I ended up ordering a new hot water heater from Bruni and will be having Bruni come back to install and remove the present one however I think they need to do something about giving me a refund on the dehumidifer hook up.
Description of Work: I had an air conditioning tune up which went well. The second project was to set up the dehumidifier to the sump pump which the technician had never done before and he left thinking it was working but it was not. I contacted Bruni to have someone come back a second time. He came back a second time thinking he had figured it out but it still was not working the next day when i checked. I had to lift it and set it on something higher to get it working . I asked for a refund and I am waiting for a response. The other job was plumbing which went well no complaints at all. So since i had 3 jobs with 2 technicians it is hard to rate,

B&C did an outstanding job of identifying the problem, obtaining the service part and returning the defective piece for a warranty claim. It is from there that everything just fell apart. I have since been billed incorrectly, my credit card has been charged without my approval and weeks of attempted resolution (including me providing all of the documentation to prove the incorrect billing) have been essentially ignored. What a shame. Great workmanship with terrible back office support.

My new water heater was a tricky install thanks to various safety features required in our multi-unit dwelling (condos in a very old house). Tony A. was amazing ? he worked like 2 horses on a brutally hot day to get it installed and running properly, and arranged for an HVAC person (Paul ? also great) to come and make sure the safety features were properly configured. Tony even came back in the evening to work with Paul directly. This had to have been a brutal day for both of them, but they were consistently polite and professional. I really appreciated that Tony walked me through my options, made sure I got a model with a 10-year warranty on the tank and then explained the key features (e.g., like how to light the pilot). Most importantly, they stuck to their quote even though the installation turned out to be much trickier than expected. That goes a long way with me. I would use them again in a heartbeat. Their pricing was reasonable. When it comes to plumbing and heating, I'm not looking for the cheapest price, I'm looking for someone I can trust to give me good advice and do quality work at a fair price. That's what I got. BTW, B&C's scheduling tends to be a little optimistic, so don't be surprised if they arrive late. Not to worry, they'll get the job done, and I never felt like they were rushing through the work to get back on schedule.

Since a leak occurred on an old pipe section in the house, replacement was necessary in a hard to get area behind the carpentry of a finished basement and acoustic ceiling. Since it required some coordination with a carpenter which I found difficult setting up, they brought their own carpenter who was delicate in breaking down a pathway to the pipes and repaired both the ceiling and carpentry areas flawlessly. They made it a no stress job for me and avoided unnecessary extensions beyond what was needed. I was very happy with their carpenter, VC Construction, White Plains, NY and of course I?ve used Bruni & Campisi for almost 30 years with the utmost of confidence.

I am very pleased with Joe D. from Bruni and Campisi. The next time I need service, I will ask for him in particular. The company should be very proud to have such a good employee.
Description of Work: Joe D came to my house to replace my hot water heater. Another worker had been here and looked at the unit and told me it needed replacement. Joe D looked at the unit and told me he thought he could fix it. He had a part in his truck and he fixed it and saved me hundreds of dollars. He was courteous, kind and respectful. He obviously knows what he is doing.

I've used Bruni & Campisi a few times over the last 3 years. They originally installed the HVAC system in my home prior to my purchase, and I kind of inherited them. Although, I was under no obligations to use them, I initially called them for an emergency leak, and I've been using them ever since. They have always been responsive and professional and I've had no complaints on the work they've done for us.

The plumber's name was Sal Lembo. Very professional and courteous. Following an initial discussion with the customer, Sal immediately started working. He covered the area with a drop cloth, made sure that nothing was in the way and brought in the necessary tools and parts from the truck. The job went smoothly. Sal was very precise and knew exactly what to do step after step without any hesitation. During the entire job he also repeatedly cleaned up any dirt or debris accumulating from the job. The installation tuned out well and I'm very satisfied with the result. I would definitely ask for Sal if and when I need any additional plumbing work to be done.
Description of Work: Installed sink and pedestal purchased by customer. Old sink and vanity cabinet were already removed by customer. Customer had originally planned to do the installation himself but due to required modifications, tight conditions and lack of certain tools, customer decided to use Bruni & Campisi.

Joe came within two hours of my call, which I greatly appreciated, particularly since he had been on the job since early morning and had other calls still to make (and this was at 6:00 at night). I accepted his recommendation to replace the sump pump since it looked likely to fail completely at any moment. Though I don't go into my half-basement very often as access is difficult, my furnace and hot water heater are down there and a pump is critical to keeping the groundwater out of basement. I definitely appreciated Bruni & Campisi's responsiveness and Joe Diaz's courtesy and efficiency. I will certainly call on them again.
Description of Work: Bruni & Campisi sent Joe Diaz to my house in Rye, NY, on a Saturday, on an emergency basis, because my sump pump was running continuously following a day of heavy rain. Based on Joe's look at the struggling pump (and by this point, its motor was smoking) we agreed to replace the pump.

Contacted them to add that third room and they told me I would have to add another compressor because I couldn't have three. I called the company, who had either mislead me or didn't know what they were doing. They were unresponsive. Finally I wrote a letter and the owner called back and got my voice mail requesting that I call him back. They have been unresponsive ever since. I wrote another letter just yesterday to express my disappointment.

David was a most professional, caring service man, who explained what he was doing clearly, and when he had not finished the final work came back early the next morning to do so; he went beyond the necessaryu installion, cutting a piece of metal to fit over back of unit, so that objects would not fall in open gap in back, and sealing up a hole into wall where pipes came into unit. I would certainly use Bruni and Campesi again....and would hope to have David back. Bravo! The experience was a very good one.

The technician, Paul Jones, arrived when I was told he would arrive at my house in Rye on May 14, 2013. From the beginning to the end , Paul was professional, pleasant, thorough and patient. I trust Bruni and Campisi from many years of experiencing their excellent and high quality work . Paul is a great representative of the company because of his caring and expertise. I am what is commonly called a neat-freak, but Paul didn't bat an eye when I asked him to don my special-order booties as soon as he stepped in the house. What's more, he was very courteous about removing the booties and putting them back on numerous times during the course of the work. One A/C unit is in the attic and one is in the boiler room, so every time up those rickety attic stairs required the booties to come off and as soon as he came down, required them to be on again. Same for going into and out of the basement boiler room. And in and out of the house. It's annoying, but Paul was very good-natured and respectful of my concerns. I also felt confident that the work was being done systematically and thoroughly, without rushing or shortcuts. But it was also done promptly.I like to watch what's being done and ask questions and so I got a good feeling about it. I was happy that Paul took the time that day to replace a part that needed replacing instead of saying he would have to come back. An easy experience!
Description of Work: Annual maintenance check for two air conditioning units: replaced two Aprilaire filters, blew out condensate pipes and cleaned with a bleach solution, checked that floats worked to prevent condensate water overflow in case pipe gets clogged, checked operation and performed checklist on two outside units, replaced condensate trap in one unit where it needed to be upgraded.

When we renovated our basement, we needed to move a bunch of pipes around. Got an estimator to bid the project, these guys came in on the low end. They did good work, were clean, but some of the materials they used were low quality (gas valve handles broke off two shut-off valves - metal corroded after just a couple years). I had some add-on work to do (add another gas line and another water line), so the guys on site said they will do the work and add it on at the end. Well, what an idiot I was... because the minor work I added on was billed at time-and-materials and cost more than the main work that was bid by the estimator. I learned my lesson, never let a plumber work without getting it estimated before hand.

Thank you for your feedback, it is very important to us. You may be interested to know that in the years since the service provided to you, we have implemented "time and materials contracts". Time and materials contracts are intended to protect both the homeowner and Bruni & Campisi in the event extra work is required. This way everything is upfront and everyone is on the same page. We also take pride in the quality of service we provide. To express this, we guarantee our work for 1 year. Again, thank you for your feedback. We look forward to continually improving based on customer's experiences and we hope to serve your plumbing, heating and air conditioning needs again in the future.

After their "professional" diagnosis (charged me $391), they gave me an estimate: 4~8 hours of labor time plus $300 material. I ended up paying them 12 hours of the labor time and $660 for the material. I constantly felt that the plumber was using every opportunity to overcharge me. When I tried to argue with him, he threatened that he'd charge me more because of the time spent on the dispute. Overall, the plumber (and his boss) seemed extremely arrogant and unreasonable. Also be aware that they'd round up even one minute of time to half an hour. Update: I do not accept the company's response/explanation. Giving inaccurate estimate was only part of the problem. The bigger issue was that they only seemed to care about making more money, and in my eyes, they sometimes did it (or tried to) in rather blatant ways which made me question their ethics.

While we are sorry we did not meet this customer's expectations, there is a need to clarify a few points. This customer's gas service was shut down by Con Ed after they observed multiple leaks in their gas piping. Please note the gas leaks were not caused by Bruni & Campisi. We came out to this customer's house to rectify the problem upon the homeowner's request. Con Ed will not return gas service to a customer's home until it has been repaired by a local plumbing company and it passes inspection by a municipal inspector. In addition to the leaks requiring repair, Con Ed asked for upgrades on a number of items before they would return service to the customer's home. Leaking gas lines are dangerous. We make it a point to be thorough in testing for gas leaks not only for the safety of the homeowner, but also their neighbors and our own employees working on the gas lines. Upon completing our evaluation of the situation, the extent of the leaks in their home was greater than initially anticipated. Unfortunately, there is no other way around the issue than to fix all leaks. The process to test and repair gas lines is lengthy and this is of course going to cost more as the amount of materials used and time spent to rectify the leaks increases. We believe the amount we billed this customer is fair for the scope of work encountered.

Thank you for your review. I apologize your experience with us did not meet your standards. I reviewed the information we had in our system about this issue and fail to see where a figure of $300 would have come up. We make sure to be clear and upfront about our pricing so as not to run into situations such as this. As you experienced, we make people aware of our pricing both at the time of the initial call as well as when we confirm your appointment. We have a $49.95 service charge to go out to your home, and charge an additional $60 per half hour thereafter. This service charge makes sure our certified technicians or plumbers are paid a fair wage, our trucks are fully stocked to eliminate a wait on parts, and that other overhead protecting our customers are up to date such as licenses and insurance. In your particular case, a plumber or technician would have come to your home to assess what needs to be done, charging the service fee plus any time it took to diagnose your problem at our regular labor rate. At that point, they would have provided an estimate on the cost to rectify your problem and in all likelihood could have resolved the issue the same day. I hope this clears up any confusion regarding our pricing and that you may give us another chance in the future.

i could not recommend them highly enough. my sink was unusable for a year or two at least, before i called another plumber who finally came and unstopped it, and put a hole in the pipe (unbeknownst to me). when i found the leak, the other plumber did not return my calls. so i went for 10 more months without calling a plumber, because i just didn't want to deal with someone who would not come when they said, and when here, would do a bad job. that's when i joined angie's list, found bruni and campisi, and called immediately. the whole thing was completed in less than two weeks from my initial phone call. it was amazing. they were terrific!
Description of Work: i had stopped up sinks upstairs, and bruni and campisi recommended DRAIN KLEEN to come do drains first, and then they would come and do the repairs to a leak i had in the main floor sink. . DRAIN KLEEN came the next day, unstopped two sinks and Bruni/Campisi came three days later. it was more than a one man job, so they scheduled to come back with two men about a week later. those two men came on time, finished promptly, removing a sink and cabinet, finding a leak into the basement after cutting a small rectangle into tile from 1941, neatly and efficiently, replaced the broken pipe, and were able to cover up the hole they had made with paneling i had put over the tile in a do-it-yourself remodel. then they replaced the cabinet and sink and were done! PRESTO! they were clean, polite, and under budget, which was reflected in my final cost.
