The company has some very shady business practices - they talk a good game prior to the actual move but they are all about the bait and switch you once the contracts are signed. The primary salesman, I think his name is Jimmy or James, is truly one of the most dishonest and disrespectful people which whom I've worked. He lied repeatedly, pointed fingers very aggressively about any issues that emerged, and was just generally awful to work with. Their actual movers are lovely people but I would steer clear of this place - there are plenty of other options with more straightforward costs and better, more honest business practices.

After waiting patiently for the delivery, we received everything that was on our invoice.The dining room buffet had panels on both doors falling off. More importantly, our $1600.00 chandelier, which had been moved twice previously came to Florida completely ruined. Cracked, irreplaceable Spanish alabaster cracked and in bits and pieces,,torn wires, bent light holders... Pictures of the mess can be seen on facebook. You would be much better off renting a UHAUL.

UPDATE: have finished unpacking all the boxes now. Some small items are missing. There was damage to a couple of items. Company contacted me and offered to compensate me for missing/damaged items.
Description of Work: Packed boxes half full, did not label contents. Loading, transport and delivery went well. However, still don't know what's in many of the boxes.

They arrived early and took 3.5 hours to load 15pcs of furniture, and except for the bedroom set , most pcs were from Ikea, and 11 medium sizes boxes. Then it was another 1.5 to unload the truck. I felt bamboozled. It should have been 2.5 hours loading, and 1.5 hours unloading, 15 minutes travel time would have totaled 4 hours and 15 minutes, and then they could have charged 1 extra hour of over time, a cost of $110, instead of the $275. The wrapping of the television should have been included. The deal was for two men , a truck and four hours of moving. Although the trip from one place to another was 15 minutes they charged an entire hour. It seems you have to pay for them going back to their headquarters. I had an entire house moved by another company, in under 4 hours. I felt this was a switch and bait, and they intentionally took longer to pad the bill, plus I was charged $120/hrs overtime, when the deal said $110/hr, and $32 for putting a box over the television, when again the deal said professional wrapping and protection of furniture included. Never using them again. Ronnie from All American called me Sunday night to address my disappointment. We both thought that an hour's worth of overtime was fair, since the hour of transportation included the time taken to return to their location. This being said, I will be reimbursed $165 of the $275 that I felt I was overcharged. They submitted the credit on Monday, and I am waiting to see it post on my credit card. Because an effort was made to rectify this situation, I will amend my review.

Update to All American Van Lines' Response of March 29, 2016: Please check your records for accuracy when responding to our previous review of March 28, 2016. What you described in your response is what happened in the beginning of our initial contact with you. Yes, you did move us in "one day's notice" from storage onto your truck (in the time frame promised). At the end of this move, the moving crew gave us a sheet on the storage site to review them right away, and yes we gave them a 5 star because they were good. And yes, the charge was originally $3,735 for next day delivery, which we negotiated down with Arel (the estimator) to $3,500. However, you told us the price would be much cheaper if we waited 2 weeks. But in reading a January 26, 2016 review of your company from one of your customers, we saw that you quoted $2,000 (even though they winded up paying $4,000 because of hidden fees) from NYC to Raleigh, NC. Our move from Garden City, NY to Northern Virginia was 3 hours less and should have been cheaper, wouldn't you think? You should probably have a price list, and not just randomly pick a price out of a hat! To be clear, and so you understand, our review of March 28, 2016 on your company was based on our experience AFTER you moved our belongings onto your truck! You are giving a response based on half truth. You are right that we do feel moving is costly, and we did understand the reality of the moving market prior to hiring you because we had received other quotes! How dare you say we wrote "a poor review for a job well done." What we do understand is that you are trying to use the first part of the move, which was good, as a synopsis for the extravagant amount paid for waiting two weeks! We also understand that your response was geared toward a clean up for the public to read, but our review of March 28, 2016 stands as valid and true. If our review was not true, why would James call us on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 to ask us how much money it would take to change our poor (but truthful) review to a good one? James knew we were unhappy before the second move to VA. Why didn't your company try to rectify it then? However, even if you did pay us now (which you definitely should give us a refund), there is no consideration in not telling the truth, as it would not be fair to the public to give a distorted view of what really happened!!
Description of Work: First we spoke to James, who seemed nice at first. Then he sent one of their estimators named Arel Tsalach, who gave an outrageous price for immediate delivery. James told us if we wait 10 days-2 weeks, the price would be cheaper because we would share the cost with others on a tractor trailer, so we waited the 2 weeks and the price winded up being $3,400 ($100 less than the original price). When I called James to tell him I could have gotten my delivery 2 weeks earlier for $100 more, he hung up on me 2 times, and never called the last time (as he promised) to tell me when my credit card was going to be charged. James turned into a person that wasn't nice at all when he found out I had a complaint!! I don't recommended using this company if you have to deal with James!

They quoted me $2,000 and ended up doubling the fee; it was $4000. I had a terrible time with one of the guys there -- he was just so slick and just not easy to deal with. I was not happy with their service. They are from Long Island. I had gotten three estimates and theirs was the lowest. I probably should not have gone with them. I had a lot of stuff, but he came into my apartment and looked at everything that was going. I said to him on the phone that he came in and lowballed me to get the job. That is exactly what happened. Some of my precious antiques were broken, including some Chinese vases and Waterford Crystal. I don't think they are really an honest company. I could not even turn in an insurance claim for this through the moving company's insurance. The movers were okay. When they came here and looked at the stairs and said it was going to cost me. They knew I lived in a two story townhouse. At that time two of my friends who were male came by so he did not give me a hard time. Otherwise, he would have given me a hard time. They were here on time. When he gave me the estimate he led me to believe I would get my material on time in North Carolina, but I waited 10 days. They are very underhanded and very slick.

They were great. The stuff wasn't important to me. But if it had been important to me, they did ding it up a bit. The stuff was super duper heavy. It was older time furniture that weighs like a zillion pounds. I had to do a lot of directing. They were young guys. They did the best they could with what they had. I would definitely use them again.

Well. Any and all prices were negotiated and fair. Merchandise arrived in good condition and nothing was missing. Delivery men carried items up three floors, at 9000 feet altitude, and placed in designated rooms. Workers never complained even while sweating and straining to breathe at the high altitude. Crew could not have been nicer.

Frankly, it was scary at first because the two guys who came out were not very big, and they did not have much in the way of fancy equipment to help them move heavy stuff down a winding staircase or off and over solid wood floors. However, the guys really knew what they were doing, and had more than enough moving technique and experience to make up for lack of any obvious muscle or fancy equipment. They were prompt, fast, polite and efficient and got everything moved well with zero damage or incident to anything. Well done.
Description of Work: We needed some very heavy furniture moved from upstairs to our garage for subsequent donation or disposal. We wanted to used a reliable mover because there was material risk of damage to the floors and walls in moving these items.

It was a nightmare. Awful. We contracted the company because of the many positive reviews on Angie's List and the fact they were the only company who sent an appraiser to our house, stating this way there would be no hidden fees. The initial quote was for $1852, and in fact there were numerous hidden fees that they started to discuss after we agreed to retain their services. After I gave them an initial deposit, James, the sales rep, sent me an unreadable copy of they're estimate. He refused to send another one via email in a readable format. After the movers picked up our property, I was presented with the contract and told they would not write the final price and I had to sign the contract with it blank. I naively did this because I was leaving for California with my wife and three small children the next day and felt pressured that now they were in possession of my stuff I had to go along with what they were saying. My mistake. When James called with the final pricing, the cost has risen from $1852 to now $2380. James said the total weight of our move was 2400 pounds instead at the 2000 pounds minimum they had estimated. When I told him it wasn't possible because I had pre-weighed the boxes, he became very angry and aggressive, stating, "I tell people all the time don't worry about weighing it our scale is the only one that matters. I will re-weight it for you and charge you another $250 for the re weight.? (Later I found out, the company offers to re weight goods for free.) James had threatened me with the $250 fee to keep me from asking for the re weight and finding out the truth that my goods only weighed 1900 pounds instead of the 2400 pounds they were charging. On top of this initially it was estimated to take between 6 to 10 days to arrive in California. My property was picked up on August 14 2015 and didn't even leave for California until the middle of September. I made numerous calls attempting to ascertain an estimated delivery date, Upon which the calls were not returned. Eventually, eventually my property was delivered on September 20 2015. Upon delivery, I re weighed all of our boxes and our five other items to discover that in fact I was right, they had added an extra 500 pounds to the weight, and charged for 400 of those pounds at 95 cents per pound. They had also broken our mini crib for our infant son. Now that I had control of my possessions I called the owner of the company to discuss how they would like to rectify the situation since I had video evidence of the overweight. The owner offered to give me back the money. The next day I was sent a settlement agreement stating stating in exchange for the money they had overcharged me, I wasn't allowed to report the experience to any government agency or consumer group including Angie's list. I called the company's to speak with the owner again and discuss that this was not part of our arrangement that we agree to. He refused to take my call, but instead had James call me back. During that conversation James told me that it was the company's policy and have been for 30 years to force people to sign these contracts in exchange for any settlement. It suddenly became clear why I hadn't seen negative reviews on Angie's list. Upon calling Angie's list, to find out what type of action I could take I discovered the negative reviews that had been reported where exactly the experience I just suffered through.
Description of Work: The company was hired to move us from Astoria, NY to San Jose California. It was a small move with 40 boxes of stuff (clothing, etc.) plus 5 other items. They were contracted to pick the goods up at our apartment, transport the items cross country, and deliver them to our new apartment.

We do our best for every customer. For the most part we are successful as is seen by the hundreds of good reviews we have acquired on Angie’s List and all over the web. In the few cases we are not successful, we make it a priority to resolve any issues by providing the customer with repairs, resolutions, refunds etc. It is not our style to deface customers but this story is so far from the actual events that we would like to set the record straight. This customer contacted us over 35 times before the move, which we have on record. This was somewhat unusual since it was a small job where the average customer requires 3 communications on average, but were happy to respond politely each time. During the process, we found that the customer called different salesmen to negotiate various discounts and accommodations. Even though this was unethical on his part, in the interest of the customer satisfaction, we decided to let it go, and we still honored all his negotiations, bringing his price to less than the minimum rate. PROCESS OF THE MOVE The crew showed up on the time and date agreed upon and the pickup was performed to customer satisfaction. The delivery to California took place within the time frame provided both verbally and on the written contract, and was completed successfully. Despite this, the customer called repeatedly while the move was in transit from NY to CA, some times several time a day, in order to get an update. All his calls were taken and answered politely. The customer had one item damaged. A wheel on his baby’s bassinet was cracked. We immediately offered to replace the wheel or to provide monetary compensation. After the move was completed, the customer called the owner, saying he was very happy with the pickup and delivery crews but he did not like the sales manager. He said he had just weighed all his belongings on a home scale, and insisted we overcharged him on the weight. Every shipment is weighed on a D.O.T approved independent scale, as is required by law. We have certified receipts of the weight and are 100% sure that the weight is accurate. There is no way the customer could achieve an accurate weight by weighing all his furniture, dressers, beds etc., on a home scale! During the move process we did offer the customer to come and view the weighing, which he declined. Despite this, the customer insisted that he was correct and wanted compensation. We knew it was unfounded but being a reputable company, service is our number one priority and we decided to make the customer happy and move on. A standard release form was sent to the customer. This legal release form is not only standard in the moving industry, but is a standard legal document throughout the american legal system that’s used in every industry across the board. It states that once a company gives compensation to the client, the claim is resolved and actions on both sides cease. We certainly have no influence or control over reviews that are posted on Angie’s list or anywhere else. But we are proud of the fact that our reputation precedes us, and while unfortunately every great company gets a negative review now and then, the overwhelming majority of our reviews are filled with happy customers. They called Friday last minute to reschedule to next Wednesday. The company had to reschedule and they were not willing to take any additional furniture besides what was on the list prior to scheduling. I added another $110 because he said it was not enough due to the deal. It took them four and a half hours to move approximately 12 pieces of smaller furniture 8 miles away to my new house and they destroyed most of the furniture that was included on the van. The move did not go very well. There was quite a bit of damage to my furniture. Cracks, scratches, complete breakage on my furniture. The worse part is one of the legs on the platform bed which is cracked and is broken at the foot. You cannot lay on the bed because it will snap the other piece now. The platform bed railings were switched. The screws were tightened so tight that it came out the finished side due to over tightening. Because they swapped the railings they are now at an angle. They were supposed to put blankets on the furniture to protect but there are a bunch of ?rash marks? where its scratched. They cracked my childrens bunk bed set. They installed the railings on the bunk beds completely opposite. 90% of the screws were all stripped. I tried to explain my case to the owner. Who is orie. As I am trying to explain to him he starts to talk over me and then yells at me saying do not talk over me and getting Irrate with me. I then told him I would be going with a lawsuit if nothing is resolved

I needed somebody that was good at assembling and dissembling furniture and that's why I went with them. They were very good at taking apart our furniture, but some of the reassembling was a little off. We did not see these slight issues until after the move was completed and we were unpacking, etc. We did not have any damage to our furniture or other possessions. They were very friendly and courteous. They promised that they would be at our home between 9:00am and 11:00am on the day of the move, and they arrived before 11:00am. They are very good at following up and working with you to rectify any problems/complaints you may have during your move. I find that is very important to know that your relationship does not end when the moving crew leaves your premises. I would recommend them - because I like working with a company that delivers what they promise and if you have a problem will work to make sure it's fixed.

Very professional, arrived on time and cost was exactly what the estimate was quoted for. 3 man team to move a bedroom set. They were very professional and courteous. Very careful and respectful of furniture and home. Would definitely use again.
