Mr Stewart contacted ASAP to schedule an appointment to clean my gutter. I requested that we wait until the end of Sept. to do the job. Mr Stewart complied and kept in touch with me about scheduling. I also asked about installing a gutter guard and he said that he would bring over several models when he did the job. Two weeks ago I had national grid come over to inspect my furnace. Their rep said that there was carbon monoxide fumes coming from the chimney. Last March i had Fred's Chimney Magic come to inspect my chimney after Elite Tech installed a range hood. They found that Elite Tech had installed an illegal exhaust for the hood into my only working chimney and gave me an estimate for lining my chimney which included a gutter guard. I was not going to have this work done as I did not think it necessary until national grid made their finding. Rather than pay twice for the same job ( Gutter guard) I explained to Mr. Stewart that I would not be needing his services. With his usual kindness and understanding, Mr Stewart told me to contact Angie's and explain the situation and that I should not pay for the same service twice.

I knew when I bought this package for the skylight maintenance, they would most likely recommend some maintenance for my roof. It hadn't been looked at for 6 years, so.... All went well. Professional, fast, and reliable. Will use them again.

The owner is punctual and communicates well. I've called a few places on Angie's List, and many of them would take my info and never called me back. The job itself -- after they performed the maintenance work, owner asked me if I wanted to do another coating -- I turned it down because I have other plans for the roof and didn't want to spend extra money right now. Overall, owner is very friendly (pretty hard to find in NYC), and definitely is on top of my list when I need roof work done.

After getting several quotes we chose Charles Stewart Roofing for several reasons - they were always responsive, provided a brief written contract, use top of the line GAF Timberline shingles (we requested the upgrade to the Ultra 50 year shingles) and Firestone rubber, displayed a knowledge of roofing without being pushy, and were ready to start the same day (we had several leaks from our current roof). Their quote covered all that would be encountered for a hundred year old house with the only extra cost at our request to redo the chimney and upgrade to Ultra shingles. The project took about a week and was performed by their regular, experienced sub-contracting team. They also took out the top of an old chimney at no extra cost. They are in the process of cleaning up the property and it hasn't yet rained, so I can't speak to whether we will experience any leaks or have stuff we need to clean up. Like any roofing project, the amount of falling debris would have ruined flower beds but we have not yet landscaped so that wasn't really an issue I can speak to. They are certainly not the cheapest, but I value quality and responsiveness over price. The overall finished product looks great and we are looking forward to a dry house for a long, long time.

The roofers not only were punctual - they were early! (They called to make sure it was okay, rather than assuming it was fine to knock on the door). They were very considerate and professional. In fact, when we suggested replacing the skylight they initially wanted to save us from having to do that. When the work was being done and they got a better look at the skylight, they spoke with us to say it would probably only last a couple of more years, and gave us a break on the installation price of a new one. At the end of the job, we complained that the handle to open and close the new skylight (a feature our old feature didn't even have!) was too short and we couldn't hold it high enough for it to reach the hook in the skylight to operate it. At first, we were told to order a new one and the company would reimburse us. However, after going to the truck to get the model number of the skylight, they decided instead to give one of the workers some cash to go out immediately and get us a longer handle, as they thought it was ridiculous that the skylight came with such a short one. And they did not want us to have to wait to order the correct one. At no charge to us, within a half hour we had the longer handle with which to operate our now functional skylight! The worker even got to keep the difference between what he was given to go shopping with and the cost of the handle, which we thought showed integrity and appreciation on the part of the roofers. They sincerely want to do good work - and do. And we also got a 12 year warranty in writing.

charles stewart and his crew completed project in one day as stated to me. besides making all the necessary repairs, everything was cleaning up and placed in black garbage bags. since i wasn't onsite during the day, i received 2 calls from mr. stewart to discuss on how to proceed. i noticed things was executed so there was no surprise for me. i didn't offer a perfect score since i didn't have an opportunity to obtain other estimates. prior to awarding this project to charles stewart roofing, all my questions were answered. i felt comfortable that mr. stewart will do the best job for me. i am happy with the outcome of this project.

Very nice and professional, gave us a realistic account of the state of the roof, along with solid advice on how to proceed. It seemed expensive to me, but I understand there are probably high costs for insurance and the like when people are up on a high roof like that. Overall, I would hire them back again for their professionalism and excellent work product. Thanks!

Originally hired on $99 deal for flat roof inspection and minor repairs. We expected that more significant repairs would be required so were not surprised when Charles and his crew arrived and recommended we re-coat the roof, which suffered cracking asphalt in many places that could have allowed the relatively minor but increasing leaks / damp spots on ceiling we were seeing. There was no pressure to take the up-sell and we agreed to it. The crew then added the aluminum coating using a machine that sprayed the substance and performed the work efficiently and with no mess. The crew was great. The true test came later, though, when we realized that Charles Stewart had not sprayed the coating on roof of an approximately 9 x 9 extension that was one floor lower than main roof (something we neglected to notice or mention before they left). Charles readily agreed to come back and spray the extension roof at no additional cost, which is a testament to his professionalism.

After being blown off by other roofers, I was pleasantly surprised by Mr. Stewart. He answered the phone himself, was courteous and professional and once he understood our needs, he went to the location to take a look. Within the hour he called me back with an estimate. After some negotiation (Originally my family wanted only half the roof done. I discussed an alternate price offered by a roofer my brother had spoken to a few weeks ago, etc.), we came to an agreement on a very fair price with Mr. Stewart's promise that he could start the job immediately. When Mr. Stewart and his crew were done, I was unable to get to the location to pay him before later in the evening. Mr. Stewart trusted me to meet him the next morning with a check, which I did. This level of courtesy from a company is unusual and needless to say, relieved a lot of stress for me at that time. I would use Mr. Stewart and his crews services again. I highly recommend them!

Charles and crew were very kind and did a good job, were very helpful.

The guys were early to the appointment which was a pleasant surprise. They setup the ladder and quickly got to work on inspecting the roof. I was given several options depending on my budget and the prices were reasonable. I would call on them again to follow through on their recommendations.

Charles Stewart and his team are reliable and fixed all the issues causing the leaky roof. Did not try to push anything that was not needed. Kept me informed of progress before, during and after by showing me pictures of work done. Came and completed the job the same day. The reviews of Charles being professional, kind and knowledgeable are all true. A storm came last night that knocked out my power but there weren't any leaks thanks to Charles Stewart and his team. His work gave me peace of mind that it was done correctly and then it is backed by a 3 year warranty. First time using Angie's list and was really nervous that the leaks would not be caught but Charles and his team put me at ease. Highly recommend this company if you want reliable quality work done by a team of great guys. Really appreciated Charles taking the extra efforts to look at all areas where the leak could come from.

Their is a problem with this contractor that he did not give 10 percentage senior discount as shown on your site.i think angie list should get this resolved.

Charles, Bill and Joe, all Stewart family members, and the others of the roofing team did an excellent job. Arrived on time, went to work promptly and efficiently. These guys couldn't have been nicer and more professional, patiently explaining what had to be done, why and how. After the work was done, an excellent clean-up left no sign of the major job performed by these hard-working guys. Would definitely use the whole team at Charles Stewart Roofing again.

Charles and his group happened to be in my neighborhood working on another roof. He called me to check if it was a good time to do the BIG DEAL inspection I had purchased through Angie's List. We previously had to reschedule due to my work schedule conflicts. He along with 3 of his employees performed the roof inspection as promised, took pictures, and fixed/patched items included with the DEAL. He advised me of a couple of new issues that I wasn't aware of, and offered me a great deal to fix them. They were quick, clean, and efficient. He even straightened out a gutter that was bent after this years snow storms. All in all, Charles and his workers were courteous, professional, and I will definitely use them again. I will recommend them to friends of mine as well.

Very Well. They were so courteous and pleasant. They did what they came to do, and recommended that we consider replacing the roof, which is over twenty-five years old. They gave us a price, and explained exactly what that price covered. They offer a 12 year guarantee on their work, and they have been in business over twenty years. I could have had them replace the roof the day they came with an additional discount. We will certainly consider them after getting several bids, which I always get when making an investment in any expensive home repair. The only reason I gave N/A to the "price" is that I have yet to get other bids to compare. I will post any additional information on price once I explore other options.

Job was done as advertised. Mr. Stewart arrived on time when promised with two of his men and got to work immediately. Job was completed quickly and thoroughly. He was a real gentlemen and made me feel as if I was important to him and his business. My neighbor was having work done on his home by an other contractor and Mr. Stewart made sure that he did not interfere with that work. I am completely satisfied with this contractor and will not hesitate to use him again when needed.

He came (with an assistant) when he said he would come, and quickly assessed the problems, which he explained to me in a detailed way. He gave me a decent price and got to work right away. The work was done quickly and he left me with a 3 year guarantee, which was more than I expected. Overall, I found Charles to be very personable and responsive.

Charles was (amazingly) able to give me an estimate within an hour of calling him since he was in the neighborhood. He broke the estimate down and gave me my options. From what I could tell he did not "make" any additional work for himself- I knew the roof was old but I didn't know how old or what needed to be done. When I asked him to come do the work we had outlined he was available as soon as I wanted him there and got all the work done in an hour. He even trimmed some branches that were overhanging the roof and bagged them neatly. Charles said that the roof was fine for 3 years, and after 3 years I could call them a deal on the next patch job. I wish everyone on Angie's list was so friendly and professional.

Angieslist had a special with SP that ended yesterday but they came today and still aloowed me to get the special price. They gave me estimates and let me and know the work that needed to be done. They were on time, they had already started the estimate before I came home. They were very polite and professional.

Punctual, efficient, although two workers left caulking gun and empty caulk tubes behind for owner to clean up. A trucker came to remove old debris. But a neighbor’s next door house seems to have been splashed with tar residue which I did not see until a few days later. Whether it came from their work or not I don’t know.

They could not do anything for me regarding my roof that I would need to have two of my roofs repaired for over $8,000. Though they completed the job they did not more.
