YOU MUST READ THIS REVIEW BEFORE HIRING THEM! Its a long one, its all true and unbias, and I wish I had had this info. Here is the thing. AZ is the guy who finds these contractors, he finds who is available that day of service that responds. I wanted to have my floors stained a darker color, so they had this guy show me samples and then he mixed a couple of stains to come up with a tint. fine I think. Decision made.Well floors were suppose to be done on June 24 I leave them and come back and I do not find the floors stained, only my bedroom because the guy said he stopped because it was uneven. When I went to look at it, well it was so uneven that I hated it! Then I heard how they were speaking I just said leave them blond. So they re-sanded my bedroom and finished the next day and told me they were not going to reimburse me for the stain because they already bought it..lol! I didn't even argue. I don't know why. BTW thinking back..my floors were beautiful and already blond, I would have only have had to have had them put a layer of varnish on them and not spend $4K!... SO they leave .... They left the saw dust with the varnish on the back deck. There were varnish splatters on the back board of the steps and the walls that I had just painted. I took pictures. I am an easy person, I give margin of error. I am not demanding and I work with the public everyday, and I know how hard it is!!! If anyone wants pictures they can inbox me. I called them to come and pick up garbage and come and help and just clean up... I didnt even want money back. After when the floors were finished I had a contractor in the house doing work, and he mentioned to me how he thought the job was not done right. Which made my doubts justified. There were overlap pieces in door ways. But to me it didn't seem sealed properly. They said they put two coats but I am sure there was only one coat, because why would there would be smoother areas where the varnish was overlapped/?! I am telling you these guys did a rush job;( Well, The next day we moved in. We go to sleep, and at midnight and my 14 year old son comes running into our room screaming that there were people at our front door screaming FIRE...!!!!! Well the bags of sawdust com busted and burnt down 1/2 my deck and partial siding, and the only reason my house didn't go down is because I had "Angel" neighbors that noticed quickly and got their hoses on it, I did not have hoses obviously because we moved in that day. Fire department didnt make it there for 10 min. The flames were at least 10 feet high. Next morning they came in they quickly cleaned up, they did fix everything, but only fixed 1/2 the deck, i should have pushed for the whole deck because it does not match. They replaced the siding and repainted the stairs and the piece of wall that had the varnish. THEY WERE VERY NICE ABOUT IT... I HAVE TO SAY AND APOLOGETIC. Anyway my husband had to call them several times to get stuff done and we do not want anything for free, but it got done. ..I also spoke to the owner about that I was unhappy about the un-evenness and that we spent 4 thousand dollars and we knew there was one coat.. the funny thing is that he didn't dispute that. The owner did said right now there was to much furniture that would come back in 6 months to give another coat. So idiots that we are we say yes. No body else would have... 6 months go by, I call and he does come back but I cant move my furniture all at once and I do not feel I should have to where am I putting it now.. shouldn't they help me?... I feel that they didn't do the job the right way the first time and it was a disaster I was owed something more. But we did moved the downstairs, but I couldn't move the furniture upstairs as well on the same day, so I told them it has to be a second trip.... so they come in for the first floor, and what is the result? by the front doors in my corridor I have actual varnish drops and a rub mark . you would think they would make this perfect!!!!! OMG I cant! I then call them to tell them and schedule that they come and fix the drops and do upstairs , and tell me that they have to charge me $500 to do upstairs(btw the receptionist is amazing, and you can hear in her voice her compassion but she has no control) ? I know that is not alot of money ... but what do you think if all this happened to you. ? I swear every piece of this is true; We are reasonable good, people... I think back now I should have gotten the whole thing for free. And my upstairs is still with one coat, the color of floors is not what I wanted, I have a two toned deck, varnish spots by my front door and I spent .. $4,000!!!!

UNBELIEVABLE results. Looks like a new house. They were on time and efficient. Quality of the work was outstanding and the two workers were incredibly nice and explained everything very well. Highly recommended.
Description of Work: Installed red oak in kitchen, then sanded, stained, and poly'ed the entire rest of my house including 18 steps.

A-Z Floor Sanding.com did not go well. They were here a few weeks ago. They did such a bad job that the insurance company came out and we are going to have to get a settlement with them and get somebody else in and they will pay. We are negotiating now over money. The insurance company and the owner of A-Z said it was a mess. The insurance company uses them. So the insurance agrees now, it has to be all re-done, it has to be completely all redone, stripped, sanded and re-ployurethaned. If you ever has gone through that experience, the stink in the house from the polyurethane and the dust from the sanding and you don't want to redo that again, but it has to be redone because the job was that bad. We don't feel confident having them come out again so we are having this other guy come back, he has been doing it for thirty years, but after they made such a mess, they said there is another guy in town that has a good reputation, we rather use him. But he is more expensive. That's why we are trying to negotiate. A-Z did such a bad job I don't want them back in my house. I would rather pay the difference and get the good guy do it and out of pocket pay the difference. It was an insurance job. They said their cost was $1.50 a square foot where everybody else quoted $2 or more. Maybe that's the reason the insurance company uses them because they are the cheapest, but the old thing you pay for what you get. Our floor is a grade A floor, the most expensive floor there is to have them mess it up, it was not a professional job, they should have sent this guy out if you are just doing a deck or something. The guy used an already opened can of polyurethane and it had chips in it. You saw the circular in the wood, it wasn't just one thing, he sort of messed up on three different things. The guy was pleasant enough that came, but he leaves and we look at it and it's a mess. He does want to make right on it. It wasn't me who picked the guy it was the insurance company that uses them. Could I recommend them? No.

They were GREAT!
Description of Work: I called A - Z for a final cleanup before work started to repair damage from Sandy. We had the first floor of our house gutted out to the cement and rafters and a significant amount of preliminary plumbing and electric work done. The garge, den, office, laundry and bath were filthy. Meagan sent over two ladies armed with mops, brooms and vacuums who took one look at the job, aske me if they could use my shopvac and had any masks, put their mops and carpet vacuums back in their car, and started to get down to the job. Three hours later, the constuction site was clean, the rough cement floors had been washed, all debris left from the cleanout was loaded into the dumpster in front of the house, just a marvelous job! When our construction is over, I want to have A - J do a whole house cleaning for us. I might even get Meagan so send the ladies on a regular basis, they are that good.
