Description of Work: selected Silestone countertops because of color at Home Depot Home Depot did not have all the samples, said they would get them. We never saw them. Home Depot contracted Marble Techniques to install Home Depot problems--some staff much more knowledgeable than others Home Depot problems--did not explain clearly (to us, okay maybe we are dummies about this, but we are not contractors or carpenters or plumbers) what needed to be done to prepare for installation--removing old counters, getting all surfaces level--removing sink, cutting off water--removing drawers and cabinet contents--Did not clearly explain time frame Home Depot does counters all the time--most home-owners do it a few times--this was our first time. We were completely inexperienced--and they treated us like, of course you understand this and breezed through it. Marble Technique problems--These guys were excellent about the big stuff--carrying over 30' of heavy, heavy counters--putting things down gently, not breaking anything, protecting floors with mats and drop cloths--measured it quite well--It all fit--shimmed everything up so it was even. The counters look beautiful. BEAUTIFUL Small stuff--not so good--they ran out of white spackle/grout that gooey stuff that goes in the line between the counter and the wall. They wanted to use grey--would have looked horrible. We said no. Then they said, they weren't supposed to do that any way. We should have said, "Stop" or they should have gone out and bought another tube. Also, I am pretty sure they used our paper towels to clean the counter at the end (they didn't have their own supplies to do their clean up??) It seemed sad to us that with all the hard things done so well, the easy things got messed up. Since Home Depot subs the work out, I would recommend learning about the sub--because that is who is doing your fabrication and installing. We really like our counters, but it was not a pleasant experience.

replacement windows, cabinet refacing
+ 0 moreOverall, the experience was very good. Home Depot uses US Remodelers to do the cabinet refacing. The represntative,Tom, came out to the house within days to give us a quote and explain the work that needed to be done. Once we decided to go with the project, US Remodelers came out the next week to take all measurements. They came as scheduled and took extensive measuremrnts, I was impressed. Next, they had to order the cabinets door fronts because they were custom made, Tom told us it would take about three-four weeks to be made and they were ready for installation in about 3 weeks. They then called to schedule an appointment for the installation, they were very flexible with the dates (we had to reschedule a couple of times and that was no problem) which was great. US Remodelers had the job completed in three days as they had said in the beginning. We are very happy with the results, it looks like a brand new kitchen and all my friends love it.
Description of Work: Kitchen cabinets refaced- took off all cabinet door fronts, molding and kickboard. They installed a veneer on the outside of all the cabinets that matched the new cabinet doors, they then installed all cabinet doors with new hinges and hardware.

replacement windows
+ -1 moreThey carry Simonton 6500 series, which is nice vinyl replacement window though a little bulky. Salesman was generally OK though we later found some of the pitch just didn't make sense. The quoted price is very high. After research, we found that you could get better window at much lower price (30-40% lower), such as OKNA, Sunrise, Soft-lite etc. and I feel more comfortable dealing with those companies done a lot of window replacement projects.

+ 0 moreHome Depot was very responsive and helpful in our counter purchase. They showed us a wide variety of selections. We feel like we got a pretty good deal from them. They came on time and were careful of our household goods. I have no complaints. I don't remember what they cost, but I know it was reasonable.
Description of Work: They sold us a new Corian countertop. They also measured, cut, and installed it. I'm not sure of the dimensions.

Description of Work: Two storm doors were to be installed. They installed one of the doors on the wrong door, thus removing and destroying an antique lattice decorative storm door. Although they did not make me pay for the installation, they were not able to replicate the destroyed door. They then offered to replace that door with another storm door that matched the original two I had purchased. The workman felt terrible, but so did I!

+ -1 moreIT WAS WONDERFUL. THEY WERE VERY EXTREMELY HELPFUL AND RESPONSIVE. I CHANGED THE CARPET AT THE LAST MINUTE. NORMALLY THAT WOULD BE A PROBLEM, BUT THEY TOOK CARE OF IT AND DID NOT CHARGE US FOR IT. EVERYONE I TALKED TO HAD A GREAT ATTITUDE. THEY CALLED WHOEVER THEY HAD TO CALL AND TOOK CARE OF IT. THEY WERE RIGHT ON IT.

+ -1 moreMY SON WAS GETTING MARRIED SO WE WANTED IT DONE BY A CERTAIN DAY. WE WENT IN JUNE AND THEY SAID THEY WERE GOING TO HAVE IT BY JULY 18TH, HIS WEDDING DAY, BUT THEY DIDN'T COME UNTIL AUGUST. IT WAS IMPORTANT FOR ME TO HAVE IT THAT DAY SO I WAS A LITTLE UPSET BY THEIR LACK OF MOTIVATION. THEY DIDN'T KEEP THEIR PROMISE ON THE TIME.
