Ray and his team were great to work with. We received quotes from several companies and when we had questions about stair installation, Ray came out and fully explained how they would complete the installation and fully addressed any concern that we had. Ray communicated with us regularly from the time we signed the contract to project completion. His team was punctual, respectful and made sure to clean up when they were done. There was a small issue with some boards in our dining room and it was resolved quickly and without hesitation. Our floors and stairs look fantastic. I highly recommend them and won't hesitate to use them in the future if the need arises!

The flooring guys from Ray Case are very, very good. Ray himself came to our home in December to review our project, discussed options, provided advice, and then submitted his estimate -- which we accepted. We had to time the flooring work carefully, as it had to fit in with other work we had going on in our home. A major renovation of the master bathroom, painting of various parts of the house, recarpeting of stairs and upstairs hallway, etc. The Ray Case team worked with us to set the schedule so the flooring work fit in perfectly. The first phase of the work, in January, was the most extensive, involving completely sanding the master bedroom and walk in closet floors with a large drum sander. Sanding dust is always a problem but the equipment used by Ray Case Floors did a good job of controlling and capturing the dust. The crew did a beautiful job of staining and finishing those floors. During this same week, the crew also buffed and recoated most of the hardwood flooring on our first floor. The crew came back in February to buff and recoat the remaining hardwood flooring. It couldn't all be done at once because we had to have a place to move furniture during the first phase. While the crew didn't move all the furniture (we had previously moved most of it), they did help with furniture moving in the second phase. They even loaned us their furniture moving wheel sets so we could put the living and dining room furniture back after the coating had dried. They they stopped back by following the weekend to pick up their wheel sets and to check and make sure everything was completed OK.
Description of Work: We had Ray Case Floors in our home twice to complete the floor refinishing part of a recent renovation project. In early January 2014 they completely sanded, stained, and finished existing red oak hardwood floors in master bedroom and walk in closet. They also buffed and recoated existing hardwood floors in most of our first floor (about 1000 sq ft). In February we had them back in to buff and recoat the remaining hardwood floors of our first floor (dining and living rooms).

never left any mess behind, and did a fantastic job. This was an enjoyable experience, and I highly recommend Ray Case Flooring!
Description of Work: Ray Case Flooring replaced the wood floors in two bedrooms and the upstairs hallway. The price was reasonable, and the new floors look fantastic! It really changes the whole appearance of the upstairs. Mr. Case came promptly, and gave the written estimate within days ( I am still waiting on estimates from others I called!). The work began on the day stated. The Installers were professional,

I pulled up a living room carpet that had been down for over 30 years, hoping to find a pristine oak floor. What we found was a dark red stain around the perimeter that looked as if there had been an area rug down before the wall-to-wall carpet. There were also several spots from pet stains where the wood was black. Received several quotes, but it was clear that most flooring companies are not interested in a small job with issues! Ray was actually the lowest bid and the only one that assured me that the red stain would come out and that if they couldn't remove the pet stains they would repair the floor. The workman showed up on time and explained the process in detail. Everything went perfectly and the floor looks beautiful. They did end up replacing some of the boards, but I can't even tell which ones they replaced. All of the red stain came out I couldn't be more pleased. I would recommend Ray Case for new floors, refinishing, and even installation of the pre-finished wood floors. When I mentioned his name at work, it turns out that he as done flooring jobs for many of my co-workers and everyone has been very pleased with his work. He isn't always the cheapest -- as he was in my case, but I think he is probably the best.

They came out looking many times better than they had. We had recently purchased the house and thought to ourselves it was a good thing the owners didn't do this or the house could've gone for a bit more. Protected, gleaming floors look brand new and they are circa 1960 peg/board configuration. A+ work; A+ communication will gladly utilize again.

We actually had to push the start out by a day because the asbestos contractor wasn't finished. Ray was able to be flexible and they compressed the job into 3 days. The crew showed up on time, was absolutely professional and did an amazing job. The floors are truly gorgeous. They used a product Glitsa and it is a beacgutiful finish; it does not have that overly thick, filled-in-grain look of cheap polyurethane finishes. These guys were meticulous; we can't find any dust particles in the finish. Ray came by to check on the work. He ended up charging exactly what the telephone estimate was, despite the fact that they repaired a section of a closet floor (which we had been unaware of). My husband and I have even been in dispute about the size and shape of the repair - because we honestly can't tell where it was! The color and even the spacing of the nail-sets matches perfectly. We are definitely having Ray Case do our kitchen floor. My husband told me to tell you the quality was an A+++! Really great experience, all around.
Description of Work: Before we moved into our new - very old - home, we had Ray Case refinish our 70 year old 3/4 inch oak floors in four rooms and connecting hallways. We were in an awkward situation, as we did not have access to the house for Ray to give us a quote. We trusted our Angie's list friends and just hired him over the phone. He told me the hourly rate and estimated the price based on the dimensions and condition I reported.

Job was done as described above. Work was done on time and we are very pleased with the results! One word of caution however. Be sure to disable your CO detectors and/or security system until the varnish fumes are well dissipated. Ours was not and we had unexpected visits from the local fire department and police because we were out of town at the time.
Description of Work: Repaired damaged hardwood flooring in a large area, filled in sections that had not been covered with hardwood or had holes drilled through, put shoe molding throughout areas. Areas were 1). Large master bedroom, 2). Hallway, and 3). Large walk-in closet. All flooring sanded and refinished. It looks wonderful!

Ray Case stopped by the house to give the estimate and develop the scope of the work. The work was performed by two of Ray Case's employees who have been in the business for quite some time and were very skilled at the craft. Other providers who gave us a quote included a wall damage waver and toted a special dustless system. Ray Case did not include the waive and the technicians were careful not to damage the freshly painted walls. The work was done and the area cleaned in such a way that there was no dust to clean up after they completed the job. The work was done over six months ago now and the floors still look as clean and shiny as they did the day the work was completed; and we have two medium sized dogs that like going in and out of the house in all weather. We added shoe molding to the project while the floors were being finished. The additional cost for the molding was less than if I tried to buy on my own from a commercial building supplier. I would definitely recommend, and have recommended Ray Case to others.

Overall, we were tremendously satisfied with the work performed. The estimate was completed by the company owner - Ray Case - and we received a quote promptly. It should also be noted that Ray - throughout the entire process - communicated with us directly and also worked well with all of our other contractors. At the appropriate time, the crew worked with our contractor to arrange for the installation of new flooring and the patching of existing flooring. For approximately one week, the house had to be empty for the staining and sealing of all of the floors. After this was complete, a crew came to remove all dust and reinstall and moved items. Mr. Case also completed a final inspection walk through. The quality of the workmanship and reasonableness of the price cannot be matched. I would highly recommend this company.

It took two days, total...sand, clean, and apply base coat of sealer the first day, apply both second and third coats on the second day. The first day, they showed up at about 10 AM (after a phone call saying that another job would delay them from the original 8 AM time specified). Dave and Rich were efficient and polite, and finished the initial sanding and cleaning within three hours. There was some dust, but since this was an attic area separated from the rest of the house by a closed door, it wasn't a problem for the rest of the house. That said, it was relatively warm that day and we were able to turn the forced-air heat off so that it wouldn't circulate the dust, and that probably helped a lot. They also put a portable fan in one of the windows of the area being treated to exhaust the dusty air. In the afternoon, they applied the first coat of sealer in about an hour (see notes 1 and 2, below), and left for the day to let it cure. They left their fan in the window to help exhaust the fumes and keep the house livable. On the second day, Dave showed up at about 10 AM to apply the second coat of sealer...he was done before noon. He returned in early afternoon to apply the final coat of sealer. On his way out, he noted that he would leave the exhaust fan in the window overnight to exhaust the fumes. As I write this (11 AM the next day) he has not returned to retrieve the fan, which we removed from the window when we got up this morning. We're going to wait a few more days before we start re-loading the room to make sure the sealer is completely cured. We can still smell the sealer a bit but it's not overwhelming and the floor IS absolutely beautiful. Note 1: The Glitsa sealer is solvent-based and leaves quite a thick solvent odor when first applied. We were lucky in that the area we had processed was on the 2nd floor of our house and mostly sealed off from the first floor (except for the forced-air heat noted above). We didn't have to move out while the job was done, but unless you have such an isolated area being done, BE PREPARED TO SPEND A COUPLE OF DAYS LIVING SOMEWHERE ELSE. Or go with the polyurethane, which isn't as stinky, but which also doesn't stand up to wear and traffic as well. Note 2: Dust is the enemy of a refinished floor...it should be sparkling clean before the sealer is applied, or that dust can clump and make lumps and dark spots on the floor which are under the sealer and therefore permanent until the next sanding. After the floor was sanded and vacuumed, I noted a layer of fine dust on the floor while Dave was moving equipment around before applying the first coat of sealer. I pointed this out to him, and he acknowledged it, but did nothing about it at that time. When he came back into the house carrying a bucket of sealer, I said, "I don't want you putting sealer over that dust." His rather surly response was, "Relax, this isn't the first floor I've ever done! The vaccum cleaner is still up there...I'm not done yet," and then proceeded to mumble a string of deprecatory remarks about my intelligence and the species of my parents (my mother in particular), sprinkled liberally with "F-bombs," when he thought I could no longer hear him. It is this incident that is responsible for the "C" grade in professionalism. I'm sure he gets nosy homeowners all the time, and I have to admit that the finished result is quite good, but Dave's attitude needs adjustment. I'm not stupid, and an explanation would have gone a long way farther toward easing my fears than the string of invective he unleashed when he thought I was out of earshot.

From the time we were visited for an estimate until the completion of the job, we were impressed. Everyone we dealt with at Ray Case was punctual, knowledgeable about the work, and conscientious. We were well-informed about what to expect as far a noise, fumes, etc - This was so helpful in that we could prepare our home, pets, and ourselves before the work started. Over the course of the week it took to complete the job, the gentleman (and YES, he was a gentleman) doing the work kept us informed about what was done and next steps. Our floor looks wonderful - like new! We are SO happy with the floor and our experience with Ray Case.

We had to choose a stain from across the country so they sent some samples home with my husband. They talked with us over the phone and when I got to town they were already sanding the floors.
