NASSAU ROOFERS INC

Over the past year I had shingles flying off the roof and began looking for roofers that could "repair" my roof. After a few initial consults (top search results from google and service industry sites) and some less than desirable encounters I was demoralized and procrastinated on the search. Fast forward to recently as even more shingles flew off on other sections of the roof - Well lets just say I was motivated to get this addressed before TRUE damage occurs. That began the even more recent search and with many quotes on or about the same range for the size of my job it came down to two people (both local as I also wanted to support local businesses). Ultimately Nassau Roofers was my final decision as it was a good balance of value and from my interactions "trust" that the job will get done correctly. - They didn't pitch me on extras like many of the other roofers did. - Rather advised me of other material options and let me decide which way to go. - Wound up going Owens Corning after doing research on my own Break down of my experience from Start to Finish: - Call to get someone out to look at the roof - That team came out that afternoon - Spoke of options and quote provided - Did research and made as informed decision as a layman can - Called to confirm worked electronically - Kicked started the project (EG paid the initial start fee) - Scheduled the install date and was advised to clear the driveway the day before for materials delivery. - Materials and Crew arrived as promised (and it was a ARMY of people) - Advised of unforeseen issues which delayed completion by a half a day - This was both via the back office and job-site team made sure I was aware too - Blam - Roof complete and looking beautiful - Pay the final balance as all work was complete and exceptional. All in all this took exactly TWO weeks and two days from calling to getting a new roof and fairly contact less (except for paying the bill) The team both on site and back office was exceptional in communication and professionalism throughout the experience. They worked hard, fast, and clean to get the old roof off and disposed along with installing the new roof.

They did a great job and are very responsive. I would highly recommend them to others.

The maintenance was not provided, but the roof was replaced (satisfactory) by the provider. The cost of the maintenance package was not returned as agreed. Note: This review is only in regards to the maintenance package and not the new roof.

I can not say enough about the professionalism and the honesty of this company. They completed the job on time, for the same cost they quoted and were a pleasure to work with. Anyone who has had a roof done knows you will find tile and nails for weeks after the job.. not with Nassau Roofers, my house and all around it were spotless. Even more impressive.. years later my mom had her roof done by a different company and was completely ripped off. they did a shoddy job and overcharged. Nassau roofers went to my moms house after the roofer left and gave her items that she should ask the company to fix. They did this at no charge and knew that the job was done, so there was no money in it for them. There is no one in my family that will go with any other roofing company in the future.

The provider was very professional, willing to work with our budget and ready to do the work. My husband and I are satisfied with the work done. Workers were punctual, respectful and professional. They cleaned the gutters, and installed the new roof; worked fast and cleaned after they finished. We also like the fact that the provider did not ask for money in advance, they finished with the job last Thursday and picked up the payment today. No problem what so ever. It rained Friday and we had no leaks; however, I am waiting for a strong storm to really put the roof to its final test. We like to work with no nonsense companies such as this one. They gave me two options. One was $250 and the other was $3,000. I went with the less expensive option for the roof above my den with calking. He was very nice and I had no problems with them and appreciated their honesty.

The employees at Nassau Roofers were honest. They came to inspect the roof, told us it needed repair, not replacement and gave us a fair estimate for the work. My only issue was that I was never sure when the work would be done, because it was a small repair job.

They were excellent. They offered a 12 year labor warranty in writing and the shingles had 50 year warranty. There was a crew of about 15 and they finished the project in one day. They were very tidy throughout the whole process. They took extra precautions to make sure that my lawn and house was covered as well as te neighbors. You could probabyly find someone cheaper but you would not get the quality of the work or the professionalism that they provide.

My Mom who is 97 had several shingles missing at the peak of the roof. They responded promptly to my request and willingly worked with me regarding setting up when they would be doing the repair and to send me the bill. After I asked them if they could reduce the original quoted price they wished to work with me regarding the cost but they pointed out the precarious location of the repairs but did manage to reduce the original quoted price. I would definitely use Nassau Roofers again should the need occur

We got four estimates. Nassau Roofers estimate had all the right stuff. A folder with the written estimate, their current insurance information that checked out when I called, information on the roof materials etc. very professional. We made the choice to go with Nassau Roofers. They were ready to start the next week but we were not. They started in two weeks. Product was delivered on Monday, they started on Wednesday. It was a little bumpy at first with all the people they had working the first day. Tear off crew and then the roofing crew. The tear off was more involved because all the plywood was being replaced. We felt to really have a "new roof" the plywood had to also be replaced. It was an extra $3,000 but we feel better knowing it really is a new, solid roof. The roof did come out really nice. No leaks. I know that is the way it is supposed to be, but it doesn't always end that way. I had a few complaints. There were some issues with a person putting their foot through ceiling. It happens, we didn't get crazy about it. But we were asked to handle it with the tear off crew. That should not have been our problem. It was the company's. Then it was weeks before we resolved the issue. So in all that time we had a hole in the ceiling. All through Hurricane Sandy too. What a nightmare. It sounded like trees and branches were coming through the roof, since most of the insulation was taken out. The roofing foreman insisted he took out a double layer of plywood off the cathedral ceiling and the insulation, but the insulation was never removed in this area. A MAJOR problem with our next job, two months later, installing insulation. Assuming there was no insulation because the roofer insisted to us, it was taken out, the insulation company cut through the ceiling to start their job to put in baffles and blow in insulation, out POURED 50 years worth of insulation all over the living room, dining room and den!!! What a mess. There wasn't a zip wall barrier put in place because there wasn't supposed to be any insulation. All because the insulation was NOT removed out of the cathedral area. After the job was completed, we received the invoice. There were extra charges on the invoice. When I called to inquire why, I was told the old plywood added to the carting prices. I feel when the roofer knew we were having the plywood removed, it should have been dealt with then and adjusted the estimate. Not at payment time. There should have been a change order put in place before the job started for any changes along the way. I realize it is not always easy to do but it helps with customer relations. Change orders are a very good practice. Something I would recommend for dealing with any contractor. Everyone understands the rules at the beginning of the project. Without a change order signed off, there will be no extra charges paid at invoice time. Communication is key. Most people are reasonable and just don't want surprises. All in all the roof does look great.

There was no charge for this visit. They filled in some holes because they used the wrong kind of plywood. There were some gaps where bugs were getting in so they replaced it. They are ok. I might use them again.

The roofer arrived the morning approx 8:00 am, and finished appox 2:00 pm, cleared old roof and all scraps, etc,Very good workmanship, About a week later they sent a bill.

They came at the right time to make the appointment with us. We spoke with them and they were right upfront with us and told us what needs to be done. Then we decided to go ahead with it, they came in, bang, bang, bang, they did the job and so far, it has been good for us. Their workers were good. I would recommend them to others. In terms of price, it was fair. In terms of quality of work, as long as there’s no leak it’s great. Responsiveness was good. I would use their services again in the future.

I contacted Nassau Roofers after receiving recommendation from friend. Rep came to my home while I was at work and left estimate in mailbox. After receiving phone approval all work was completed while I was at work. No advance deposit was requested prior to beginning work. Bill was left in mailbox. Exterior of home was very clean when I returned home and gutters looked great.

I was raised in an apartment, and to me wood is something that crumbles in your hands, and hardware is what you use to run your software. My garage roof had a leak, and my patch attempts had failed. Nassau Roofers' estimate was the most professional of my responses. Though 10% over a competitor, I chose them because their estimate included all the references (I even checked a couple!), insurance and license information a customer could want, and the estimator (company president John Reuter) was obviously experienced and professional. He warned me there would be debris falling inside the garage, so I cleared out my car. I was offered a choice between GAF and Owens Corning shingles, but I could't decide. (What goes with peeling paint?). I was in no rush, so I let them pick a date. I got the call on a Thursday for the next day, and I agreed, on condition they finish before end of business that day. Mr. Reuter showed me a sample of silver colored roof shingle, and I okayed it with a shrug. (I should have checked my calendar - I had a morning dentist appointment that date.) I left the garage open and empty for them 9 AM the next day, and warned my wife they were coming. When I returned from my dentist at 10:30, a large red truck from Russo Brothers of Suffolk County (apparently a subcontractor) was backed up against the garage, a tarp covering a mound of what had been removed, and the three subcontractors were sitting around waiting. I don't speak Subcontractor. I said hello. They said hello. Having exhausted my conversational gambits, I went inside to check my phone messages and email. Still there. I decided to try a minimal intervention, by phoning Nassau Roofers to let them know their subcontractors were apparently done. (This was presumptious on my part, in retrospect. Maybe they were waiting for wood to replace that back drip edge?) Nassau Roofers responded "uh, okay" to my report, and a short while later the Russo Brothers truck left, and two Nassau Roofers vans of energetic young men arrived, who set to work applying tar paper and shingles. When they started to apply the hot rolls, I remembered the new band of sunlight still beaming into my garage from the rear, and I pointed it out to one of the workers. He halted the roll roofing in time to apply some 3 inch L shaped flashing material across the rear of the garage to cover the gap. (In all fairness, you couldn't see the gap from above, it being at the rear against the fence, and no one was venturing into my cluttered garage to look for beams of light. And I should have cleared out the empty garbage pails blocking access to the rear of the garage.) The rest of the roofing proceeded without interruption. My bee-eaten dormer drip edges got nailed back against the roof, with no extra flashing on them. (I didn't have any explicit reference to them in my proposal, so I didn't say anything. (My wife rolled her eyes later when she saw them.)) After cleanup, a more senior-looking worker (not the estimator) stepped forward to ask if I had any questions. I asked a dumb question about the shiny spots showing between the shingles. Apparently they're not nails, but bits of an adhesive strip to hold the bottoms of the shingles down, showing through the gaps. Exterior cleanup was complete, down to each nail and disk and wrapper. I offered my check, but was told to wait for the bill in the mail. It arrived promptly, matched the proposal, and I paid it by mail. Interior cleanup was up to me, just some broom work. I waited for a good rain storm to file my report. Rain streams off the 3" flap of roll roofing sticking out at the rear of the garage, and the inside is dry. I guess I'm done.

They did an excellent job and were here on time. They cleaned up all the materials and communicated with me well, answering all my questions and advising me properly as to what they recommended to restore these two roof areas. Two years ago they replaced my main roof and knew not to place a roof over cedar shingles, but instead to strip the roof down to the beams and place down plywood sheathing and a quality roof in just one day.

I had to supervise their work. I felt like if I had not been around they would have taken short cuts. They did not replace the wood before re-covering it with shingles. I had to complain about the gutters. They left them full of debris from the roofing job. They postponed the completion of the work due to rain, but they did not put a cover over the hole. I had to do it myself! I also felt the price was too high. I am giving them decent scores for being on time, responding quickly to my complaints, and doing a decent job in the end.
