It is always good to meet someone who enjoys what they do and Steve seems to enjoy refurbishing pianos. He wants the instrument to sound its best and has pride in his work. He does not push a sale and wants the purchaser to be happy with want they bought in the future. We are happy with not only the piano but the service and efficiency he proved in delivery and a subsequent included tuning.

I had called looking for a piano to be moved within my house, from the lower level to the upstairs. Steve was not available for the job but referred me to another gentleman who was able to come right away and move the piano. The job was seamless, the mover was extremely accommodating and gracious, and everything was perfect. I really appreciated the referral and especially the time spent on assisting me when there was nothing to be gained by Steve in doing so, at the end of the day. I would go to Steve again next time I need a piano service, and recommend him highly.

I have an old Steinway that needs some work. Steve came over right away and gave me an estimate. He is clearly very knowledgeable, and explained what parts need replacement and why, is well as what he wouldn't touch. He explained a lot about moving pianos, and sound boards, the hammers and action and the like. I will be hiring him to refurbish my piano sometime in the spring, but I wanted this listing to go in right away.

Steve did a great job. I was very happy with the service and would not hesitate to recommend him. I will continue to use him for ongoing piano tuning.

Hiring Steve Oliver was the best thing that could have happened to our piano. I contacted him solely from recommendations off Angie's List and couldn't have been happier. Steve is extremely personable, professional, prompt and honest. We found him to be a craftsman and fine technician in the care and upkeep of pianos. Our natural instinct in years past was to allow various music teachers to refer tuners, but the improvement of the sound after Steve did his work, was beyond compare. It's like he made the piano come alive. It was playable before, but it's musical now!!! My husband and I highly recommend Steve for any piano upkeep. Additionally, when we are in the market for a new piano we will purchase from him purely from his expert knowledge on the mechanics of how the sound of a piano is created and sustained. Steve is a true craftsman and had true respect for the sentimental value of my Hammond piano. I went to many piano restoration services who told me that it wasn't worth their time. It is a beautiful piano with a rich sound and Steve was able to tweak and restore it to perfection. They do not build pianos like this anymore. Steve saw the personal value in it for me and did a great job.

Steve Oliver is wonderful! I was nervous about hiring someone who was not directly recommended by a friend, but I needed someone to service my Piano Saver humidifying system as well as tune the Steinway (my previous tuner was no longer available). I am so glad I called Steve. He was very responsive and easy to schedule with. He showed up right on time. He installed the Piano Saver system and pointed out that it had been installed incorrectly the first time. The installation took about an hour - it's a complex system of a tank, rods and a hose and it needs to be mounted underneath the piano. Steve then tuned the piano and it sounds beautiful! He is going to come back and move the piano for me when I have new carpeting installed. He's easy to work with, easy to be around, and explains everything well. He is my go-to piano guy from now on! Regarding the price, the $900 included the cost of the Piano Saver system, the installation, and the tuning.

Our Baldwin Acrostic piano had been neglected for too many years. Steve came and analyzed all the problems. It had to be tuned several times because it had been treated so badly for so long. Steve removed the hammers and took them to his shop to be refurbished. The piano now plays like new and we can't wait for Steve to deliver the piano to our son's house so we can continue to enjoy its lovely sound. Thank you Angie's list for the wonderful referral.

I'm so glad I found Steve, the man who met all my needs: Piano moving, piano repairing and piano tuning. Yes, all three! And with quality work! I bought a baby grand from my neighbor. Steve was very responsive and knowledgable. After the moving, he let the piano settled for two weeks (very important) and then he fixed my keyboard and finished the tuning. Now the piano is gorgeous and the sound is so beautiful!! Highly recommend Steve!

Steve is extremely knowledgeable and professional. Without an instrument, he still noticed the heaviness of the keys. He drove the keyboard to Long Island himself to speed the process along. He is meticulous, conscientious and highly skilled. It was a joy to work with him. He spent a long time adjusting my Steinway to make it "sing."

My last review was pre-delivery of the finished product where I stated that I hadn't seen the finished product yet but that I was sure that it would probably exceed my expectations. I just want you to know that that is exactly what happened. I absolutely love the beautiful finish of the wood. It turned out exactly the way I had hoped it would. Steve certainly is an artisan and a perfectionist. His excellent work speaks for itself. Thank you for your diligent attention to detail in restoring life back into this lovely instrument of mine. Steve followed up with me, just as he said he would when he delivered my beautifully restored piano a few months ago, in order to tune it which is a normal and necessary procedure after all the work done on it. His attention to all details is impressive as is his pleasant and professional manor. He takes his time to accomplish the task at hand and always answers any questions we have. I can't help but stop and admire the new rich wood grain and finish of the wood as I pass the room. I love it. It looks like a brand new piano inside and out. I found steve on Angie's list. I sent an email and he got back to me quickly and I was able to schedule for the next day. He came on time and tuned the piano. The piano is old and will require some more tuning and some work. I will use steve again and I would recommend him to you.

Steve did another outstanding job. I had used him last year to tune the piano and had him back again. I had been having trouble with keys sticking and other issues and he was able to realize that it was an issue with the hammers and also one of the pedals. He spent several hours here taking things apart and fixing them . The piano is in excellent condition now. His cost was very very reasonable for the hours and all the work he performed. I would highly recommend him .

We came to Steve with a 120 year old Steinway grand that's been in my family for 4 generations. It had fallen into a state where it was nearly unplayable. Because of its age, and its sentimental value, I was nervous to let anyone touch it! Steve did a phenomenal job with the restoration -- our century old instrument looks and feels practically brand new! He did a particularly great job with the ivory. Since it's a piece with family history, I wanted to keep as much of the original ivory as possible, even though it was cracked and chipped in many places. Steve was able to salvage nearly all of it and refinish the keys so that they're all solid and feel good under the fingers! I couldn't be happier with the work he did, and I hope the piano will stay in my family for another 100 years!

From my first impression of Steve coming into my home and assessing the situation I was very impressed with his knowledge, and his suggestions which included options which we could pursue. He was very forthright and interested in answering every question I had about the whole process. He is very professional, yet personable, and detailed in explaining the process he would take to restore this old family heirloom piano. I'd highly recommend Steve. I had a really out-of-tune piano because of years of neglect. He gave me the options for what he could do and how much they would cost. I opted for a onetime tuning now, to make the piano passable, and if my daughter continues to take lessons, we'll go for a more extensive series of tunings to really bring the piano back to where it should be. He was understanding and very helpful with his advice.

Steve and i seem to have had a miscommunication. This may have been contributed to by the fact that we were texting. Perhaps it would have been better if we spoke on the phone. Who knows- maybe old technology- the old fashioned phone call would have been better? In brief, we had a miscommunication about time. I will try to hook up with Steve in the future and update my review then. The only thing I can comment is on price. Steve said he would charge $150 to tune my baby grand. I know it is in very good condition- and it has been tuned regularly. The only reason I was seeking another tuner is that the guy I usually use lives far away. I do not know if my "B" rating for good is accurate enough to guide people.I have seen prices quoted on the web from $125 -$200. But in the end the only way to know how fair a price is, is to be base it on the actual work performed. If the tuner finds problems and needs to spend more time, his price might be increased. Many people have given Steve good ratings, so even though I did not use him, the opinions of other reviewers should count more.

The piano was well-tuned and the pedal was readjusted well. Very professional and knowledgeable. The fee was reasonable. Will use him again.
