Company was referred by our insurance company following an ice dam. Claim submitted on 01 March 2014. Paragon came out first part of March and assessed damages for both interior and exterior. Paragon recommended we get a whole new roof in lieu of repairing and told us that their company could replace the roof. ($16,000) Paragon also informed us that the chimney needed repairs but they did not do this type of work and did not know of a company to recommend to us. Paragon was unsure of what to do with the fireplace/mantel damage. I contacted a Masonry Company for the chimney work; however, nothing was getting done between both companies. Paragon would not do any work on roof area until Mason did work on chimney area. In May, I contacted insurance company about the situation and recommended the area be tarped off or something if no repairs are being done. Paragon returned and placed a tarp around chimney area ($800) and also partially demoed our foyer where water had come in. The mason expert come out and assessed chimney/flashing/cricket areas. He and I went up on the roof and he showed me where the water was coming in around flashing and showed me a hole in the cricket which Paragon simply covered with a tarp. The tarp was secured by wood and nails into my roof. The Mason did a water test to see where the was coming through into the house. We provided this info to Paragon. Two weeks later, Paragon came out and removed the tarp, "repaired" holes with silicone. The mason did not return to fix chimney and I contacted Paragon. The secretary referred a chimney contractor that "their" company regularly uses. I was shocked to learn of this as my representative/salesman/contractor for Paragon did not provide this information now three months into this job. I promptly contacted chimney folks, had the work completed and contacted Paragon so they could proceed with the job at hand. Paragon solicited us to get a new roof and pushed for us to select a particular shingle and color. Paragon said that he could get some sort of deal if we selected this particular one. I told him that I needed to see a sample prior to agreeing to ensure color is acceptable for our home. I was adamant about seeing sample before anything started on my roof and finally, in June, Paragon came to our home with a sample. I was shocked that the color was black and gray and we were to get autumn brown. Paragon was not happy but finally agreed that it was not good. He contacted the shingle company and it was agreed upon that there was an error in color. We were given addresses to ride by and look at roofs (!!!) Paragon then proceeds to tell us that the Township they had gone to get permit was not correct and they needed to know how to get to the City Hall building. He wanted to go to yet another wrong place and wanted the phone number of our Town's City Hall. And lastly, when were presented with the contract, sales tax was included. As this is a capital improvement and we filled out the tax exempt form provided by Paragon, I questioned this fee. By NY State Law, Paragon is not to collect sales tax from the homeowner for a capital improvement job that they are performing. This was the last straw and we withdraw our contract with Paragon. November now, foyer never completed, still trying to get the fireplace mantel work done. Worst experience ever.

Description of Work: we had wind damage and water damage from a storm. The insurance company suggested this company. When they finally gave an estimate, we paid them $1000 detuctable and we told that they would fix the roof and interior damage in the next 3 nice days. They charged $500 to just put a tarp over a small section of roof. Months passed and the only thing we heard was extra checks sent from the insurance company stating that paragon need more money due to extra damage they found while doing the repairs. THEY NEVER EVEN STARTED. How did they need two more checks when they haven't even been here? It is now April and still no work has been done. We have decided to go with a different company and now they won't give back the $1000.

We hired Paragon to repair siding that was torn from our house in a windstorm. We went through insurance so the amount paid represents our deductible. The total cost was more. We were disappointed with the punctuality and professionalism of the gentleman whom we first dealt with. On the first two occasions we set up a time to meet with him, he did not show up. He ended up performing an estimate without us being present which was not preferred but at least that part of the job was completed within a reasonable time. We however, were kept out of loop for much of this process. We weren't sure if he actually performed the estimate or not. We finally determined he did and because we were not present, the gentleman took a piece of siding with him in order to match for new siding. However, given a perfect match is not always possible, we were surprised when that piece was returned to us and had been cut and a large piece was missing. The swatches did not match at all. They suggested we use the old siding to cover as much of the repair as possible but obviously we were missing approximately 10 feet of siding because it had been cut and not returned. When we mentioned this to Paragon, they denied they cut the siding which upset us.They came to repair the siding and after looking at the old siding, first suggested we re-side the entire house. This seemed very aggressive given the repairs were only needed on an approx. 10 X 25 section of a 2-story house. We called our insurance and of course they would not cover such a repair. They then did try to come up with other options such as taking siding from other parts of the house that were less visible. In the end the original worker who had not been punctual and suggested we re-side the entire house left. At this point another worker spoke up and offered to help. He drove to a local building supply store and found a match. Within an hour he returned with a good match and had the job completed in another hour. The final product was very good. We have had at least 2 nights with high winds and the siding has remained secure to the house. We are not sure if the one worker was the only one not professional or if this is indicative of a larger problem with the company but either way we would never do business with this company and take the chance.
Description of Work: We hired Paragon to repair siding that was torn from our house in a windstorm. Paragon performed an estimate of the damage and repaired the section by replacing with some of the original siding and finishing with new siding. Area was about 10 X 25 ft.
