Was hired to rebuild my fire damaged home, when the house was inspected for framing it failed, when I finally reached jack rosa he was not willing to fix the problems. Had to hire someone to fix the issues, costing $60000. He does not communicate with his customers. He did not follow the blueprints. His sub contractors stayed with me on the project, they were never paid by jack rosa also. Do not use this company.

Originally wrote 5 star review for installation of sport court. I had a basketball hoop that cracked and was under warranty. Jack ordered wrong replacement size blamed the manufacturer and for over 6 months never answers phone or text. Text him numerous times to try to resolve issue but never responded.

DO NOT HIRE! Abandoned project after months of delays, shoddy work and dishonestly. I paid over $50,000 in cash for a basement remodel, including $11,000 for cabinets he never delivered. Faulty install of multiple things led to further issues, including an egress window that ultimately flooded my entire basement months later. Notably, Jack the owner lied multiple times about delays based on himself and his workers being sick- then posted to his social media accounts work they were doing on larger commercial projects instead of my home.

After Sub Contracting out the Excavation, Concrete Foundations, Framing /Roofing/and Siding to Jack Rosa of Duke Design and Construction, He did not show up to do any of the work. We were in contact weekly after permits were issued and Jack had given me a start date which was eventually pushed back again and again until he was a no show at all making me look unprofessional and unreliable to my customer not to mention giving me a bad reputation. He did not have the common courtesy of a phone Call, or No Email, No Text , he just decided upon himself that it was ok to just abandon the job. Most unprofessional thing I have ever encountered as a General Contractor. Lost a $500K job due to Jack Rosas lack of professionalism and Character. DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY

It has now been about 5+ months since Jack and Duke Design and Construction have "finished" our home remodel. I've waited this long to post a review because I wanted to give myself some time to adjust to our new home and allow myself to really inspect and take in the work that was done. We met with Jack about a LARGE project at a new home we purchased. This involved some sort of work to basically every room in the house, whether it be painting, floors, trim work, or up to a complete kitchen remodel. Jack was very professional the first time we met with him and promised us everything would go smooth, and set a timeline for 3 weeks (which I knew could NEVER happen, I figured 6 weeks was even pushing it). After that meeting with Jack, basically everything on the project went downhill. I want to grant Duke Design some sort of leeway, because this job was started right at the beginning of the COVID pandemic. The lack of communication on Jack's part was beyond frustrating. And when we did get in touch with Jack, he made us feel like we were inconveniencing him with every request. We met with Jack at the house MAYBE two more times over the course of the next 12 weeks at the house, and constantly heard from his workers how he has not been to the job site. As for the quality of work, I cannot stress enough how poor of a job was done. Like I mentioned, I tried to allow myself some time to see the work, and every week we are finding something that was not done with care. Unfortunately, I am unable to post pictures of some of the deficiencies that we have found (and keep finding). Just a few examples: Sheetrock/Molding above the sink: About a four foot section of trim above the sink, in between cabinets, was replaced after removing a light. This was some of the worst workmanship I have ever seen. Jack told us that the joists were not straight, which caused the issued. We had to have another contractor come in a fix the work, which looks great. Sheetrock by the fireplace: The Sheetrock was left ~3 inches off the fireplace, and we were told that we had to "cover it with trim." After inquiring a bit more, it was made clear that the Sheetrock could be brought flush with the fireplace, it would just be a bit more effort. Marble backsplash final: After 90% of the backsplash was completed, the last 10% was done by a separate worker. He used the wrong adhesive which caused the marble to discolor. We had to tear down the last 10% and have a separate contractor come in to fix it. Various spackle/taping: Where the old wall was removed and the load bearing beam was put in, the spackle and taping job is completely unsatisfactory. You can clearly see the individual ceiling joists. The Den, where the wood paneling was taken down, has several areas that have not been done with care for the final product. Cutouts for outlets/light switches: Throughout the entirety of the work scope, there are more than a few cutouts that do not line up with the associated electrical box. This caused the outlet covers to not be able to cover the hole. This is a matter of ZERO attention to detail, or care of what the final product would look like. There are MANY other deficiencies throughout the home that will need our attention sooner rather than later. I wish I could share pictures of how the work looks. I genuinely hopes this reaches someone that is considering Duke Design and Construction, and they choose to go with another contractor.

The job: Remove & Replace old backyard simple 4 x 4 deck with stairs and railing. The crew: Steve +1: Steve, an artist, built a beautiful 4 x 4 replacement deck with picture frame steps, railing from composite materials (foundation is pressure treated to code), beyond my expectations. This deck will out last me. A great job so well done!

I just acquired my first home through my job and didn't know much about the housing maintenance so when someone recommended them i thought ok no problem but i should have known better. My job gave me a grant to use so he knew all this he overheard my realtor talking about grant funds for around $50,000 after he heard that he gave me an estimated price for that exact amount when the grant i was getting was actually $24,000 so after sending to the grant people they told him no it wasn't 50 it was 24 instantly he gave the new estimate with the exact scope of work he was going to charge 50 for now he put it to the 24 i should have known from then not to use him but i was naive and excited that i just acquired a house so i let it slide. After closing it took him 2months to come and start the work everyday was a different excuse find no problem.Eventually the job was finished everything looked ok at first but as months go by things started to fall apart slowly, first was the Dryer vent that he was supposed to put a new one in he didn't he actually had taped over the old one and remember he got the grant money to fix whatever he was supposed to fix it took him a week to send someone to put a new one in ok.Then next was furnace he had put in here comes the cold Im not feeling any heat after getting someone to look why we found out whoever he hired to install it they didn't turn it on again no problem mind you all this is within 6months or less of him finished working now thirdly here comes my soffit falling apart yes i understand that because of limited funds he didn't change the soffit because he guaranteed they needed not change just needed adjustments which he did but now they started falling apart and he refused to come back and tack them back and have the audacity to tell me if i write a bad review he will get a lawyer so go ahead and do so sir because you are a very unreliable person and you do not take pride in your work and i think you took advantage of me because Im a first time home buyer and didn't know better i would not recommend you or your services to anyone everyone I've used through my house buying i have recommended to multiple people already but you i will never!

My bathroom floor was not properly done. He claimed to of changed the subfloor. The grout came out three times. He attempted to fix it each time. He did not want to do the floor over because he claimed he did it properly.

Jack is a total professional. His team was on time and he was totally honest. Jack took time to accommodate my needs and budget, and had enthusiasm for my small project. Highly recommended.

The wires over the door did not allow the door to shut. He refused to fix the hanging wires and disconnected the house alarm. He refused to put on a new door knob we purchased for the door, stated he would come back another time. The storm door does not shut.

Customer service was great. Any time I had a question or had to speak with the owner. He called me back almost immediately. He kept to the schedule that was told to me in the beginning. I was able to trust him in my home alone while I had to run errands. I would recommend him to any of my friends and clients.
