BARRIER WINDOW SYSTEMS

The whole experience was horrible. The salesman had totally inaccurate information. He told us that we were eligible for a tax credit whereas we were not. He was telling us that we would get $1500 off, of the service, which we weren’t eligible for. It would have been a really big surprise at the tax time. The prices were exorbitant. It was horrible. I would not use them in the future.

The subcontractor said they completed the work in June and told my father they just ran out of cement and would finish cementing around the last window next week when they had more cement. They then asked for the final payment from a trusting elderly man without actually finishing the work. In October father asked me to see that the contracted work gets properly finished. On examination of the window in question I felt a cold draft coming in under the window where the frame is supposed to be cemented to the basement wall. There is a one half to one inch crack along the entire bottom of the window frame from the inside. From the outside there is an approximately two inch hole leading into the cinder block wall where water can enter and cause damage to the foundation and framing. I have been in weekly contact with the secretary at Barrier Window's phone number for a month now. First she told me I had to talk directly to Barrier's service manager to get this resolved. After leaving my phone number for the manager for 2 weeks on their company's voice mail with no result I began calling more frequently. Then finally the secretary gave me the subcontractor' s phone number. After several calls with no answer from the subcontractor I then called the secretary one more time. After I reminded the secretary that my elderly parents need to heat their home this winter and the window in question leaks air worse than the window they replaced she continued to attempt to put me off. Finally I reminded the secretary that Barrier Window is legally responsible for this contract and my only legal recourse is to take Barrier Window to court. Even after this the best she could tell me is that Barrier Window will have a service manager in Syracuse a week from today who can look at the window and make some decision on what they will do next. My conclusion from this experience is that Barrier Window has expanded beyond their ability to manage business in Syracuse effectively. They are overpriced, The subcontractor involved is irresponsible, installation is substandard and the secretary is paid to delay rather than resolve complaints. A copy of this evaluation is being reserved and will be submitted to small claims court along with the contract, pictures, a statement from my father and dates of calls made if this matter is not resolved by the end of November.
