Otto Frey Plumbing & Heating

A mixed experience. My first call was about a problem toilet. They couldn't fix it and suggested I contact Kohler for parts. Ultimately I got an upgrade kit, and they installed it when they came about the leak mentioned below. I called and left a message about an apparent leak in the area of my boiler and hot water heater. They came the next morning, but without calling first to confirm I was home. My family let them in, and I was called out of a meeting to talk to them by phone. They fixed the leak in a pipe to the boiler and told me that I should replace my hot water heater. I agreed because it was old and not producing enough hot water. They said they would install a "good one." My mistake was not to ask more questions then and there. They returned at the scheduled time and installed the new water heater. I have no complaints about their punctuality or their work. My surprise came when I looked into a Con Ed rebate and discovered the new water heater was not an Energy Saver unit. I called and asked Otto Frey why they did not at least offer me the option. They said that they gave me what they gave everybody and they didn't "know anything about energy saver units," asked me if I were getting adequate hot water (yes) and insisted that the additional operating cost was minimal (not the point). Five months later I am still wondering how a plumbing company in Westchester in 2015 can have no concern for energy efficiency. Is it even legal to sell other than Energy Saver units? I am still so annoyed by their hostility that I'll mention one other complaint which, sadly, seems to be a common practice with plumbers. They invited me to pay cash to avoid the sales tax and even seemed put out when I declined.

We called Otto Frey Plumbing to take a look at a leaky shower. They assessed the situation and gave us an estimate. We had been without the shower for some time and were eager to get it fixed. They were very busy at that time, but did squeeze us in quickly, which I appreciated. They arrived on time, performed the work in a very quick fashion and cleaned up nicely. I think they were a little on the pricey side, but we're very satisfied with the work. I would use them again.

I called him to see if he was interested in doing the work and he responded in a courteous way and found time in his schedule for me the next day. He arrived as scheduled and got right to work. He did a very careful job, the faucet works beautifully. He was very careful not to make more mess than he had to and cleaned up after his work. He was also very helpful in advising me how to seal around my sink which was not part of the job. The job was done quickly, carefully and effectively.

This company was absolutely wonderful and gracious in terms of follow up service which was needed in order to hook up the new vanity properly. They were also professional and pleasant at all times during this project. I am unable to properly rate their pricing, however, because although I found their charges to be far more than I had expected. But, I am totally unaware of what the going rate is in this area, and I don't wish to be unfair to these providers.

WE REALLY HAVE USED THEM MANY TIMES IN THE PAST. THEY ARE LESS EXPENSIVE THAN THEIR COMPETITORS IN THE TOWN. THEY ARE VERY RELIABLE IN SCHEDULING APPOINTMENTS. THEY COME AND DO THE WORK. I HAD NO PROBLEMS WITH THIS COMPANY AT ALL.

IT WAS EXCELLENT. I WAS VERY HAPPY. HIS PRICE WAS FAIR. HE DID THE WORK, AND IT WAS EXTREMELY PROFESSIONAL. IT WAS DONE ON TIME. HE WAS A TOP NOTCH PLUMBER, JUST EXCELLENT.
