We had an awful experience with NYKB and the owner Perry. I would never recommend this company to anyone. From the deceptive initial contract, constant upcharging, horrible construction mistakes (such as tiling one bathroom wall three times), forgetting waterproofing, leaving a gaping hole in the concrete floor to the apartment below behind a wall, to our very unpleasant dealing with the owner when things go South and he tries to flip it and blame the client. Really? The sad part is that in NYC there are too many people that are unfamiliar with the construction process and he takes full advantage of them. Run, don't walk, away from this company!

The price was reasonable. I would be less likely to use them again if that lady was still there. It all depends on if that lady is still there. You go there and you order up the vanity, and the toilet, and the top, and blah, blah, blah, blah, blah; all the pieces and the parts. They sub-contract somebody to actually put it in. That's fine. I went on Angie's List and I found a fellow to come and put it all in. He had great reviews, he was in the area, I gave him a call and he was able to do it, everything's good. I gave that information to the lady that had taken the order and she flat out said, "I will not work with him". She had worked with him before and she didn't like him: "he was unprofessional". She straight up said she wouldn't not work with him. Then it got worse from there. I was unhappy with the vanity that they had for me, I think. So, I went to another company and found one there. I wrote to her and said "I found one there and I'm going to go with that, but everything else is the same, the tile and the top and door and the shower doors and all of that, we're going to go with that". She initially wrote back, "I think you can get all of that there, so why don't you just use them", and I thought, "what did I do to her?" So, I went in (clearly she didn't want to work with me), so okie-dokie, but she had already ordered the tile and I had to come in and get the tile. So, I went in to get the tile and pay for the tile and to talk to her and say, "can we resolve this? Or No? Or what do you want to do here?" and she wasn't in. I talked to the manager who was horrified. I showed him the email, so I'm not making this up. "This is what she wrote to me, do you not want my business or what is the story?" He took me on himself, God bless him. He showed me a different vanity. I wasn't real thrilled with it, but the man was bending over backwards to please me. I was a repeat customer and here I was going away, and he was unhappy about that and he even said, "I feel like firing her now," and I said, "please don't do that". I don't know what their history is, but it's very strong. He agreed that I could use the fellow that I wanted, he ordered up everything for me, and loaded the tile into my car. I ended up using him and it came out beautiful and I'm happy. It was just that one person. Overall, it came out lovely, the manger couldn't have been nicer to me. It was just her that was not. He was very nice to me. I would give her an "F" and him an "A" so a "C" should balance everything out. They got my tile, so I went and got that, but obviously we had to change out the whole order, which eliminated everything but the tile, but the manager was having none of that and saying, "how about this mirror? Do you want this mirror?" bring the price down. He was almost giving me stuff in the end. I was so embarrassed. He did do a beautiful job. I would probably use them again, but I would request to work with somebody other than that lady. She was wonderful the first time around, nothing but high marks the first time around. It all had to do with this contractor guy.

We were very happy with this remodel! They provided great service and were very helpful when we were picking out our bathroom. The sales rep was knowledgeable and spent a lot of time helping us with every little detail. Most of the items we purchased were available in stock which was great and kept us on our timeline. I was afraid of being overwhelmed by starting this renovation but they definitely made it easy and were great to work with. I could not believe the showroom and all of the different options they had available. We can't wait to go back for when we remodel our kitchen.

let me first say i have used them 3 times int he past. I use to work with frank I think the name was he was the owner. It was when they first opened and he was always busy but took time for me. he did and had nice work done for me. next time a couple years later i wanted corian for my bathroom frank pushed me onto another salesman and things went ok the install was excellent on counter tops very nice same guy from years before did install again for a rental property i had counters done things went well with install once time a couple years ago i called the receptionist was such a well non friendly i got turned off ps this had happened before) so i ended up going somewhere else cause I figured you no what I don't need this from the start. Last week I called again lady answered and I said Hi a few years ago I had counter tops installed and I would like to have more put in. I paused and she said nothing i waited still she said nothing I waited and still nothing. I found this so humorous. Finally I said hello and she said yes. I said well I would like new counter tops she said well who did you work with I said I can't remember the name but use to work with frank I think his name was the owner. She said ok Ill transfer you. I spoke to another lady who was about just as unenthusiastic. I made the call short and said to myself oh well there is another business that got to big for themselves and just have lost the good. So I am moving on to have new quartz counter in my kitchen put in and a new corian like shower enclosure done. Whatever it is what it is I think their work use to be excellent now I can't comment on wok but customer service on several attempts is lacking to say the least.

Before buying then we visited many other vendors, but really liked one particular cabinet they had on display in the showroom and the price was lower than their competitors. Our salesman Mark was was fantastic to work with and really went out of his way to help us select what we needed and provided great service. We've always been happy with the service we received from them, but after only a few short years the cabinets are showing unusual wear in such a short time. Hinges on the cabinet doors have required repair and certain drawers are out of alignment. It's certainly not their fault, and we have never called to complain. Probably just the result of a subpar quality product.

I have received numerous compliments on my bathroom & lavatory renovations. Yes, it was pricey but I am a firm believer that you get what you pay for. I've seen work from a couple of big box stores and could see the difference in the products. NY K & B worked with me when I found a commode that they did not carry; they adjusted the price on their product. I normally do not give reviews, however, after reading some posts I decided to balance the negative comments with my experience. Maybe my experience was due to my contractor's and Chris' collaboration ..........bottom line, I benefited from the experience and that is why I decided to update my downstairs bath too!
Description of Work: The contractor I hired to renovate my upstairs bathroom (take out tub & install large step in shower; install tile in shower and ceramic plank tile on floors; install faucets, adjustable shower head w/bar, grab bars & shower seat) dealt with NY Kitchen & Bath. Christine B. was the designer at NY K & B that I worked with and she as EXCELLENT! Chris' suggestions were invaluable in helping me pick out the items for my renovation. In fact, I had my contractor update my lavatory in September 2014 and again worked with Christine B. to help me pick out finishes. I would work with Christine again if I had another room to update.

I was not happy with this provider. First, is that I have no idea what they charged for anything. While I freely admit that I should have insisted on a detailed invoice, it was all rolled into the contractor's price. The more I think about it, the less happy I am with both this provider and my contractor. Second, they doubled a price without notifying me. I had chosen a countertop that I believe would have cost about $800. They charged $1600 because they needed to buy a whole sheet of the material (I only know this because my contractor told me - apparently, he got bills for materials). I could not believe that they did not contact us before just going ahead with this. In the end, it was the wrong product anyway and I think they got stuck with it. All I know is that I did not pay for it. I guess more than anything, I had the impression that this company was not at all interested in my project. I felt the salesman just wanted me to pick something and get out of there. Since we were buying literally everything for my new bathroom - floor tile, wall tile, tub, sink, vanity, etc., etc. - I was looking for a little more personal attention - at least the illusion that the salesman was excited by my project.

Response from New York Kitchen & Bath
[Members Name], First off, I appreciate your feedback on your recent experience with us. While we are always striving to provide everyone with a great remodeling experience, there are instances where sometimes we do fall short in some areas. In regards to the pricing, the contractor that you selected to perform the work purchased all of the materials for your job from our store. Since they were the ones making the actual purchase of the materials, by law, we are only allowed to discuss specific pricing with them. We do have instances where some contractors will provide customers with a certain material allowance and there are certain product selections that are offered that fit into that allowance. It appears that this may be the situation that you are referring to and this is information that only your contractor can provide you with. As far as the issue with the countertop, I wish that you would have contacted us earlier about how upset you were about your whole remodeling experience. We have invested quite a bit of time and effort into developing a customer service department that does nothing but make sure that everyone has a great experience here at our store. On your particular issue, the countertop that was initially selected from our showroom was a product called Avonite, out of their “Translucent” series. At the time of your order, unknown to us, that particular color that you selected was no longer available. We made several attempts to try and find your original selection, however our supplier could not produce any material that matched the original sample. At the end of the day, I realize that you ended up settling for a product that was a little different than what you originally had wanted, but I want to convey that we did try to do everything that we could in order to rectify the situation and the countertop that you did receive was of a high quality. Unfortunately, sometimes these instances with our suppliers do occur and there are certain situations that are out of our control. Once again, I do apologize for everyone here at New York kitchen & Bath that we were unable to provide you with the best remodeling experience possible. With Apologies Anthony.

Description of Work: Ordered Bathroom Vanity Cabinet and top/sink. Had to follow-up several times to get status of order after 1 month. Had to remind salesperson to have the items delivered. Had to call to find out when the product was being delivered. Order arrived and was delivered with wrong cabinet configuration. Customer service ordered replacement parts. Waited over 1 month (quoted 2 week order turn around to correct order). Sent email to salesperson and received response to contact service departmant becuase it was not her job. Very unprofessional sales person. With several additional kitchen/bath projects on the horizon, I would NOT take my buiness back to this store and would even spend a little more money to go elsewhere.

First and foremost, I would like to take this opportunity and apologize for the bad experience that you had shopping with us on your project. I am fully aware of everything that happened pertaining to your order and frankly I am embarrassed at the way your order was handled by our sales associate. The lack of communication that you received regarding the status of your order is unacceptable. As someone who oversees operations of the Company, I am constantly reiterating to my staff that good communication with customers is extremely important and unfortunately we came up short in that department on your order, and there is no excuse for that. I do know that once this issue came to my attention, our service department worked quickly to make sure that your situation was handled properly. However, that still does not excuse the rest of my staff for the lack of professionalism that they displayed over the course of your order. I sincerely apologize for this experience and if you have any further questions/concerns, do not hesitate to contact me. Regards, Anthony Palma

We decided to remodel/expand our kitchen and had a few ideas of what we wanted. Larry from NY Kitchen and Bath designed a kitchen plan and was more than happy to change it as many times as I changed my mind. We have an older house with a built in pantry that we needed to incorporate into the new design and Larry created a cabinet make over that parallels none. Although we had an architect who designed the new kitchen, Larry added changes that made the area more spacious such as placement of the island, offsetting the fridge with cabinetry, etc. We had a strict budget and Larry offered alternatives to fit within this budget without compromising quality. He personally came out and measured where cabinets were to go and our contractor built window areas, alcoves, etc using his design. We just received the cabinets and they are being installed by our contractor. Everything fits to perfection. Although a little pricey, as the saying goes you get what you pay for. I am completely happy with this product and service from NY Kitchen and Bath.

Mark, our salesman, helped us pick out the cabinets, flooring and counter top. Keeping us within our budget he showed us cabinets that were in our price range. In addition he informed us of a special on granite countertops that was taking place which allowed us to purchase it. His expertise helped us to coordinate the kitchen from the many different styles to choose from. He also made suggestions of a few amenities that we could add to the kitchen (i.e., roll out drawers). It was a nice addition. All during this process we did not feel hurried or pressure to make any decision. In addition,we purchased the sink, faucet and light fixtures there. I would highly recommend them.

I asked for a kitchen update and/or remodel. I waited 2 weeks and then went to the store to meet with the kitchen planner who showed me the exact replica of the same layout I have with nothing innovative or the least bit interesting. I asked him what is the difference between my old kitchen and this "new" design...I was told that the cabinets would be new. I was very disappointed and therefore did not use use him.

I should have shopped around more for estimates. The design for the kitchen had an error in one measurement which was not picked up by my contractor or the salesman which led to a delay in completing the kitchen as work that was already done had to be re-done . I am now satisfied with the end product, but the stress of getting the job done took its toll.

I first visted New York Kitchen and Bath in May with a drawing and dimensions of my existing kitchen. Chris Studer began to work on a design plan and offerred several creative ideas to increase the functionality and storage capacity of my tiny kitchen space. So I decided to continue working with him. He also recommended a few cabinet installers, but I found them expensive and unable or unwilling to completely answer my questions. The planning stage went slowly, but was finally mostly complete by the beginning of August. Chris made every effort to be accommodating, to cover every detail of the project and to find products to fit the needs of the design. He even dropped by the house to deliver a few missing parts and documents. However, a few mistakes were made and details overlooked. One involved his mismeasurement of the space for one cabinet which resulted in the wrong size cabinet being installed. It had to be replaced, causing a delay of more than a month. New York Kitchen and Bath paid for the replacement cabinet but not the extra installation charge. He also forgot to mention that the countertop installer would install the sink but not hook up the plumbing, leaving me without water in the kitchen for 4 days and with another unexpected installation charge.
Description of Work: New York Kitchen and Bath came up with a design for a kitchen remodeling and supplied new cabinets, countertops, sink and faucet. They suggested contractors to do the work, visited my home twice to measure and review the plans, and coordinated with the suppliers of the cabinets and countertops.

Two weeks after I ordered the counters, they arrived and were installed and they looked great. I liked the color I chose and the seam was well hidden. Unfortunately the reveal was all off. On one side it was 1/4", on another it was 1/8" and on another side the reveal was very small. I was paying almost $3,000. and had specifically asked for a tight reveal and this was very bad. I called the company and they gave me every rationale they could think of for the mistake. They didn't make it easy for me to get the problem fixed but eventually they came and took back the long counter to redo the sink. A few days later it was back and it again looked great. This time the sink and the reveal looked good. Then my contractor started to install the tile backsplash but noticed that the hole drilled for the faucet was off and the center of the double bowl sink was off 1/2 to 3/4" from the center of the cabinet doors. At first my contractor called the company twice and spoke to the salesman, but got a lengthy argument why this error was inconsequential. The salesman offered a $150. dollar compensation for the mistake but we declined stating the amount was insulting and we would perfer to talk to Frank the owner. Several request for him to come and check it out were declined. No one from the company returned the call and I had to call again in a few days. Frank, the owner, like the salesman, gave me one argument after another why this was not a big deal, but would do what ever I wanted. I said, take out all of the counters and refund my money and he finally agreed. Two days later Frank called back and said he changed his mind and would not remove the counters but offered a $100. dollar compensation. He actually sent a check for $150. but I did not cash the check and I will return it. I agreed that I didn't want the counters taken out because other than for the measurement errors the counters did look good and I didn't want to go through the lengthy process of ordering another counter from a different company. I am still angry that they didn't respond in a more professional way and and take care of the problem without argument. They also did not compensate me appropriately for their errors. I am now six more weeks behind in completing my kitchen because of dealing with New York Kitchen & Bath and I am still washing dishes in the bathroom sink.
Description of Work: I had planned to remodel my kitchen for two years. I was very meticulous about everything including the cabinets, paint, lights, floor tile and counter tops. I worked with nine counter companies and chose New York Kitchen & Bath because I thought it was a well established and reputable company. From New York Kitchen & Bath I ordered three Corian counters, two small counters and one 10 and a half feet with an undermount stainless steel sink. After checking with his fabricators, per my request, the salesman Chris, assurred me that the reveal, (the amount of the sink seen under the counter) would be 1/8 ". When the guy came out to measure for the counter, I again mentioned that I wanted a tight reveal. I also wanted a single centered hole drilled for the faucet.
