Really great work all around. Some minor delays along the way....but Mike Evers was attentive and made sure all was right but the time he finished. I had meant to write this review earlier...but better late than never. Would recommend Cedar Construction for this type of work and would hire again.
Description of Work: Demolition of old kitchen. Opened wall between kitchen and dining room. Created a new doorway entry to our sun room off kitchen. Installed all new Ikea Cabinets , Counter tops and reworked all plumbing and electrical.

Patrick Eivers endanger our lives with his incompetecy and compromised the safety our home provides. Have all electrical work performed by Patrick Eivers INSPECTED because once the beautiful glass mosaic goes up, you will never know.
Description of Work: We decided to go with Ikea Cabinetry and a full kitchen remodel after seeing their beautiful displays and striking out with big names like Home Depot, Lowes and Consumers. We felt that if we were about to make such a large purchase, then we might as well pay for the kitchen that we liked and served our needs as opposed to the designers' needs and likes. Cedar Contracting does Ikea installs from floor tile with matching grout lines to double header ceiling fans and everything in between. Patrick, the owner is an electrician that does all the electrical work himself as well as the measurements. Something about Patrick, however, never sat well with me. Unable to pinpoint my uneasy feeling and his willingness to begin constructing the kitchen of my dreams, we moved forward. In fact they were so over zealous that the demolition crew didn't wheel out or protect our Stainless Steel refrigerator out of the kitchen as they put a jack hammer to the existing tile nor did they ever covered my wood floors as they dragged and dropped broken tile out the house damaging my hard wood floors. The 50 year old dust and debris that fell into my unprotected and finished basement after removing the sub floor and damaging my brand new front loader washer and dryer from the tip of the sharp end of the ShopVac was enough for me to halt the project after day one. We made nice, they cleaned up their mess and they finished the work. When it was all said and done, the kitchen is beautiful and is filled with so many features that we just referred to the damaged property as casualties of war. Fast forward two years and another kid and we call an electrician to fix some exterior lighting. Upon examining our house he realizes that the electrical wires running into the kitchen are NOT grounded. He also found exposed live wires as well as junction boxes not mounted properly if mounted at all, inadequate wiring unsuitable for electrical surges and basically a beautiful new kitchen with electrical work that does not meet code. Unfortunately for us, we were not able to see the deliberate and continuos disregard for safety Patrick Eivers demonstrated as he made the same mistakes time after time. Patrick Eivers left my home in a DANGEROUS condition and we do not believe he is an electrician by trade. Our kitchen now needs to be rewired by a real electrician at a considerable cost.

They came to measure our kitchen and submit it to ikea. our relationship with them was great at first. they were professional, their rates were reasonable and they seemed interested. when it came time to move forward however they completely stopped communicating with us. we called multiple times and no one answered and no one called us back. i understand that sometime people get very busy and if it wasn't possible for them to help us with our kitchen then all they needed to do was let us know. it was very frustrating because we had to change up all of our dates, plans, etc for the renovation until we found someone else.
Description of Work: they came to measure our kitchen for ikea custom design.

As described above - I would not recommend using this contractor. This is a true accounting of the events. I finally had Consumers come out to do the measurements and finally have a plan that we can work with. Yes, our kitchen is a bit askew - but these measurers are supposed to be professional.
Description of Work: We moved back from Switzerland and bought a house in Locust Valley, New York. The kitchen really needs to be remodeled. I went to Home Depot on 57th and 3rd and the kitchen was incorrectly measured. We decided to try IKEA in Hicksville after there was no correction to the Home Depot kitchen plan. A man came out and measured the kitchen. It was not the owner, but it could have been a partner. Cedar Construction does many of the IKEA installs. When we sat down with Vinny at IKEA (He actually works for Cedar), we went over the plans, which took about 2 hours. I was very happy with the design we came up with. There was just one problem - when arriving home and looking over the plans, we noticed (again) that the kitchen space was not measured correctly. We tried to rectify this several times with the man who measured the space and eventually the owner, Patrick, did come over himself to measure the area and confirmed the mismeasurment. He told us that he would take care of this and that Vinny would call us to reschedule. After several attempts to reach someone to plan the kitchen properly - there was no reply. Cedar Construction (and us eventually) dropped the ball. In my mind, with the economy being what it is, they should have bent over backwards to service our needs - especially since the original plan had us moving windows. Could have been about at 45,000 dollar job. I guess things are not as bad as reported in the media.

The project went very well. The workers/owner were very motivated to please us & altered original designs to suit our changing ideas. They anticipated issues that we were not aware of and appeared to take personal satisfaction in their craft. Owner, Pat was responsive by his cell or text. We are absolutely delighted with the result....and highly recommend them to others.
Description of Work: Complete kitchen renovation using Ikea cabinets & appliances. Additional carpentry with opening wall and finishing pantry/closet.

It was a small job and the one problem I had was finding a contractor. It took me a long time to find anybody that would do the work. It was shocking to realize in this economy that people did not want to do the work but they were not that way. Mike, one of the owners, came on time. They were recommended to me. They did an excellent job. My only complaint was that there could have been a little more coordination so it could have been done a little faster. They did an excellent job. They knew what they were doing and didn't have to redo things. I would definitely use them again and I would recommend them.
Description of Work: I used Cedar Construction for a general kitchen renovation. They ripped the whole thing off to the plywood. It included the flooring and new cabinets.

Our experience with Cedar was very positive. We did not ultimately use them for this project due to us not being ready for personal reasons. Their estimate was very reasonable, and they will work with you so that the price is satisfying to you. I haven't experienced that before. They are a family run business for several generations and IKEA certified, so I know they do good work. I will definitely call them when we are ready to proceed with this project.
Description of Work: We asked Cedar Construction for an estimate to demolish our old kitchen, install new cabinets, under-cabinet lighting, and appliances. They were very responsive at the outset, and came the next day to give an estimate. Patrick, one of the owners of the company did the measurements and gave us good advice on the IKEA cabinets that we were interested in. He tried to accommodate all our needs in the renovation without trying to oversell. We received an estimate the next day in an excel format that was easy to understand. They were prompt, efficient, and professional.
