They didn't not connect the pipes properly. The gas leaked and the unit stopped working. They came back on a Saturday to fix a problem. I asked not to charge weekend overtime fee. They said they wouldn't but later they tried to charge me an extra and I had to fight to get them to honor what they originally promised. They were also late by more than two hours.

David came out to my home at the appointed time. He did not talk about any equipment nor did he ask about zoning and he only measured the large rooms of my home. The layout he proposed would rip across the ceiling in my son's room- which I would have to patch. He also suggested to put the return in the wall as opposed to the ceiling. Not a big deal, however he didn't even ask nor did he look at my electrical panel. He provided a quote for 3 systems: Good, Better and Best. I just need one as I wouldn't consider a system that was not Energy Star rated or better. In addition, I did not get any information nor was I given a website to check out the equipment that he put in his proposal. DId not use- his proposal did not provide enough detail and left too many unanswered questions.

They are reliable. Their cost is fair and I use them on a regular basis. They did a good job and they were timely. The workers were excellent and very professional. . They are usually good at sending the same person so that we get some sort of consistency. He gets to know the house and we in turn comes to know him. I would use them in the future.

Bruni and Campisi installed a water filtration system in our home. The man who came to give us an estimate was late but called. They did a good job on the work, but they are extremely expensive. When we wanted additional work done their quoted price was more then twice that of a competitor. For this reason, we would not hire them again.

They seemed to do a thorough job but recommended that I had to change my boiler. That it was a hazard and dangerous even though it seemed to be working fine. I had a few estimates done and finally got a second opinion from another HVAC company who said the boiler was perfectly fine and did not need to be replaced.

Response from Bruni & Campisi
Our technicians are trained to test and check for proper and safe combustion and check and advise our customers during the annual servicing of their boilers if repairs are needed. During an Annual Servicing of this customers gas-fired boiler we found the refractory (insulation) at the rear of the combustion chamber breaking apart, in very poor condition and leaning over into the burner area. In addition, (and probably because of this situation) carbon monoxide was being produced, however not in sufficient amounts to warrant an emergency shutdown of the system due to an unsafe condition. Instead, he showed the customer with his internal camera/scope exactly what was happening with the refractory within the boiler. He also showed the customer the carbon monoxide readings as the boiler efficiency test was performed. He then advised this customer of his findings in writing on his service ticket (which was signed twice by the customer) that the boiler should “either be repaired or replaced”. There was/is no question that this boiler is need of either repair or replacement. At no time did we indicate that it could not be repaired or that the replacement of this boiler was mandatory. We subsequently sent our estimator to their home and, after viewing the age and condition of the boiler, he recommended and provided them with a written proposal to replace the boiler with a more efficient one. It’s our obligation as a professional HVAC company to advise our customers if there’s a problem with their heating system that must be addressed. (If we don’t, who will?) Unfortunately, this customer received a second opinion after “..a few estimates..” that differed from ours and have chosen to ignore both the camera view and the test readings we’d showed them during our annual servicing, and instead question our honesty as a company. We are an honest and ethical company, have been in business for over 30 years providing Plumbing and HVAC service to customers in Westchester county, NY and Lower Fairfield County, CT., and support only honest and ethical behavior from everyone in our company. We’ve successfully serviced this customer on other occasions for over 5 years yet they never attempted to contact us after receiving a different opinion about this boiler problem but instead ignored: a) what they’d actually been shown and b) our service ticket they received (and signed twice) indicating the boiler could be either repaired or replaced, and instead chose to question our honesty on Angie’s List. Had they contacted us we would have gladly returned and proven the second opinion erroneous. Regardless, it’s our intention to contact this customer and attempt to show them the problems with their boiler once again so they fully understand the repair that is necessary, deal with it appropriately so it doesn’t become a possible safety issue, and ultimately recognize our honesty.

Doug the estimator spent plenty of time with us explaining what the work crew would need to do. He also reassured us that he could find a replacement toilet in the half-bath that would fit the abnormally small floor slab and mount. He also showed sensitivity to related issues in the laundry room, the path of the pipes and other fixtures in the area. When we had further questions, Doug reassured us of the procedure and services B/C would provide. The crew came on time (early in the morning) on the appointment day and they were finished in a day (originally the estimate was for more than a day). They cleaned up well and our new fixtures are working fine. I have a feeling that Bruni and Campisi are expensive - but we have learned the hard way over the 30 years in this house that you get what you pay for - and the premium we may be paying has always come with a professionalism and attention to finish and pride in workmanship. This job was no exception. From the receptionist to the estimator and the work crew, we've always experienced a high level of quality and service. I'd call them again for any plumbing emergency or issue. We originally called them several years ago with a weekend night emergency and their service, though not cheap, was responsive, swift, comprehensive, and followed up admirably.
Description of Work: We were converting a small half/bath room on our ground floor which only had an old toilet and a closet - we bought a small vanity, removed the closet doors and finished the area, and needed a new toilet and the feed/drain installed on the vanity sink. B/C sent Doug the estimator and it was apparent right away that he really knew his plumbing - we have an old house and previous experiences with B/C had shown us that they would improve existing plumbing as they remedied a current problem - Doug's analysis was consistent with that attitude. The plumbing in our basement laundry room provided the source for the new vanity immediately above, but there were issues with the current laundry room setup (not up to code, etc). A new large diameter drain leg needed to be tapped into the existing waste drain. That needed to go through a concrete wall (the original foundation before house was expanded) into the adjacent laundry room to serve as a large diameter waste drain for the clothes washer (up to current code/practice - had been too small and high). The existing waste for the toilet upstairs in the half bath already had a leg for (washer) waste and that was adapted for the new vanity waste. Existing h/c feed for the washer was replaced with proper pipe and cutoff valves, and run to the new vanity. A new toilet was installed upstairs (old one taken away) that fit the small mount pad.

I must say t hat all the work this company has done is absolutely fantastic. The water heater has lasted the longest of all I have ever had. The heating system and air-conditioning were perfect for the needs of my home and various plumbing needs were taken care of expeditiously. When I had problems with a pump they installed, they replaced it immediately with a new one at no cost. When a problem occurred with the new heating system they installed, they were relentless in their attempts to fix it and I have had no problems with either since then. All of their workers are punctual, pleasant and stick to the end with you until you are satisfied. I wish all companies could be like this.

What a great experience. Appointment was scheduled as requested, called before arriving, exactly on time. Diagnosed each problem and repaired. At all times, efficient, careful, clean and courteous. Showed us what the problem was and explained the "fix" before doing the work. Was especially careful of fixing a faucet in my tub/shower that was surrounded by tile -- made sure the tile was not damaged. Explained the bill in detail -- was exactly as explained to me when I booked the appointment. And Sal, the plumber, was a delight!

We called them back a week later. We called them, they were prompt. The gentleman was a little rude as he walked into my house saying, "who's in charge here and how are you going to pay for this service?" I advised the company about this, and they said they wouldn't send him out again. He fixed the problem, and within an hour I was back on the phone with the company to have someone else come out. After about the forth time that someone came back out, the problem was finally fixed with the upstairs unit. It was somewhat expensive because they had to come back so many times. He is scheduled to come back this week to repair the downstairs unit. He had to buy a very expensive part, which seems to be inevitable. On the whole, I plan on working with their warranty system, and I would recommend them to anyone. I am comfortable that they will be able to take care of my problems for me. This whole thing is going to end up costing around $6,000 to fix completely. When they came out the very first time, we had the option to have them come out and fix the system the first time. The guy advised of what was needed for permanent repair. My husband chose not to make that contract with them, but instead to go with the guy who put the system in--which made the cost go up for us with each passing visit because the guy never called back and never came out. Bruni and Campisi have really helped us out.
Description of Work: We called them in an emergency situation. They came the day that we called. He fixed one unit and couldn't fix the other one right away due to a free-on leak. The cost is just for the emergency repairs when the system was not drained properly--it was just a band-aid fix in the beginning.

We asked them to fix a leaking radiator. They sent someone same day. They guy started the clock on us as soon as his car stopped in the driveway (he sat in the car for 10 minutes before getting out). He walked in, took one look at the radiator, said we needed a new radiator. He went into the basement and drained out the system (half of the water ended up in our basement). I asked him if he could remove another radiator, which he did (but he didn't cap it). He then wrote me out a bill for an hour's worth of service (the "clock" had reached 35 min by then... they charge $40 + $55/half hour) and said someone would be by in a few days to give us an estimate of how much a new radiator would cost. So basically we paid $160 to be told we had a broken radiator. Thanks.
Description of Work: We asked them to fix a leaking radiator. The services he performed were (1) told us we needed a new radiator (2) attached a hose to the water boiler and drained the water out. And (3) used a wrench to loosen 2 nuts to remove a radiator.

Due to the extreme heat last summer, demand for their services was high; we contracted for a new system and had to wait 3 weeks before it could be installed. The crew was professional, extremely neat, and hard-working. The only problem encountered was as stated above, when the system would not turn on, due to the fact that our existing thermostat was not compatible with the A/C system that they had installed. No one on site could pinpoint the problem and they had to scramble to locate a supervisor who would come and then to locate a new thermostat to install that was compatible. We received no supporting documents, i.e. warranty/guarantee, nor any info about the system itself, with the crew stating that the office would send them to us. I had to call for months before they were sent. BUT, I would highly recommend this company, as they were professional, polite, and attentive, arriving when they said they would and cleaning up each day. I am also confident that they stand behind every product and service they provide.
Description of Work: Bruni & Campisi installed a new central air conditioning system, including a new evaporator coil, insulated copper refrigerant piping, new cement pad under the unit; connection to existing condensate discharge piping. They did not provide or install a new thermostat, until after it was discovered that the existing thermostat was not compatible with the system they had provided, which meant having to have a supervisor come to the house to figure out why the newly installed system would not work. They also connected the existing A/C electrical wiring to the new A/C, which is how the supervisor finally determined the problem.

In all our dealings we have been impressed with the quality of the work done. While pricing may be on the somewhat higher side, I'm a believer in you get what you pay for. All installations were expertly done and have performed well. Service and documentary support for high-efficiency energy tax-savings were exemplary. Appointments were always kept. In sum, I am very pleased and would recommend this vendor for similar services.
Description of Work: In May, 2010 we replaced our (outdoor) air conditioner compressor with a 16 SEER Carrier model. Previously in Dec, 2009 in an emergency situation just before we were to leave for an overseas vacation, Bruni and Campisi on short notice in the winter replaced our gas furnace with a Carrier 80% efficiency model. Years previous to that, they had repaired dampers, installed a new control box and thermostats. We have annual inspection customer service contract with them.

installed so they had to come and fix that. I had difficulties with the units leaking water onto my walls so I had to get a paint job. After my warrantee was up, I continued to have the same problem but they claimed no responsibility. Finally I got it resolved because Mr. Campisi came to my house and sent one workman over to take a look at it. His statement was that this was the last thing they?d do for it. As it turned out, the workman happened to spot the problem and fixed it. This could have been done months and months before if they had done their job properly. Even though it was ultimately fixed, I found them to be unsatisfactory to work with. They would send different representatives every time and some were good but some were horrible.
