They did some of the work quite well. They can do some basic work like taking off the wall, putting back the wall and painting. With painting, they didn't do a good job, they rushed through it. They didn't really sand it or anything, they just painted on the old wall. The thing that I had problem with was the plumbing. They did plumbing, but I don't think that they are knowledgeable about plumbing. I would like people to know that they are capable of doing basic work. They had a hard time replacing the plumbing fixtures like shower and faucet and all those. They had a hard time doing it. They had a hard time putting up the kitchen cabinets, they didn't do a good job. They just didn't do a good job of putting up the kitchen cabinets. He doesn't know how to do the plumbing for a dishwasher, I still don't have a dishwasher. When we hired him, we told him what work needs to be done. He said he can do everything and he is capable of doing everything, but he didn't. Actually when it started, it seemed like he didn't know a lot of the things that he said he can do. So my view about them is, they can do basic jobs quite well, but then, when it comes to jobs that need a little bit of calculation, a little bit of judgement, that's where they lack the ability. The constructor doesn't want to take any responsibility in the sense that he wanted me to measure the shower doors and all those. He did not give me the measurement, I kept asking and asking and then he didn't give me the measurement. It was getting late, so I just thought, "Okay, let me just get the measurement and let me do it." I think it's all because of his lack of experience. He is just too scared to give a measurement and then end up with it not being the correct measurement or something like that. We paid him $50,000 and on top of that, we paid more. We had to pay separately for the electrician, the plumber and the floor guy. He gave us the pricing and then when we actually started the work, the pricing went up, in the sense, in contract, I didn't have the idea that we had to pay separately for carpet and plumbing and for electrician and all those. I didn't have an idea that I would have to pay for those, my idea was everything was included. So initially, even though he quoted $50,000, we ended up paying a lot more. We probably spent maybe $7,000 extra, from his estimate. On two different occasions, he finished the work. One was my mistake. I wanted to move a wall. After they put the framework for the wall, I realized that that's where I didn't want it, I wanted it in a different place. So he changed it. He didn't really charge me for that. It was just that he put the frame of the wall, it was not like he was putting everything new. So, he did that. But then, there was another room in the basement where he had to put insulation. We had to finish it. That one, he didn't think anything, he just used the same wooden piece. He used the same stud, he should have used thinner stud because the room was very narrow. So when I, initially spoke with him, I did tell him to use thinner stud, but he didn't remember that and he used the same stud that he used for the other walls he built. Again, you use your judgement, I don't have to tell every single thing. He could have asked me, but he didn't ask me. Anyway, once he did it, I asked him to change it to a thinner stud. He did it eventually but it took me two days of telling him. He tried not to do it and then I told him many times and then he did it. So even though he didn't want to do it, he didn't use his judgement, but I told him and eventually he did it. So I would give him a little credit for that. He didn't charge me extra, but then, we ended up paying a lot more than I was originally thinking that it would cost us. He only gave the construction material. But everything, I bought them. I went and I picked them up and I spent my own money. It was only done in March and we've been living since March. So I don't know exactly how the construction overall quality is. After a lot of hassle, they changed what I asked, but I wouldn't say that they did everything that I wanted them to do. The first part of the work, they did very well, they did very good and then they lingered it to the whole month of February in to March. They could have finished it in February. I do need to get some more work done, but I don't think I want to use him anymore. I had a very bad argument with him.
