I had Energy Savers give me an estimate for blown insulation and replacement windows for my home. While I ended up going with another company for the insulation, it was a narrow choice as both impressed me greatly! The Energy Savers representative was very friendly and informative. Energy Savers is a member of NY state's program to offer free energy audits to help homeowners save energy and money. I didn't ask for an energy audit, but the representative took a peek at a few key things anyway and took a few moments to talk with me about them. For the insulation, his conclusions and pricing were very similar to the other contractor I ended up going with. For the windows, he gave me easily the best pricing, for the highest quality product. I told him at the time that the windows were further down my list of work I wanted done, but when I'm ready to tackle them, I do intend to go with Energy Savers.

I received a grant from a state agency to assist with insulation of my house. One of the restrictions were that I had to use an authorized contractor on their list. I picked the closest one by zip code (Engergy Savers, Inc.) and made an appointment for a home energy audit. Bruce, presumably the owner of the business, showed up at my house with an assistant. They were supposed to conduct a number of tests to determine whether the house was losing heat, etc. They went so far as to unload some of the equipment from their car into the house but never used it. He seemed annoyed with my my simple questions concerning the work that had to be done...snappy, sarcastic responses. When it came time to talk money, he tried being a bit nicer. But when I refused to sign a blank contract he prepared - a contract to be completed by him at a later time with my signature already on it - his demeanor changed noticeably. I immediately asked him to leave and that was the end of it.
Description of Work: The provider wanted me to sign a blank contract for him to complete at his house. I refused to do so and his true nature surfaced.

I saw this company at the Home and Garden Show in Syracuse, New York in March of 2014. I gave them my contact information and told them I was interested in getting an estimate on some spray foam insulation for my basement and some new windows for the house. They contacted me in April and came out a few different times for measurements of the windows and to look at the insulation needs in our basement. They were very friendly at first through all this. By the first week of July they came out to my house and I signed all the final loan documents and contracts to have the work done. They told me after they submit all my paperwork it would take 6-8 weeks and that they would be ready to do the work by the first or second week of September. My goal was to have the work completed before winter. As we approached the second week of September I recieved a phone call from Energy Savers that they were waiting for me to turn in my signed loan paperwork. I asked them what they were talking about because that was all completed back in July and here I sat under the impression that the work was going to be done any day now. The lady I talked to then realized that she was the one that came out to my house and sat down with me to sign all the papers. She then miraculously remembered where my paperwork went and said they would put a rush on it. The next day one of the sales guys called me and said that they now needed to adjust the price on the work to be done because some cost wasn't factored into the contract that was already signed. I reminded him they came out at least 3 different occasions to measure and remeasure the windows and through all the months of waiting they never once mentioned an error on their part in the estimate they gave me, and now they want to raise the price last minute. At that point I lost all my respect for Energy Savers and told them I no longer wanted the work done because of their incompetance and unproffesionalism with the way they handle their business. They wasted my time from April to September and then tried to breach a sign contract to increase my cost.
Description of Work: Was very untimely in providing services. Lost my loan Paperwork for months and waited up to the time when I was supposed to have the work completed on my house(or so I thought) to call about it. Then they tried to say they had to increase my estimate for the work to be done even though I already had a signed contract.

I called Energy Savers last November 2012 and asked for a home energy evaluation appointment, preferably to be scheduled on a saturday. On the day of the appointment, Bruce McClean arrived, introducing himself as the firm's president. He arrived without the measurement tools needed to accomplish my energy survey, and by way of explanation he said he was on his way to a football game! Without tools, he walked around my house and made many verbal recommendations without any tools to survey the premises! Despite not having tools, he wanted to talk--about the football game, and I had to redirect him back to the matter at hand a few times. Among his recommendations, he walked past windows and stated they needed more external caulking--without examining them first! He also stated I should have all of the insulation removed from the ceiling in the basement, which I found to be unbelievable! His office had to make another appointment for someone to bring the audit tools to actually survey the premises. The man they sent acted like he was angry. He repeated Bruce's recommendation to hire them to remove the ceiling insulation in my basement! He also suggested a recommendation to hire them to remove all of my (recently installed) vinyl siding to re-insulate, despite my assurance that the siding installer had doubled the rigid foam insulation under the vinyl, no kidding! I found this unbelievable! Once the audit tests were done, he said the report would be mailed from Energy Savers in about a week. No report arrived. When I called Energy Savers a week later about the report, they said my auditor was out sick, and to call back if it did not arrive. When I called a week later about the report, they said he was a bit behind due to sickness, and promised to send the report within a week. No report arrived. When I called two weeks later about the report, they said he was still behind on his reports, and promised to send the report within a week. No report arrived. I never got the household energy audit report from Energy Savers. They called me a YEAR later-- to ask if I wanted to proceed with any recommendations contained in my report! Again I stated that I had not received any report. They said they would certainly look into the matter for me. No report arrived. Ever. Management needs to recognize that, once the audit is completed, the audit report is the most important outcome for the homeowner. I am *agog* that no report ever came. I still haven't gotten my energy audit report from Energy Savers, as of 12/30/2014. Incredible!

ASk for new windows in basement, not replacements. Installed replament over rotten wood frames. Ask to keep look of window moldings when wrapping house and siding. Not only did I lose the look of my house, windows just square wrapped. The siding installed was not even what we asked for. It was the correct color thou. After all was said and done it took almost 3 months start to finish, nost of the time my house was just wrapped in plastic. A credit of $1000 and an offer to get window and door headers at cost. This was all in the qoute but never done. By the time we can home from work the house was half sided and unable to go back. They made sure they got me for every $ of HUD loan we had. I have since found contracter that would have done the same work for less than 1/2. thought I was paying more to get what I wanted. Watch out for these guys they hire subs regardless what they say.

We got several estimates and found it a little difficult to sort through the differences in work to be completed and prices. We asked the representatives to come several times and I called with many questions. They were very responsive and patient. When we finally made a decision, the work was scheduled promptly. The work crew was incredibly professional, informative and polite. They were really nice guys.

Work was just done today so I do not have any experience on how well the insulation will hold up yet. Workers were courteous, efficient and very conscientious about neatness before, during and after the job. They brought in drop cloths, removed shoes when appropriate and used heavy duty vacuum to clean up all floors where they had been working or walking through. They asked me to inspect after they had finished each area and answered my questions. The work appears to have been done completely and thoroughly. The office called before the end of the day to ask if we were satisfied. Yes, we are.
Description of Work: Add blown-in insulation to main attic. Spray foam all ban joists in cellar. Spray foam walls and install polyethylene sheeting on floor of cellar crawl space. Spray foam all gaps in cellar ceiling and attic floor around pipes, electric, etc.

I own a sprawling hundred-year old carriage house with all the usual quirks and shortcomings that come with old homes. It was basically uninsulated; my heating bills were astronomical and the house was very drafty. I invited several contractors to give me quotes with proposals. All were sloppy or unresponsive. Energy Savers, however, was the exception: extremely service-oriented and highly professional. Methodically, they went through the entire house, using advanced technology to ascertain problem areas and what needed to be done. Their workers were diligent and committed. The outcome exceeded my expectations. AND they did the paperwork to help me recoup part of the cost from a state government energy incentive program. Finally, they called weeks after the job was done to ask if I was satisfied.
