It was never resolved. He told me that it ended up taking longer than usual because when he went into the crawl space he had to battle with blown insulation. I advised him that he should have called me to tell me such and tell me that the cost of the job would be significantly higher. He told me if I had any issues to call the billing department. I have called and left a message however they never called me back. I have since tried calling them with no answer.
Description of Work: I need some overhead lights put in my house. The house was built in 1920's so there were no overhead lights on the second level. I called for an estimate and the following day a nice gentleman was sent to my house. I gave him a list of my "wants" including overhead ceiling lights to be put in several rooms, along with some grounded recepticals and a few new lightswitches. He did a walk through and gave me an estimate of "6-8 hours worth of work at $73/ hour." He knew that he would need to access the crawl space in the attic to put the overhead lights in. He did not bother to look in the crawl space prior to giving me the "estimate." Several days before he was to arrive, I called him with a few additions to my "want list." The additions were to add 2 grounded recepticals and one more overhead light on the second level. I told him I would be out of town on the day that he was to work at my home however if there was a problem he was to call me. His 6-8 hour job ended up being 21 hours worth of work. He NEVER called me to inform me that there were issues that would drive the cost up. He proceded with the work. It took 2 men 8 hours each the first day and then he called me AFTERWORD to tell me that they were not finished and he needed another day or so. When I got the bill I nearly fell over!!!! He "estimated" the job would be 6-8 hours worth of work and ended up working 21 hours without even notifitying me!!!! I had no idea that there was a second person there the first day until I got the bill and called to say "why am I being charged for 21 hours?????" and then he told me that there were 2 people the first day working 8 hours (8 x 2 = 16) and then one person the second time for 5 hours. I was extremely upset...as I called for a "PROFESSIONAL" estimate and would not have contracted with him had he told me the job was going to take 16-21 hours. I was upset that he did not call to tell me that the original 6-8 hour estimate had changed to 21 hours.
