent pictures of the work they had completed every day to show us the progress they were making. 4~The cabin was clean when they were done, it would have been reasonable for there to be drywall dust on everything given all of the work that had been done but they were really good about cleaning up. We noticed something was a little off with the plumbing for the drain in the tub so we called Brian and he had someone out there the next day to get it fixed. His employee that came out to fix the plumbing was very polite and professional. I would highly recommend Brian's company to anyone looking for a contractor. The quality of their work is terrific and his willingness to communicate with the customer distinguishes him from the rest of the contractors out there. Thanks! Josh
Description of Work: Brian and his crew performed the following services: Drywall, hanging, mud & sanding an 1100 sq ft cabin. Installed a 40 gallon propane water heater, vent & gas line. Finished board & batten siding that the previous contractor did not complete. Finished all electric work, prior to Brian's crew, the cabin had the rough in wiring complete, his crew finished the wiring and installed 2 ceiling fans and flood lights on both ends of the house. Brian's crew installed 3 interior doors. They replaced collar ties with rough cut timbers, the previous contractor had left 2x6s as collar ties. Installed rafters that were missing from the porch. Replaced soffits that were not installed correctly by prior contractor. Installed trap under tub and connected the drain into the house drain. Replaced a section of metal roof that had not been installed properly by the previous contractor and fell off over the winter.

Members, first off Kelly and I would like to say thank you for trusting us with your cabin after numerous bad experiences. It's very hard to ease a homeowners mind that you aren't like the rest after other contractors have already put your guard up. I wanted you to trust us and in the end it paid off. You couldn't be there everyday to see the progress so I felt pictures would help you. I am very glad we met and hope that you are enjoying your cabin! Please call us if you need anything! Brian was on time. When he needed to reschedule an appointment, he called well in advance. He was clean and picked up after himself. All in all, it was a good experience and we will definitely use him again.
Description of Work: Brian removed a malfunctioning garbage disposal and replaced it with a regular drain. He also repaired a leaking part on an older shower, saving us quite a bit over replacement of the entire faucet/tap. In addition, he changed a door lock--a last minute request.

I am generally happy with the outcome and would use Brian's company again. I was very grateful to Brian for being willing to tackle the undesirable job of cleaning up the mess left by "the other guy" -- something many handymen/contractors just won't do. Now, three months after the work was completed, there are no problems with the structure or function of the tub/shower, including the plumbing. The junction between the tub and the marble floor looks wonderful -- like we planned it that way, rather than asking Brian to fix a major error made by someone else. The price he charged was very reasonable, and he was both flexible and reliable concerning scheduling. He was very friendly, approachable, and patient in listening to my venting about "the other guy." I did encounter a few, relatively minor problems while working with Brian and his team. First: Brian is a little overwhelmed by the number of things he's juggling, as is often the case with someone who does good work and is in demand. On a couple of occasions, he failed to call me as he'd said he would; after my prior experience with "the other guy," this communication failure was a bit unsettling. But in the end Brian showed up at my house when he said he would, and the work was completed on the timetable we'd established. I could have lived without the periods spent waiting by the phone, though. Second: The initial access panel (to the faucet plumbing) that Brian's group installed was a major contrast to the beautiful work he did on the juncture between the marble floor and the tub. It was unfinished on one side and looked like something I might have put together myself. When I expressed dissatisfaction with the panel to Brian, he sent a (newly-hired) associate over to redo the access panel within a day or two (at an additional charge of $108). I had a sample access panel from a crawl space to show Brian's colleague as a template of a simple but more attractive option. Fortunately, when he said, "So you want this made out of plywood?" I knew enough to say no. The sample panel was made of plywood, but it was not being used near a potentially wet surface. I was bothered by the poor job on the original panel, but even more by having to tell the "professional" I was hiring not to put untreated plywood directly in contact with a potentially damp surface. Maybe I'm overreacting as a result of my prior bad experiences with "the other guy" (whose behavior cost me close to $10,000 I can't recover), but I don't believe that a handyman should need to check with a homeowner on a basic issue like what material is appropriate for a particular purpose. Based on my experience with Brian, I doubt very much that this issue would have arisen if he'd come over to redo the access panel himself. I understand that Brian is trying to deal with his packed schedule by hiring associates to whom he can delegate certain responsibilities. I also appreciate that "good help is hard to find" (boy, do I appreciate it!) and that his associate had just been hired that week and may not have realized that it's better to call Brian with questions of material suitability than to ask the homeowner. Some bosses will fire you for asking questions like that; I sincerely doubt that Brian is one of them. Brian's concern with doing a good job at a reasonable cost is very evident, which is why I would hire his team again and hope that some of the bugs have been ironed out!
Description of Work: Brian and his associates took on the task of completing a shower/tub replacement that had been horribly botched by another handyman and left unfinished by him after 6 weeks (at which time we terminated his services). Brian and his crew did a great job of fixing the mess left by "the other guy" and had the tub/shower ready to go in a couple of days. They removed the inappropriate sheetrock and replaced it with greenboard, installed grab bars, and caulked the tub/shower seams. They finished mudding and taping the greenboard, which abutted the old sheetrock, and they tightened loose plumbing connections left by "the other guy". Brian came up with an attractive, affordable solution for the large gap left between the tub and the marble floor that did not require finding matching marble (which proved impossible after two months of searching). Brian's team also installed an access panel through the sheetrock to the faucet plumbing so that the drain would be easily accessible in the event of future issues.

Let me start by saying Thank You. Next I apoligize for any confusion. I assure you when my worker asked if you wanted it out of plywood it was QUESTIONING your desires as it was incorrect to put standard plywood need water. But you know that saying the customer is always right, well that is why he said "you want it made of plywood". I believe with all your past issues with contractors your gaurd may have been on the defensive. I once again want to thank you and hope you realize not all contractors are evil.

Member, your request was anything but small. You started out with mold in kitchen, then went to mold in master bathroom. You stated you had the sheet rock replaced not to long ago and did not want the mold to return.I inspected and found no ventilation in the home and I believe this is because this was a camp turned into a year round home and many additions and finishes to the original structure. My quote was to fix this issue properly with mold remediation, proper soffit and roof ventilation. Then you requested a quote to gut out another bathroom, extend one wall into the living room, building that wall with an enclosure to set the television into. Move the door to this room to another wall, which would interfere with the attic hatch. So this would require modification. Still not done on this part yet, the wall in this bathroom that met the kitchen you wanted a portion tore out, some of the kitchen cabinets modified,so you could have the over sized refrigerator also tucked into this wall. Then in the bathroom access panels built to maintenance this. On top of this you wanted plumbing and electrical revamped in this room. Then you also wanted a closet repaired. So needless to say this was anything but a small sheet rock job. Thank you. People like you reporting false reports like this give the few of us that do give quality work and proper estimates to repair mistakes of others a bad rap.

Although I wasn't looking for perfection, he made sure he did a superb job of hiding all wires and doing what a professional contractor would do. Brian listened carefully to what I wanted, worked with me to plan the project, and then made sure that the end result met my expectations. When Brian gave me his initial estimate, he cautioned me that, due to the extensive water damage, there would likely be further work needed, but that could only be determined after they had removed the existing flooring. He was correct, and once he had the full picture he was able to give me a final price. Brian monitored the job, but the work was done by Shaun, who did a good job overall. Due to a mixup in communications, the column that Shaun initially constructed was not what I had expected. When I mentioned this to Brian, he had Shaun return and rebuild the column (at no expense to me.) I was deeply impressed with that level of customer service. I would not hesitate to use Brian again, and I would recommend him highly.

Brian responded to my request right away. We set up a time to meet to inspect the work, he gave me a reasonable estimate and scheduled the work. His co-worker Vince did the work and he was punctual, professional and did a very good job. You could tell that he really cared about his work. Brian and the person helping with the schedule Kelly were responsive and good with follow-up. I would use Brian's company (and Vince!) again.
Description of Work: There was a large and nasty crack in the wall of my family room due in part to settling and possibly some water damage. There were several other smaller "settling" cracks throughout the room. The large crack took the most work and time. All the cracks were patched and fixed.

I thought it went very well, considering I no longer live in the area, and we communicated well, inspite a 3 hour time difference.. He communicated with me every step of the way, and sent me photos of the progress along the way. He gathered together the appropriate size crew to get the job done in the short amount of time he had, and cleaned up after himself. I have asked him to do some additional work in Cortland, and I will keep you all updated.
Description of Work: My house in Seneca Falls had a very bad odor. Although it had been looked at previously by others, Brian was the first to discover that it was a serious plumbing issue that required immediate attention. A cast iron drainage pipe had burst, causing sewage to run from an upstairs apt to the first floor and on down into the basement! He communicated the problem to me, gave me suggestions, an estimate, and fixed the problem, knowing I had someone moving into the apt on July 30th. He was professional, prompt and courteous. He provided me with pictures and I would definitely recommend him.

He was okay, I would give him an average rating. The window wasn't caulked as well as it could of been. He was nice and very personable. I only wish the work on the window would have been better.
Description of Work: We used Affordable Solutions by Brian. He repaired the porch roof cover with plastic as we can't afford to get the whole thing re-done at this time. The other thing he did was replace a broken window.

I wish you would of specified that you had wanted more than a closure to the plastic over window. When we spoke your only concern was to keep the cats from going out. The wood is missing and I did as you asked and worked within your budget. Also waiting for payment for over a month on a low budget project that you called me and said you were financially ready to do. I am seriously offended that you would write such a review after all I did to risk getting on a roof that was caving in, enclosed a window and also repaired your door that we did not discuss in the original work order. All this for 265.00 and that included my material. To give me a (B&C) on quality and cost is not fair in any way ,shape or form. A customer like yourself asks for inexpensive, and then given rates for that should not expect a brand new window. I informed you the window needed to be completely removed ,possibly replaced completely or at least rebuilt and you did not have the income to do this. So I worked with you and you were happy until I called looking for payment.Even after I only received a partial payment I did not call looking for the rest. In conclusion I only wish we the contractors had a way to warn other contractors of home owners that are ungrateful as yourself. I do want to thank you for speaking your mind as I would of done the other work for you that you asked me to look at, even if it meant waiting on the payment as we are all about helping and working with our customers.
