Charged for an estimate to change the shower fixtures and all I was given was "go buy what you want and we can install it". No suggestions nothing. I overpaid them for a hot water heater a month ago because I was desperate and they could do it that day. I paid over $3300 for the hot water heater that came complete with a dent in the tank. Avoid them at all costs.
Description of Work: Replacement of shower fixtures. Paid for an estimate for someone to tell me we only have chrome fixtures. Go pick out what you want and we can install it. Offered to install a sink fixture for $500 if I go pick it up. I will go buy a sink fixture and I will install it for $0. Thanks for nothing.

Their service is extremely high priced. Prices are outrageous. They give you an estimate and if you don't give them the job, they still charge you for an estimate. Charged and replaced parts that were not necessary. They claimed Kitchen drain was leaking and installed new strainer. There was no leak at all under my sink and technician never said there was. after he was done he told me he put a new strainer in the sink for me. Under my sink was not wet and never had a leak. On Oct 08, 2021 they were hired to install a new dishwasher. I never had any problems with the old one draining and had no leaks. The old dishwasher went bad and new one needed to be installed. I was charged $1,846.61 for work no where near that price. Parts couldn't have been more than $200. The biggest problem was when they left and finished the job, I saw that there was now a leak. Called Ray the Plumber and they came back and fixed it at no charge. I mentioned to the technician that when I ran water I heard banging in the water pipes. He just looked at me and never said anything. November 6 2021 I put heat on upstairs in my home for the first time. I was not getting heat upstairs and called Bay Fuel. The technician asked me if I had plumbing work done in the home recently, I said yes and explained what Ray the Plumber did. He said I had no heat because the plumber drained your system and never filled it properly and my system had tons of air in it. I was charged $135.78 I never knew the work Ray the Plumber did was related to me not having heat, otherwise I would have called them. I contacted Ray the Plumber through email and explained what happened and felt I should be reimbursed. I told him I was contacting him to correct this before I do a review on social media. Ray the Plumber was the most arrogant person I ever did business with. He told me he would contact me Monday to straighten this out. After he told me this, he said this......ɪ ᴛʀʏ ᴛᴏ ᴍᴀᴋᴇ ᴀʟʟ ᴍʏ ᴄᴜꜱᴛᴏᴍᴇʀꜱ ʜᴀᴘᴘʏ, ᴀɴᴅ ɪ ᴡɪʟʟ ꜰɪx ᴛʜɪꜱ ᴛᴏᴏ. ʏᴏᴜ ᴅᴏɴ'ᴛ ʜᴀᴠᴇ ᴛᴏ ᴛʜʀᴇᴀᴛᴇɴ ᴍᴇ ʙʏ ꜱᴀʏɪɴɢ ʏᴏᴜ ᴡɪʟʟ ɢᴏ ᴏɴ ꜱᴏᴄɪᴀʟ ᴍᴇᴅɪᴀ ᴏʀ ᴡʜᴀᴛᴇᴠᴇʀ ᴀɴᴅ ᴡʀɪᴛᴇ ᴀ ʙᴀᴅ ʀᴇᴠɪᴇᴡ. ɪ'ᴠᴇ ʙᴇᴇɴ ᴀʀᴏᴜɴᴅ ꜰᴏʀ 50+ ʏᴇᴀʀꜱ ᴍᴀᴋɪɴɢ ᴍʏ ᴄᴜꜱᴛᴏᴍᴇʀꜱ ʜᴀᴘᴘʏ...ᴡᴇ'ʟʟ ꜰɪɢᴜʀᴇ ᴛʜɪꜱ ᴀʟʟ ᴏᴜᴛ ᴍᴏɴᴅᴀʏ. That is not how you talk to a customer. I am contacting him as a courtesy before I give him a bad review and he has this arrogant answer. STAY FAR AWAY FROM THESE CROOKS. PRICES ARE OUTRAGEOUS AND VERY UNPROFESSIONAL!!
Description of Work: On Oct 08, 2021 they installed a dishwasher and rerouted the water and discharge lines that went under my sink. They claimed my Kitchen drain was leaking and would furnish install new strainer. There was no leak, and if there was under my sink would have been wet. They were hired to install a dishwasher. I had a leak after they finished their work.

we had a leaky dishwasher. Ray the plumber sent someone to fix it. we were told it was a valve. paid $75 for them to turn the valve and claim that was the problem. went to use the dishwasher and no water now was getting to the dishwasher. I suppose that's one way to fix a leak, they came and now said that was never the problem at all and they they needed to replace the pipe that they said was 30 years old (that's would be fine, except my house is only15 years old) $400 later, they replaced the pipe and left. Suddenly I now had no water pressure to my kitchen sink. call Ray the plumber back and they tell me it will cost $75 just for them to come back. obviously I did not have those thieves back, found a good plumber and problem solved. save yourself the annoyance and extra money and DO NOT USE RAY THE PLUMBER!!!!

I did not use them because the cost was double of their competitors to which I have the invoices! I called asking for my deposit of $40 to be returned weeks later I had to call again asking form my deposit to be returned she said it was on hold and did not share to the reason with me. I was put on hold and then she came back and said they would mail out that week. I received my deposit two days ago and low and behold it is for the amount of $24.02. I called and was rudely told that the service fee was now $75.98???? Buyer aware of the scamming of this company!!

The technicians were knowledgeable and friendly and arrived on time, did good work and left the area clean. The only reason I can't give 5 stars is something they do , and to be honest so do others, I don't like having to pay $69 for a price quote, yes you get it back if you have them do the work but I think it is unfair and prohibits your getting more than one price quote as it would cost you hundreds of dollars to do so. The other thing I don't like and again many do it. You can get a senior discount but only if you ask. I find it embarrassing to have to ask.

Plumber arrived, Joey, and looked at the sink installation and saw the leak. He said that the gasket needed replacing. He also tried to have the drain pipe replaced at the same time. I told him there was nothing wrong with the drain pipe. He wanted to charge $239+ for the repair. He stated that he could not make the repair of just the gasket since the repair was TOO small. This was a total rip off since a gasket costs less than $3.00 for two at any hardware store and the drain pipe probably would cost less than $15-20. He refused to make the repair if I insisted on just the gasket. I told him no and wanted me to pay a service fee. I said for what, you refused to change the gasket. Outrageous! Will not call Ray the Plumber again!

Asked for the plumber who came to call me back. No Call. Asked for the owner to call me back . No Call. I felt the bill was inflated by using several tests that each added to the price which ended up being over $800 and that was about 4 times the original estimate. My biggest objection was a $199 charge to "pump" up the gas to find the leak as the team had no Gas Sniffer which only costs about $30 instead of charging $199 to find the small leak. Just my opinion but felt the job could have been done much much cheaper and no return phone call from the plumber was one bad thing but no return call from the manager was unacceptable in my opinion. I would definitely suggest getting several quotes. And if it is gas, ask for them to buy or bring a 30 buck sniffer and skip the $199 charge.

The plumber arrived a couple of hours later only to tell me he couldn't do the job that day as it would take a couple of hours to complete, and it would cost $849.95!!!!! (plus a $75.98 dispatch/estimate fee which would be deducted from the $849.95). It was a complete rip off!!!! I told him it was ridiculously expensive and I would look elsewhere. The plumber justified the outrageous fee saying it was comparable to other plumbers, and that they have overhead and health insurance to pay. I politely told him I would need to get other estimates, but couldn't help but feel that he was taking advantage of me assuming I would pay anything he would charge. After he left, I called a trusted plumber I have used in the past who came a week later and completed the job in 1 hour and 15 minutes. IT DID NOT TAKE HIM A COULD OF HOURS! I was charged me $280.00 for the work. Never again will I call "Ray the Plumber", and will in fact warn anyone about going to this outfit. I have included a copy of the bill from "Ray The Plumber," and would be happy to show the bill from Brian of Aquarius, the plumber I used. However, this review will only allow me to attach 1 picture. Note: for this terrible experience with Ray the Plumber, I had to pay $75.00 which is their charge for an estimate.

went well we also needed to replace the expansion tank existing one had been put wrong. Anthony explained to us what had to be done and began to drain and take old tank apart while awaiting guy with the new tank. A neat job done, its in our pantry room. The service is nice too ,I had called cause of course water had been turned off so when we flushed toilet it made a rumble noise, yikes! I did n/a price cause I have no idea about this stuff. Lots of parts and torch work done can't believe how neat.

The job went well. The plumber showed up on-time. We had an issue with the shower replacement because we had purchased a different brand and it would have required making new holes in the wall to install. He referred us to a supply store where we were able to get the right parts, since Lowe's and Home Depot didn't seem to carry them. He was able to work on the sink while we were getting the shower part. Entire job took about 4 hours. Perhaps a bit pricey, but I think it was worth it for the quality work and professionalism (such as putting down paper to not get the floor dirty as he went in and out).

Hired to repair a leaky faucet in a bathroom sink at my 90 year old Mom's house. $369 + tax to "replace seats and washers" in a standard sink, took about 30 minutes. Office manager "Corrie" says those are "flat rate prices". I call it unacceptable. I wont do business with them again.

After contacting the office at Ray the Plumber, they scheduled an appointment the same day. Connor Karl arrived within a short period of time. We knew right away he would be extremely professional. He arrived in a pristine service truck and immediately placed a mat outside of our front door and tarp inside and taking off his shoes. We explained the issues and he went diligently to work. He located the leaks, diagnosed the problems and commenced the preparations for repairing the leaks. This job was entailed and required a great deal of knowledge and expertise in which Conor possessed. He worked efficiently and was meticulously neat. The repair was superb. Conor was professional, kind, courteous and thoughtful. We are a Ray the Plumber customer for life! If you need a plumber, do not look any futher and call Ray the Plumber. You will not be disappointed.

The technician quoted a price of $350. for replacing the part. When I questioned the exorbitant price he said he would call Ray to see if he would discount the price. Ray quoted $250. Since I had previously has this part changed in my former house I know this was still an unreasonable amount. I paid the technician the $75. estimate fee they charged. I called another plumber who came over, replaced the $15 part and charged $100. for the work. $115. for work Ray the Plumber wanted $350./$250. I call him "Ray the Thief"

Called for an appointment of Friday, said they would be there on Monday between 9:00 and 12:00. The technician, Rich, arrived on time at 10:00am. He assessed the problem, explained to me what he would do to fix the problem and provided an estimate within 15 minutes--which was accepted. The work took about 30 minutes to complete. It looked clean and professionally done--bottom line--no leaks! Rich then explained to me what was defective about the leaking pipe and how it was improperly installed. Overall, nice job! Rich was very professional, skilled and helpful!

Response from Ray The Plumber
Hi Ms. [Member Name Removed], I wanted to respond to your unfair review as I do not feel it gives an accurate representation of my company, and what we do, and have been doing for over 40 years. I will respond point-by-point so that the Angie’s list community can see just how unfair you were to my company and how what you said is not representative of the way I train my technicians, or my flat rate pricing guidelines. In response to you saying “ this company only carries VERY expensive items there is no range of prices basically they will force you to spend more money then needed because they do not carry a range of prices they only carry the most expensive high end items so the middle or lower class cant afford them,” I can tell you we carry the most stock and range of products on our trucks than almost any other plumber on the island. We carry water heaters, two different model toilets, and 13 different styles of faucet, all with different price levels. To say we only carry the most expensive products is inaccurate and untrue. We do carry high quality brass faucets, which aren’t cheap to stock on our trucks, but we want our customers to have quality products that will last in their homes. As to your accusation that our technician tries to push more expensive work, I can tell you our employees are paid hourly and not commissioned and therefore have no reason to “push more expensive work.” This does not mean I don’t train my technicians to give our customers options to know everything available to them so that they can be 100% satisfied with our work (like you said you were on your invoice.) We always want to be able to give our customers all the options available so that their current and future problems can be avoided. And the number one option you left out that our technician did offer was the right to refuse our service. We don’t force our service on anyone. We offer fair flat rate prices, but we also know we will never be in everyone’s price range, not for the quality and speed of the fast same day service we offer. This is why we give you the price BEFORE the job, which you agreed to and then told us you were 100% satisfied with when we finished. For these reasons I would ask you retract your unfair and inaccurate review. It does not represent the 2.5 hours of hard work that my technician did at your home, (for only $289.50 including valves and parts, which is an amazing price from any company.)

Called this morning and they came within two hours, so far so good. Came to fix a toilet that keeps running. Figured the job would cost between $75-$100 dollars as the toilet is under two years old and it is probably just a gasket. They arrived and were very nice, showed me the $5 dollar gasket that needed to be replaced and informed me that the job would cost $149. Keep in mind this job would take 10 minutes tops and would cost them $4 dollars in parts. Why do you have to stick it to the homeowner so bad? Can't you make your money on other bigger jobs? I actually need quite a bit of work done (plumbing new lines, etc) but will not be using them. Buyer beware, they advertise no job too small because they will charge you like it's a big job. I would rather go and buy and install a new toilet for $200 before I pay you $150 for a rubber gasket. Very upsetting.

Response from Ray The Plumber
Hi Mr. [Member Name Removed], I have read your review and wanted to tell you I appreciated all the nice things you said about my company. You let the Angie’s List community members know we arrived in our stated window of time, were nice, explained the problem and solution to prior to doing the job and let you make the decision whether you wanted to go forward or not with the proposed solution. Your only objection seems to be to the price we were charging. If the job was as simple as a $5 gasket and 10 minutes of labor I am sure we would have a lower price for a simple job, but you failed to include the costs of sending a highly trained technician to your house to diagnose your problem, a fueled and fully stocked truck that had exactly the gasket you needed, saving you time and possibly multiple trips to a plumbing supply warehouse to determine which gasket you would need and how to properly install it, and our ability to warranty our work and our willingness to return if you had any other issue with that gasket in the future. All these things cost money and factor into our fair flat rate pricing. We do hundreds of jobs every day and I can tell you that none are simple, and the only reason we have thousands of satisfied customers is because of our highly trained technicians with their fully outfitted trucks with every supply necessary to fix these problem the first time with our fast same day service. We understand we are not in everyone’s price range, but we stand behind our fair flat rate pricing, (the price that would have been true whether the job took 10 minutes or an hour and 10 minutes,) that we give prior to doing any work so that you do have a choice before going ahead with the work or not. I am sure you wanted your problem solved quickly and efficiently and that is why you called my office and received a live answer from my friendly staff who immediately set you an appointment. This time we were not the right company to solve your problem, but hopefully we can be in the future. Sincerely, Ray The Plumber
