 + 1 moreWilliam and William were fast and efficient and clean, and personable, too, and I wished they had been here 15 years ago when we had to replace the old roof (4 layers of tiles). They even offered to help my husband change the outdoor lightbulbs because I don't like him to go up so high any more, and they had the tall ladders. Thankfully, it rained a couple of days later and everything was water tight -- the proof we needed that the job was a good one. Charles Stewart, the owner, came by during the day to check on the work and introduce himself. I was impressed with their professionalism. I would highly recommend this company -- they are a pleasure to work with!
Description of Work: William Stewart and William White (nephew and son-in-law respectively) arrived right on time, assessed the job we thought was just cleaning out the gutters and downspouts, and gently broke the bad news. We had some major deterioration on three tarred flat roofs and the Yankee gutters needed to be relined (in rubber) to prevent the moisture coming into the house -- which is what we had originally called about, along with cleaning the old aluminum gutters and downspouts. They reassured us the ptiched roofs were in good shape. Our 3-story house is over 100 years old. The job was going to cost about 10 times MORE than we had budgeted, but we were sure it needed to be done. The guys were knowledgeable and there was no dramatizing or exaggerating the amount of work -- they were not pushy. The decision to go ahead with the job was completely ours. And they were able to start that very morning! The whole job was completed that day.

 + 0 moreI had purchased a deal for inspection and maintenance, and knew I had at least one small leak in a skylight. They came and gave me an assessment of the age of the roof and some other issues that we might want to consider, we opted to go ahead an do a full re-coat on the roof which came with a 4 year warranty. The week after the work was done it started to rain like crazy, but I didn't see or hear any evidence of the previous leak, plus I now have piece of mind for 4 years because there's always going to be something else in the house that needs attention... Overall they were prompt, courteous, very informative, and efficient. I think the overall price was fair, especially considering the 4 year warranty. There's always going to be someone cheaper, but I am very happy with this job and I think it was perfectly reasonable.
Description of Work: Re-sealed all roof seams and around skylights etc. Applied a new aluminum coating to whole roof.

 + -1 moreThey did a good job. I liked that they came and they were prepared to do the job. They did the job but the only thing was I wasn't sure I was getting a fair price. It's not their fault. It's just because I didn't competitively price it. They offered me the price and I took the price. I had positive interactions with them and I would definitely use them again. The work they did seems to be fine. They were punctual and very professional.

Upon arriving they assessed the situation, quoted me a price which I agreed to and they began to professionally go about the task at hand. When they were through they thoroughly cleaned up around my property.I would highly recommend Charles Stewart Roofing for all your roofing needs.
Description of Work: Replaced improper roofig shingle caps with the proper materials. Removed an unneeded copper vent stack and patched hole in roof and reshingled, reflashed around vent pipes and chimney and inspected roof. They also removed the debris from the premises

 + -1 moreFirst of all, it was scheduled for 10 AM, then rescheduled for 11:00. On the day of service, they changed it again to 1:00 PM. The guy went up to my roof and spent less than a min took a few pictures of my roof. He then came down and started delivering the worst sales pitch I?ve ever heard in my entire life. Something like because "my crew are here today, i am giving you a big discount, instead of $3000 to repair 6 missing slates and seal your roof, I am only charging you $1900." blah blah blah .... I asked for inspection not irritation.

 + -1 moreExcellent! When I called, Charles said he was performing a job in our area, and would come over as soon as that job was done. About 2 hours later, he called and said that he had finished the job earlier than expected, and could come over much sooner. Upon arrival, I was told that I could get a substantial savings if I agree to let them do the work immediately. Having read many of the reviews, almost all of which were excellent, we told him to go ahead. They finished in about 2 hours, and we are totally satisfied with the work that was done.
Description of Work: Charles and his son Bill refinished the roofs of our home and garage.

Description of Work: Charles Stewart Roofing came and analyzed the situation I presented to them They were very professional, honest and knowledgeable. They repaired my roof so water would have the proper pitch when it reached the copper gutter rather than going down the side of the building. They put silicon on the cracks on the back wall. They also put aluminum coating and flashing on the entire roof to prepare for my solar panels that will be installed later in the year.

Based on the many positive reviews and my gut feeling as to the reliability of the workers and the information they provided I decided to have them fully replace my roof. They completed the job that day and I am very satisfied with the work they did. I would definitely recommend this company to others. Nice guys and good workers.

(A little high-pressure but I had other estimates, was sure I was going to use them and took advantage of their availability.) Didn't plan on the corking (even tho I knew it needed done) because I didn't think they would provide they service. Killed two birds with one stone. Quality on a roofing job can only be told by the passing of time. If all goes well, will have them back in the spring for maintenance and will keep you posted then.

After work on the roof of the addition had begun, they told me they couldn't repair the entire roof after all because it was too difficult to access, & they'd take $300 off the estimated cost. They worked very fast on both roofs. Addressing my concern that the leak in the addition roof was from the seam where it meets the building, they suggested putting flashing on the deck & the building wall to seal it. When I objected to black tar on my new deck, the guy used silicon caulk on the seam. A month later both the addition roof & the main roof are still leaking just as before the work was done. The men tracked spots of black tar on my stairway carpet.
Description of Work: I sent the provider a photo of the roof on the addition to my house which needs repair/replacement (leaking), showing it is under a deck. Because it slants, half is accessible, the other half is difficult to access. I was looking for someone to repair it without having to remove the new deck above it. Charles Stewart contacted me & arrived promptly. His guy examined the roof of the addition as well as the main roof which also was leaking and said they could do the job for $4000. Though steep, I agreed since it was essential to stop water damage.

While the owner was waiting for some needed supplies to be purchased he requested his crew to inspect the rest of our roof and clean our gutters. It was a thoughtful act, and much appreciated. The team even left the bottle of pest repellant for us to use if further spraying is needed.
Description of Work: They added flashing to sections of our roof where there was a gap between the siding and the shingles, as well as covered up openings on two peaks. Additionally, spikes were added to prevent animals from trying to enter, and a pest repellant spray was applied along the area.

Description of Work: I ORDERED THE $99.00 ROOF TUNE-UP AND INSPECTION BECAUSE WATER WAS LEAKING INTO THE HOUSE . IT WAS CAUSING WATER MARKS ON THE CEILING AND WALLS, AS WELL AS SOME WATER LEAKING INSIDE. MR. STEWART POINTED OUT THE PROBLEMS AND MADE SOME MINOR REPAIRS. AFTER A DISCUSSION ABOUT THE OVERALL CONDITION OF THE ROOF, WE DECIDED TO HIRE HIM TO TAR THE ENTIRE ROOF AND COVER IT WITH A REFLECTIVE SURFACE. THIS WAS COMPLETED THE SAME DAY. HE AND HIS CREW ALSO VOLUNTARILY USED A STOP-GAP METHOD TO ADDRESS THE WATER LEAKING INSIDE, THRU OUR UPSTAIRS BEDROOM WINDOW. WE HAD NO IDEA WHY THIS WAS HAPPENING. MR. STEWART DIAGNOSED THAT PROBLEM FOR US, INDICATING THAT THE LINTEL HAS TO BE REPLACED.

 + -1 moreI found this business on Angie's List, and called on Friday night. I got a live person on the phone (!) and a crew was here Saturday morning. Although I think it was a bit pricey, I did need the repairs done asap since the animal had now been removed and I needed the holes sealed before any others arrived and before it rained (again). The crew did a very good job of making the repairs: new layers of plywood (the damage was through multiple layers of shingle, so layers of plywood were needed to level the area. Felt and shingles replaced. Several very old shingles were damaged and they did a good job of repairing them. Caulking and sealing was done to the repaired area, as well as other places on the roof; gutter was cleaned and a downspout replaced. I used their ladder to inspect the "before and after" and the work appeared done with care and according to their promises. All clean up was spot on.

 + -1 moreThe contractor and his crew arrived 15 minutes early. Looked at roofs and quoted a good price for both roofs. As he had stated on the phone since the job wasn't big by their standard, they could have it finished by today. My father and I agreed. They promptly went to work. The contractor called the remaining members of his crew and started work on both roofs simultaneously. The work was done efficiently and to satisfaction. Completed within 6 hrs. So happy to have it done by them.
Description of Work: Removed old shingles, gutter and rotten wood. Replaced with new material. Patched flat roof and coated with aluminum paint.

 + -1 moreWe called Charles Stewart Roofing after a massive rainstorm and leaking in our 5 floor brownstone back in May. They answered the phone the same day (which was a Sunday) and were there as soon as the rain stopped two days later. They replaced our drain and our entire roof. They were more responsive than we could have ever asked for, professional, punctual, very nice and very competitive with prices. When we had a small leak in between dates replacing the roof on the deck and the pitched roof above - they came immediately to evaluate and were very proactive and helpful. We would recommend them to anyone and everyone and would absolutely use them again. Great experience all around.
Description of Work: Charles Stewart roofing replaced our entire roof as well as a faulty drain on the top deck of our brownstone.
