Allen's Plumbing Heating and A/C

I paid $1975 to have my water heater replaced. Allen's personnel did a terrible ("mickey mouse") job. I won't go into additional details here but Allen's also caused a gas leak for which I had to call NYSEG to fix. My recommendation based upon experience is "be wary of this company".

Furnace stopped heating blower would run but not fire showed me sensor that had tripped along with how to reset it. Mentioned few ideas that would keep it from doing it again

I am renovating a room that has an electric AC unit - it needed to be moved so my contractor could finish installing the drywall. I had called the company that installed the original unit - the guy came out and said that he wasn't sure if it could be done. I emphasized that I needed to have it moved ASAP. I called the next day and was told that he was working with his technicians. The following day, my contractor called Allen's - they showed up later in the afternoon and removed the unit. It took about 20 minutes. The Allen's guys told me that there was a coolant leak due to incorrect installation (there was very little coolant left). In the spring, they'll be back to reinstall it -which involves moving the unit down about 2 inches. Nothing complicated. I will be using Allen's from this point on. BTW, it took five days to hear back from the original installer...who told me that it would be really expensive to move. In the meantime, the unit is down, the drywall is up, and I was charged the for a regular service call.

I phoned them back and got the answering service. I left a message that they needed to phone me to reschedule. They never phoned back, so after 2 days, I phoned another plumbing and heating business. In a month, they never phoned back. And I had been a customer once before. I have heard the tech is good enough, but the office is another story, I guess. And just to be clear, while most of the reason for my initial call was routine cleaning, we also had a problem and part that needed replacement. I had told the office person that information, so our service could not be put off forever as I had already been sprayed with hot steaming water once before I phoned for the initial appointment.

This was the yearly inspection/cleaning of my boiler that Allen's has been doing for a number of years.

I called Allen's after a negative experience with another plumbing company. I found that there was a person in the office to answer the phone and in off hours there was an answering service. I called to make an appointment, realized later that I had an important meeting and had to cancel. The office was very flexible and I was able to get an appointment later in the day. The plumbers arrived, did their work in a timely manner, and explained and showed what they had done. The $85 service call seemed a little higher than usual, but the professionalism demonstrated in my whole experience warranted the slightly higher fee. I will definitely call Allen's in the future for my plumbing needs.

Called Allen's out to service my boiler and tankless water heater as I have used them in the past and refer them to many clients. Mike came to the home while we were out. When I called later to check on the service, he told me that the screw on the burner cover was rusted and he broke it off, so he could not check the burners or interior. I asked about the hot water heater, and he stated that he opened the case and did not know anything about the unit, so he didn't touch it. I asked about being charged for service that essentially was not performed, and they still sent a full visit/service bill. Should not have been charged for them to come out and basically turn on the boiler to see that it fired.

They arrived early in the morning, installed the furnace and performed necessary corrections to our duct work. It took approximately five hours. The workers were extremely professional.
