We hired North Eastern Pools and Spas to do a liner replacement for our inground pool. We went with them because they were a family owned business with years in the industry. We were told we needed to put down a deposit to ensure our job to be done in Spring of 2021, so in fall of 2020 we paid for half of the job, and were told we would pay the remainder upon completion in Spring. At the time when the liner was put in it was raining heavily , but we were told that this would not be an issue. It took several days as the install began on a Friday, and the pool had to fill slowly in stages with fans running in order to keep the liner in place. The installer came out to finish installation on Monday, and the liner was sagging and wrinkled off the pool walls, The installer assured me that once the pool was full the wrinkles and sagging would be gone. We accepted this as the liner looked much better once we did have the pool filled. In the fall we closed our pool and once again the liner wrinkled and sagged. We immediately called and the service representative told us that she had notated the account , and that they would address it first thing in opening season in Spring. I called North Eastern pools in mid April of this year ,2022 to inquire about addressing the issue once we opened the pool. When I called , the service representative I spoke to was dismissive and unapologetic as she proceeded to tell me that they would come out sometime in June or possibly even July, weather permitting to assess the pool liner. I asked why I would have to wait as this was a job I had paid for which was under warranty. She told me that after they did “ pool reopenings”, they would come out after they addressed the 15 other people in line ahead of me. She proceeded to talk over me to the point I actually thought she couldn’t hear me , and that our connection was bad. She told me flatly ,” no I can hear you” . I told her it was unacceptable that I’d have to wait as this was a job already paid for that should have been completed correctly in Spring of 2021. I asked to speak to a supervisor and was told much of the same , and this woman laughed and insinuated that I was lying when I told her I was assured in the fall it would be addressed first thing in spring. My husband removed the pool cover and we saw that the liner looked even worse than it had in the fall. My husband called and spoke to Gene ( the owner) who told my husband he, “ would not send anyone out to look at our pool without a credit card on file” . My husband told him this was a warrantied product/ service and that it wasn’t done correctly the first time , and that he would not pay additional money . My husband and I didn’t feel that we were comfortable with using North Eastern Pools not only after failing to do the job correctly, but also in light of how we were treated by the owner and service team. I’m thoroughly disappointed in their workmanship and their disregard bordering on contempt for their customers. Install errors can happen, but not standing behind their work, and the lack of regard for a customer who has paid for a job that wasn’t done well initially and then telling that customer they’d have to wait till June/July for any service appointment is completely unacceptable. The fact that pool openings were to be addressed first , (I’m guessing because this was money to be made versus monies already paid), is beyond wrong and prioritizing customers over a job that was supposed to be done right the first time is egregious. Our options were to not have a pool to use until June or July, or to go with someone else and lose the money spent on the initial Install by paying someone else to fix their mistake. We chose the latter. Do not make the same mistake, do not go with Northeastern pools and spas. They do not respect their customers time or money, and they do not stand by their work.

Referred me to a contractor, Scott Deuschel, because they no longer service what they sold us. He was a no call no show TWICE. When i asked for another referral, Alyssa told me thats the only one they know and i should reach out to friends on social media to see if they know anyone! Poor customer service and ZERO service on what they sell. Will never do business with again.

Most of the problems with this company involve communication and customer service related issues. Overall it is a nightmare. The lack of professionalism runs rampant from the owner to the scheduling person to the subcontracters. I do not know how the final product is going to be. The pool looks nice so far, but I am very afraid of potential issues in the future and having to rely on this company for any maintance or liner replacement. If I knew this process was going to be such a problem I would have gone with an above ground pool or found another company for an inground installation. When a consumer is making such a large investment I feel they should be given the respect and peace of mind to let them know step by step what is happening with their property.
Description of Work: I urge people to use another pool and spa company if possible. The process started mid March and is still going. Services provided include inground pool installation, filter, heater, grading of the yard, and installation of cement around the pool. The sales manager did a good job selling the product to us. The inground site manager did an excellent job finding a shape of pool that was suitable for the yard. The pool walls went in without a probem. The problems began about a week after the pool was delivered. A number a cardboard boxes were placed on the side of the house by the trash cans. I assumed it was trash that needed to be thrown away. The boxes sat there a couple of weeks. The pile gradually got smaller. No one from the company bothered to tell us that the remaining boxes contained gaskets, ladders, vacumn, etc that would be needed later. The dogs started ripping open the boxes. Luckily nothing was damaged and I put the boxes in the garage. We called regarding aproximately six or more dump truck loads of dirt that was left in our yard after the pool was dug. So we called the inground site manager, who came out looked at the dirt and told us that it was a lot of dirt. He told us he had to talk to his boss which is the owner of the company who happened to be on vacation. So about a week later the owner came to the house to check out the dirt mounds. He confirmed what we already knew that it was a lot of dirt. Provided no reasonable explanation why so much was left other than the person that did the digging thought they were going to need that much to do the final grading towards the end of the project. While he was here I discussed the pool supplies left in the yard and the much needed improvement in communication. The owner initially had many excuses which consisted of not having enough help at the office as it is a seasonal buisness and this is there busy season. We also discussed the lack a planning and spur of the moment arrival of workers. He eventually apologized as we agreed to disagree on our view points of the problems. The next problem ocurred during the liner installation. There were items in the boxes that were needed to finish the liner installation. My wife and I were working when we recieved phone calls from the pool company that they needed some of those items. The worker wanted to know if there was any way they could get the supplies from the garage. I did not feel comfortable giving them the code for the garage door. I had told the owner the day he came out to inspect to dirt mounds that I placed all those items in the garage. My wife arrived home the earliest that day, but it was not til 5. If they had given us proper notice and communicated with one another the process would have been much smoother. Once the pool was full of water a technician from the company came out to start the filter system. This was on a Friday. There was a leak coming from the heater when the filter was operating. The company representative had no idea why there was a leak. The rep. informed us no one was available to fix the probem til Monday. He gave us liquid chlorine and told us we could still go in the pool if we wanted. The water at that time was about 62 degrees and we could heat it. A team of people came out the following Monday and fixed the leaky heater. Then about four days later an electrician came out to do additional work. At that time we did not have any power to any of the pool equipment. Had to call the scheduling person who rarely ever answers the phone to have it fixed. An electrician came out again told us he did not have the part to fix it and temporarly fixed the probem so we could run the filter. No one from the company ever called us to tell us if the problem was fixed permanently. So about a week later my wife called the scheduling person who we are referred to for all probems and she told us it was fixed "as far as she knew". On June 15th I tried to plug my saw into the outlet that was installed by the pool company at the far end of the pool and had no power. I called the owner who I had discused issues with early on in this process regarding the communication problems. He told me it would be fixed. That Monday June 18th I called the scheduling person to find out when the problem would be fixed. She told me she did not know there was a problem. That night at about 8:00 the electrician showed up and told us he was here to fix the problem. After about an hour and half the problem was fixed. A wire needed to be replaced. Finally the electrical seems to be working properly. Now we are waiting for the concrete to be poured. This is a subcontracted company that works with North Eastern to the best of my knowledge. We had to call multiple times to get this process moving. The area was escavated and the forms were placed. About a week later they came back to put the crushed stone base down. While they were here doing the stone no one from the company called to tell us they were coming. While they were here that day no one knocked on the door to inform us that they were here and no one told us when they were done. My wife and I were home all day. I got a slight wave from one worker. We called the scheduling person at North Eastern to inquire when the mason was goiing to finish the job. She told us Wednesday June 20th. No one showed up Wednesday. So we called the next day. I called North Eastern early and left a message for the scheduling person to call me back and let me know why the mason did not show up and when the job would be complete. We called the mason directly who tells us that he told the scheduling person yesterday that it was to hot to pour the concrete. Again, the scheduling person did not bother to notify us that the work was put on hold. A majority of the workers strolled into the back yard to do work without checking to see if our dogs were inside. We have three large dogs in a fully fenced yard. On one occasion when I was in the back with the dogs two workers walked right up to me without identifying who they were with the dogs actively barking at them. Luckily for me and my wife the dogs did not bite any of these people. My wife and I were in disbelief after scheduling an appointment at the store in East Rochester, to bring in a water sample and pick up pool chemicals. When we got to the store we were not in their system for the appointment. The person I spoke with on the phone was standing there and remembered speaking with me, but it was not scheduled. While I was there I asked if there was a customer service representative or store manager I could speak with. The pool company employee looked dumbfounded said no and I am not following. Apparently customer service is a foreign term there.

Pool heater, which came with house purchase, was not working. Called this company for service and they said they would send a tech out within 2 days. A week later no one had yet arrived. Called back twice to find out what was going on, and when the guy would come. Always told the same thing; tomorrow or the next day. Finally show up 2 weeks after the initial call. Tech said he cleaned, adjusted and 'loosened' things up and that heater was working. Checked, and it was. However, the very next day it was no longer working. They charged me $105 for a service call that didn't fix the problem, and were a hassle to get on site.
Description of Work: Pool heater repair. Heater worked for an afternoon after being "repaired", then quit.
