Whitetail was asked to provide an estimate for roofing work. He was critical of past work in another area that was not providing any problem, and offered to fraudulently state the problem was storm damage related (which it was not) so the insurance would pay for the repair. I did not have Whitetail do the work

We'd like Rich to correct the above issues without being so rude, nasty, abusive and belligerent about it, at no charge. Initially he had said he could fix the porch/house corners and it wouldn't cost very much but we don't feel we should have to pay for something that wasn't broken before Rich put the roof on. Rich replied to this complaint saying that everything that occurred was not their fault and it was a problem before the new roof was put on. They said that whoever put the gutters on before should be responsible for fixing the issue. They said that what we are asking for was not covered in the contract at all and therefore they are not responsible. They refuse to fix the issues at hand. A complaint was sent to the Better Business Bureau who served pretty much as a mediator. Rich has since refused to reply to their inquiries and nothing has been resolved. Please note that we are now filing in court. We spoke with one of our judges and he instructed us on where & how to proceed. We contacted the Town Clerk and we need to get 2 estimates on the cost of repairing the water leaking, file a claims report and then go from there. UPDATE 12/17/2011 On Tuesday Dec.13, 2011 we had a roofing contractor look for the reason why the rain was going behind the gutters. He climbed up his ladder and immediately told us the drip edge was attached way too tight to the fascia and to repair it so the water went into the gutters and not behind them would take an installation of flashing. This will cost us $425.00 as a rough estimate. This is an expense we should not have to pay if Rich Peterson of Whitetail Construction had installed the drip edge correctly OR if he would come and fix his mistake at no extra charge. He is not going to do this so we'll have to pay the additional cost over and above the $3,800.00 we paid for the new roof etc. Since it is December we need to get this repair done before the bad weather sets in which may ruin what's up there and also damage the inside of the house.
Description of Work: We had to have our roof replaced due to high wind damage in Feb. 2011. We chose Whitetail Construction, Rich Peterson. He was due in April 2011, never came to do roof until June 10, 2011. Had to call to ask for receipt; didn't receive one until July 2011. Have called Rich numerous times because roof and porch flashing now overhang the gutters and spray water straight out; also when it rains, all the water from the roof goes 'behind' the gutters, not into them. He refuses to do anything to remedy these issues and claims he got us a "free roof" which he did not. Insurance paid $2,000.00 and we paid $1,800.00. He claims he left the porch flashing just as it was because I had asked him not to undo what Dura-Bilt had done for the leaking in the porch. He, in fact turned the flashing corners straight out and laid the roof almost completely over it and now there is no way to turn the flashing corners back up to make the curve so rain water goes into the gutters, nor has he done anything with the rain water going behind all the gutters straight down the side of the house. The last time I spoke with him he went ballistic and was extremely rude and verbally abusive. He said I did nothing but complain, said he got us a free roof, what more did I want and hung up on me. Our handy-man said the corners could be fixed and something like rubber-roof tape could be applied to drip line and the edge of the gutters but since Rich had told us that: "NO ONE WAS TO CLIMB UP ON 'HIS ROOF' OR HE'D VOID THE WARRANTY" the handy-man is hesitant to fix them. The evening after the roof was installed the bathroom vent leaked. Rich was called the next morning and he became very belligerent, loudly stating "my roofs DO NOT leak!". He did come to repair that issue and had to do so twice but we can't get him here to correct the other issues connected with the installation of the new roof. We can tell you that the gutters nor the porch/house corners were any problems prior to the new roof.
