Charles Stewart Roofing

Description of Work: Originally called to fix a leak on the extension in the back of the house which they completed on time. I then asked them to check the main roof and they gave a quote of $5000 for the whole thing and promised to be done the next day. I figured I may as well since they're out at my out rather than having to set up another appointment that could take another 2 weeks. They finished on time. I'm pretty sure I could get it done cheaper elsewhere but like I said, I'm all for being able to get it right away.

Description of Work: I signed up for your membership, which I had been told was FREE but had to pay for. I reviewed nearby roofing companies and purchased a coupon for Charles Stewart Roofing to come out to evaluate a leak in my roof. They came out, briefly checked my attic, from my own ladder, and gave me an estimate without even going up and looking at the damage on the roof. Additionally, even though he said the roof looked good and done with good quality materials (from the ground floor) he gave me an estimate to do the entire roof. When I asked why I should do the whole roof, he gave me an estimate for $1500 to fix the problem area. I thought that was high and said i'd get back to them. Afterwards, I realized that I didn't really get the "evaluation" I paid $49 for, contractors don't usually charge to come out to give an "estimate." This was then confirmed by the insurance adjuster and roof inspector -- they were surprised and concerned that the guys from Charles Stewart didn't go up on the roof, take photos or do a real evaluation. Seeing the evaluation this roof inspector did I could see all I got from the roofing company was an estimate. I doubt very much I will use that company since I feel I was cheated and perhaps taken advantage of. You should be aware of the situation as this affects the credibility of your site and I request a refund of the $49. Either they misrepresented what their service would be or the coupon misrepresented what they provide. Thank you in advance for a speedy resolution. Michelle Aragon

Description of Work: I don't know what they did. I paid 99 for roof inspection and ? |They came without scheduling an appointment. It was too windy and cold for me to come on the roof and see what they were telling me. They wanted 1200 to do some flashing with tar and who knows what. They came in a truck that was unmarked, did not have a business card. Failed to write down what they wanted to fix fir that 1200. While they were polite, I failed to have confidence that they were fixing something that needed to be done. I got the feeling that 1200 was their magic number and most people they went to would be willing to spend that amount to fix their roof. |Their failure to write up a proposal, no business card and an unmarked truck that says nothing about roofing turned me off. I plan on having a local roofer come to the house and now I'm the warmer weather I will be able to go up with them and see what needs to be done. Angie's list was a failure for me.

Description of Work: Fixed a severely broken gutter and resurfaced the roof with a protective coating and checked existing roof condition. Mr. Stewart's reliability and efficiency greatly impressed me.

Description of Work: I'll start by saying that they haven't done work for me, so I'm not sure about the quality of their work. They have me a quote, which seams reasonable, not low but not too high either. I purchased their special Angies list offer for "roof tune up" which included assessment (which is free anyway) and "minor" repairs. Well, I had one loose single and they didn't want to replace it, but only offered a quote for a bigger job, which is only preventive in nature. I don't know what could be more "minor" than fixing a loose single.
