I have had both pleasant and unpleasant dealings with contractors over the years. I was stunned with the honesty and professionalism of Gregg and Ed from this company. They are a class act from start to finish. Their estimate was precise and done timely. Their work began on time each day and the entire job was completed in the agreed upon timeframe. Their workmanship was excellent with great attention given to detail. If I wanted to add something or make a change it was never a problem or an annoyance. Gregg and Ed were courteous, respectful and most of all aimed to please! Everyone of my phone calls and emails was replied to the same day or the next day. They were so meticulous in cleaning up each day that you wouldn't even know there was work going on. Gregg and Ed go above and beyond and I just can't say enough good things about them! If you want a job that's done to perfection hire them and you won't be disappointed!

Skylands Services provided a detailed estimate/work proposal promptly. Of the three estimate/work proposals I got, Skylands Services happened to be the lowest cost, but I chose them to do the work because I preferred their job proposal for a new corner shower. (The other proposals were to build a wall in my small upstairs bathroom to enclose a square shower.) It took a while to get the work scheduled, because they are very busy. Once started, the work was done quickly, carefully and without mess. I'm very pleased with the quality of the job and the attentive service.

To start, their estimate was detailed, competitive, and on target. A few items were adjusted later and price was discussed in advance. There were no unexpected cost surprises. They started the job on time when they were scheduled, they were prompt, professional, good workers who wanted the job to be completed to my satisfaction. Since I am undeniably a perfectionist, that is not an easy task. However, they succeeded in that I am very happy with the results. They also cleaned up at the end of every day. They operate mostly by word of mouth referrals and you will have a wait to get them. But you will have quality work.

They started when they said they would and total project was finished in the prescribed time. They worked consistently and the workers were very careful, pleasant people. They responded to our questions and suggestions. The day to day workers were thoughtful and anticipated our future plans with the patio at the end of the deck. They cleaned up at the end of each day. John Walston was very helpful and cooperative during the process especially with making changes. Excellent work, excellent job, excellent people!

They actually came in where a previous contractor left off complaining about how difficult the soffit work was. They did an excellent job, better than I expected and did it all in two full days. I would hire him back in a snap. I also had additional work that he was not able to get on his schedule and he recommended another contractor who was/is also very good.

From start to finish great experience. I shared my plans for design with Gregg. In turn, he outlined exactly what that would entail regarding demolition and improvement (new moisture barrier walls/sub-floor, etc). He made suggestions regarding a shower wall niche and curved shower rod that I would not have considered. His estimate seemed fair and I planned accordingly. I purchased all the design elements (wall and floor tile, Jacuzzi tub, tub/shower fixtures, light, vanity/sink/faucet, medicine cabinet, new door, shower rod and 2 ceiling fans (one for the other bathroom replacement). As this is a very small master bathroom (approximately 5'x8') there was not a lot of room to work. Yet, they worked neatly and respectfully of my living space, prepping and cleaning up each day. I felt like each day was a new journey, learning about the process and seeing the layers created. At the beginning I learned that the tub faucet backed up to where the sink cabinet was going to be and chose to replace that while it was easy to access. This was incorporated into the plan. At all points I felt that I was not only employing professionals but working with a team to put the pieces of the puzzle of my design together. They finished more than a day and a half early, despite the extra work I added and it's beautiful! The only changes made to the original estimate were in respect to the few additions made, which were fair. I was a little worried about the access to electric and plumbing in my home as it's within sheetrock ceilings in the finished basement. They managed to create new sophet (sp?) for the electric that looks like it's supposed to be there and new access door that is preferable to the one that used to be in the other bathroom, which they patched up/closed for me. Better than before! They worked along with me to incorporate/coordinate other services (pest control for carpenter ants and a Habitat for Humanity pick up) to compliment the process, not hinder it. Due to the precision of work, even in demo I was able to donate the tub, sink cabinet, sink, wall mirror and medicine cabinet. It could not have been easy to remove the tub intact or the mirror - yet it was done without damage. They also had no issue with me participating as I wanted. I painted the walls, trim and new door and am so glad to have been able to participate in that part of the process. At all times I felt comfortable that I was working with them. Given past experience with another contractor this is worth everything to me, especially in regards to honoring the original contracted estimate. The finished product is so beautiful I almost can't believe it's mine! Thank you!

The entire construction process worked out exceptionally well and was completed on time. The Skylands team was curteous, professional, reliable, and demonstrated care, concern, and pride in their work. At the end of each work day, the crew cleaned up and removed debris. The team leader communicated effectively with us and responded in detail to all of our questions.

From initial evaluaiton of the job to the choice of estimates to the scheduling of the work to the fact that they did the entire job essentially in 1 day and were nice people to deal with I have no complaints and would recommend them highly to anyone looking to find a good experience with a contractor.

I had another contractor working in my home. I was very unhappy with him and everything was frustrating - regarding the estimate and actual cost, timeframe, manner in which I was spoken to, lack of communication, everything. This contractor didn't really explore the job but told me I needed a new dishwasher and that I should buy one. He quoted me $1500 (based on previous dealings, would have been more once all was said and done). When I became fed up with the rest of the work done by him I told him I did not want him to do this job and I spoke with John from Skylands. He came within a couple of days and gave me an estimate of $615 and he actually explored the situation!!! I accepted. As they were quite busy it did take a while for them to put me on the schedule and I did contact them a number of times. However, once in my home Gregg removed the old dishwasher and told me that in all likelihood I didn't need a new dishwasher, as it was probably a plumbing issue - which was a question I had asked the previous contractor. However, I already had the new appliance so he removed the old, treated the floor in case there was any lingering mold, shellacked the kickplate on either side of the appliance as there was some rotting (didn't need replacement), installed the dishwasher with all new parts, but then we found that since the counter overhangs more than the norm the controls on top of the door could not be seen if installed as the instructions listed. We discussed a solution and decided upon trim pieces on either side. Gregg picked up the wood, dropped it off and I took care of prep (prime and paint). I also ordered a vent protection material from Maytag to protect the wood under the counter. Gregg returned, cut and installed the trim and the protection material, as well as a bit more of his own. The installation looks like it was always supposed to be that way. I would certainly call them again for any job in my home.

Great from start to finish - from original visit and estimate, to subsequent work perfomed all to our complete satisfaction. Staff are professioanl and courteous, neat and respectful - craftsmanship is of the highest quality.

Pretty seamless, except where the house itself gave us some pause. John was always in communication with us, so we were able to come up with work-arounds that we are happy with. We did have some issues with the supplier of our cabinets but that was not Skylands' fault.
