Zack Alfano responded to our request for an estimate quickly, and promptly arrived and conducted an extensive assessment of our renovation requests. We were very impressed with his professional recommendations and especially his honest opinion on renovations he thought not necessary. During the entire job, he was polite, accommodating and exceptionally skillful. He always called if he felt he would be arriving a bit late, which did not happen that often. We were very pleased with his work and plan on having him do other renovations in the near future.
Description of Work: He removed and replaced drywall and insulation from two walls, installed new toilets, sinks and vanities in two bathrooms, installed light fixtures, removed existing floors in front hall, office, and kitchen and installed hardwood in hall and office and porcelain tile in the kitchen. Installed new baseboard and trim where needed. Painted all rooms (ceilings, walls and trim) on the first level. Installed new white composite railings on front porch and wrapped posts in white aluminum. Installed new panel bi-fold door in master bedroom.

We had a number of unsightly cracks in the plaster throughout the house that needed expert repairing. Kitchen ceiling needed sanding and a fresh coat of paint. Also needed three doors in our breezeway replaced along with some other carpentry. Part of a wall in our garage needed some heavy duty repairing. Zachary was very pleasant, courteous. Always called ahead, made his schedule fit our schedule. Was concerned that we were satisfied as the job went along. Cleaned as he went along. If you ever had plaster dust, you know what a problem it can be. He never left any dust behind. We highly recommend Zach Alfano.

Sent an email request to Alfano Construction & Remodeling requesting an appointment for an estimate to remove the sprayed ceiling in my family room. Zach Alfano called me the next day and made an appointment to come over the same afternoon. Zach came on time and offered options of scraping off the textured ceiling and refinishing, or complete removal and replacement of drywall which was my preference. Zach emailed the estimate within two business days and after acceptance of estimate, he emailed the contract which was signed and mailed back to him along with %50 down payment for the work - removal of existing drywall, installation, finishing, and priming of new drywall, along with removal and re-installing some crown molding. Through my own fault, we decided to do this project around Thanksgiving time with the Christmas season approaching, and we expressed a desire to have the project completed in a three week time-frame. Zach was extremely accommodating with our time request and he began work by tearing down the existing ceiling the Friday after Thanksgiving, which was within the same week that we signed the contract. Zach began by closing off the room with plastic, as well as covering the floor and built-in bookcases with plastic. When he was done tearing down and removing the drywall ceiling, he cleaned and removed all the debris from the room extremely well. On the next Tuesday, Zach's drywall crew installed 12' sheets of drywall on the ceiling to minimize the joints. His taping crew started the next day, and came back Thursday, Friday, and Saturday to put on successive coats of joint compound and tape. The tapers did a finish sanding on Monday, and Zach primed the entire ceiling the same evening and the job was completed that Monday night. Zach and his crew did an outstanding job and they were all very professional and friendly. Zach was very accessible when I called asking questions prior to and during the project. His tapers/finishers were outstanding and do excellent work. I will definitely consider using Alfano Construction for any future projects.

I contacted Zak and he said he would stop by that afternoon to look at the windows and give me an estimate. He arrived about an hour later and was very pleasant and professional. Since it was such a small job, he said he could fit it in for me in a few days.Zak arrived on time and installed 2 of the 4 shutters that I wanted installed. Unfortunately, the store where I bought the shutters had to order the other two for me and they were not in yet. Zak was very understanding about it and installed the first two. He said to call him when the rest come in and he will come over again.I appreciate Zak's professionalism and timeliness and will definitely use him for other work.

I received the customer's email on 3/5/2012 through my website, which hides the sender's email address. He provided a description of the work, and noted to "call if you are interested". He provided his phone number, but not his email address. I made 2 separate attempts to call the customer. Both resulted in a busy signal, with no option to leave a voice message. I received the customer's phone call 3/12 at 1:59pm and called back 3/12 @ 2:01 pm, again resulting in a busy signal, with no option to leave a voice message. I apologize for the inconvenience. I have been receiving a large amount of phone calls and emails for work this season, and can only attempt to reply so many times.

I initially contacted Zach at the end of October 2011 to schedule a date for the estimate. He showed up on time and we went over the work to be performed. The demolition process started on time and proceeded smoothly for about week. The project continued for 3 weeks from the initial start date without delay. All went well until it came time to hang the new drywall. I was unaware at the time the contract was written and signed that installation and finishing of the new drywall was going to be subcontracted. This took an additional 3 weeks to complete. After the drywall was hung and finished, we were still waiting for the patio door to be delivered. When the door did arrive, about 6 weeks after the order had been placed, the wrong door was delivered. The project went on hold for another month until the correct patio door was finally delivered. Once the correct door came in, the remainder of the work was completed in about 2 weeks. The quality of his work it outstanding, but the time it took to complete said work was getting out of control. Start to finish, it took over 3 months.
Description of Work: I contacted Zach for an estimate to remove a wall between two adjacent bedrooms in the house, frame in a new closet and doorway, and raise the ceiling height. Also included in the scope of work was gutting the existing drywall, insulation, re-routing existing electrical, adding new outlets and lighting fixtures, insulating ceiling and exterior walls, installing sound dampening isulation on interior wall bordering two other bedrooms, hanging and finishing new drywall, and installation of new baseboard register covers. New baseboard and window trim was installed as well as hardwood flooring, an additional window, and a new patio door. Removal of all waste materials was provided.

I do apologize for the delays we ran into on this project. The delay with the drywall was around the holidays (Christmas & New Years). The customer, understandably, did not want any work to be done around Christmas. So we agreed to wait until after the holidays to start the drywall to cut down on dust. The drywall had to be ordered as it was 12' lengths of 5/8 for the 24" O.C. rafters on the ceiling. The drywall delays were due to some hectic scheduling around the holidays, and again I apologize for that. The delay with the door was due to a miscommunication somewhere between myself & the door supplier. The door was a 5' fiberglass full view french patio door. The door model number was confirmed looking at the manufacturer's website by myself and the customer, as well as with the supplier. According to the supplier, there were some conflicts with options the customer desired on the 5' door, so we agreed to get a 15 lite grid instead of the integrated blinds, which I was told were unavailable. The glass was special order for the 5' patio door, and it was damaged in shipping on the first door. When we received the door approximately 6 weeks later, it was a 9 lite door, instead of the full view 15 lite. When I called the supplier, they agreed to take the door back at no charge. Once all of the information was clarified, I was informed that the integrated blinds were available in a full lite door, however this was about $560.00 additional. I informed the customer of this. Although they did offer to pay the additional cost, I covered the additional cost, out of pocket, due to all of the delays incurred from the door, and the inaccurate information provided about the original door options. It was my responsibility to order the correct door, and I did everything in my power to do so. Once the door was ordered, it was out of my control. All I could do is relay the information, provided by the supplier, to the customer. I was unaware the incorrect door was ordered until it was delivered and was informed by the customer. As soon as the correct door was in and delivered, I completed the job in about 2 weeks. The first week was staining and clear coating the door, which is a multi-step process on the fiberglass door because of the gel stain and dry times. I do apologize for the inconvenience caused to you and your family by the delays on this project. It is not a normal occurrence on my jobs. Unfortunately, it does happen once in a while when dealing with special order material. I appreciate your patience throughout all of the delays. The project did turn out great.

Found Zach's name here on Angie's list and he had received great reviews. I agree with all of those reviews. Zach came out and gave us estimates on a number of projects. He arrived when he said he would and took his time to understand what we wanted to accomplish. He prepared a nice estimate and emailed it to us (which I preferred.) We chose to have him do only some of the work due to our available budget. Although the cost was a bit more than I had anticipated, it was a fair price in the end. Once the contract was signed, Zach gave us a time frame to expect him to start and an estimate of how long it would take. He delivered on both of those. Zach arrived prepared to work with all the materials. He worked long hours and took his time. I've used other contractors who seemed to be thinking of their next job and not paying much attention to detail. That was not the case with Zach. He cleaned up after each day's work and the finished product is beautiful. Zach even touched up some plaster issues we had on some adjoining walls. Although I had considered doing the job myself, I know I would not have been able to do as well. Zach was at the house during the project for three full days and returned two additional mornings and some of one afternoon to float and sand the walls. Will definitely contact Zach for future projects.
Description of Work: Install and finish drywall on three and half walls in preparation for priming. To have the finished wall surfaces end up where the old plaster and lath walls had been, we also had to have one-quarter inch wood strips installed on each stud. Also included preparing a small section of wall that had no studs as well as patching two holes where electrical boxes had been.

We decided to have vinyl siding put on the house and since he had already made smaller repairs on the house, I asked him for an estimate. His estimate was reasonable and he started work promptly. If there were any problems (wasp nest, rotted wood) he informed us and let us know the additional cost. His work is excellent, he is a professional in all respects. I would highly recommend him and intend on having him back in the Spring to do additional work. My house looks great!

Alfano Construction gave me a verbal estimate on the same day I called the company for a quote. (Coincidentally, he was working on a job about a block from my home.) I received a written estimate on the following day. The young man who completed the job was very polite. He worked steadily for three days. Zach Alfano arrived at the stated time and worked nonstop to install the tile. He promptly returned the next day to grout and clean tile. He left the kitchen area clean. The tile is beautiful with no indication of any seams. It looks like one sheet of glass and ceramic. Initially, I thought the price quoted was higher than anticipated. After the job was completed, it was well worth the price.
