Description of Work: We had our garage floor done in 2011. We thought that the water was suppose to run out of the garage when the snow melted off the car; well it doesn't. Every winter, there are puddles of water right in front of the door. We emailed Kevin in the Spring of 2012; he said that he would come out to look but never did. In December, 2012, the puddles began again, so once again, we asked Kevin to come out. Once again, no response. In 2014, we once AGAIN contacted him about looking at the floor, and even sent pictures. He still would not come out but did humor us with an explanation that between the height of the rear "man door" and the height of the overhead garage door, there is only a half an inch difference. If the garage door is closed and the water runs to the door and freezes, we wouldn't be able to open the door. He then stated that the original problem was that the garage floor was settled several inches in the back corners, which was lifted up as high as possible taking into consideration the rear "man door". If we consider those benchmarks we would realize that he did "the best that could be done all things considered"; however, if the back corners were settled, wouldn't the water run towards the BACK corners of the garage and not by the door?? By January, 2015, there was STILL no resolution, so we contacted him AGAIN. Kevin finally asked about or schedule/availability, and that was the last we heard. With two 80-year-olds in the home, this is a potentially hazardous situation; for the past 5 years, whenever it rains or snows, we have to shovel/squeegee/shop-vac up the mess and all of the puddles. | | There was also some kind of white plaster was applied to the walls in huge clumps which peels/falls off; when it was applied, it was also spattered all over the grass. |

The person who is writing this complaint is writing it on behalf of the people who contracted my work and was not there for the negotiations. To explain and clarify the situation, the garage door at the front of the garage where vehicles come and go, and the door at the rear of the garage where humans come and go are almost level with one another. Because they are nearly level, the garage floor I was hired to put in would also have to be level UNLESS a drain were to be put into the middle of the garage, and the floor could be made to slope toward that drain. The clients did not want to pay the extra cost of a center drain. I advised the clients that because the floor is level, there would be no way for water that drips off cars to go anywhere other than collect on the floor. The garage floor could not be made to slope toward the vehicle garage door because it would collect at the opening and freeze there. With regard to the "white plaster" which is falling off the walls: The clients asked me to "beautify" very old, water damaged and compromised concrete block. I said that there was probably nothing that could be done, but I attempted to apply a product, free of charge and as a courtesy, to remedy the situation. I am not surprised that it did not adhere.

The concrete and the sidewalk look fine. I didn't realize when he gave me the estimate that it was just to pour the concrete. He didn't finish the work around where he poured. I now have to hire someone to do the work around where he poured the concrete. I asked him if he was going to put dirt around the concrete and he told me he didn't do that. He told me that he doesn't do any landscaping and he told me to look on my estimate and I would see that landscaping wasn't included. It was in very tiny letters at the bottom of the estimate, so I felt like I got took. Now I have to get someone else to do the landscaping part of it because I'm handicapped and can't do it myself. I think he should have finished the job right. I had red bricks around the sidewalk and he told me he would put those back in. He just set them in there and didn't even finish that right. He gave me the estimate and told me he could come in and get it all done in a day. He came the 15th to tell me he would be here the 16th. He came the next day to remove the old concrete and only worked for four hours. He didn't even show up the next day at all. He finally came the next day to pour the concrete. The concrete itself looks alright, but it would have looked better if he would have done the dirt work around it. He came right away to give me the estimate. I would not use him again.
Description of Work: I used K West Concrete to pour a concrete sidewalk for me.

The client's basic issue is that I did not restore the landscaping around her yard after my concrete work was finished. As she noted, when I was asked about it, I told her that I do not do landscaping, and I told her where that is stated in our contract; she does not dispute that it is in writing.

Kevin cam and escavated the garage and set it up for concrete. A day or two later theyhad the garage poured and finished it . I paid him 3500 cash and had the contract to sign and he said when they do the apron we'd take car of the contract and if I didn't mind to pay him the balance of 2000 with a check so he could have that as a record for the irs(wink wink) I said sure(wasn't my business what he claims on his taxes right?) Anyway they came back a few days later(rain and more rain) and set up the apron. Then they had the concrete poured. It looked like it was hardening awfully quick and they were working like dogs to smooth it. I asked if that was okay and he(Kevin) said it would be fine. They finished and left... He still didn't sign the contract and I still had a 2000 check for him. A few days later he came and removed the dirt he escavated and took the rest of his tools. This was while I was at work so I called him several times about signing the contract and that I had a check for him.A week went by and no answer to my calls. I started to see cracks, pitting and pot holes in the apron. I called Kevin again and he called back the next morning very mad. He started to yell at me to mail him the check. I said what about the contract and he stated that we didn't need it. I said yes we do and then he said to mail the check and contract and he would only sign it then . I asked him to come over sign the contract and I would pay him and then he could look at the problems with the concrete. He got very upset and said he would not sign the contract or look at his work until I finished paying him.So he wanted me to send a check and hope he signs the contract and send it back...yeah right. I sent him a copy of the contract with my signature and a letter that he could sign it send it back and I would mail the final payment. It even says on the contract I paid 3500 cash and owe 2000. I still haven't heard from Kevin I have e-mailed him again but don't expect any answer. Do make sure the contract is signed befor and don't take "oh we'll do that later as an answer no matter how nice they seem.I have also filed with the BBB to try and rectify the issue.
