MATTITUCK GLASS & MIRROR

Provider was three days late for initial visit. Despite being a glass company provider arrived without glass or removal tools. Glass needed to be ordered, taking a full week. When asked for a guarantee that service would be performed within the week was told "you never know" Provider presented himself in an unprofessional manner during our business hours with customers present. Upon returning to complete the job, I was thankful that he went right to work without more BS as I had customers present again. Upon completion, I checked the work and asked for the final bill. Provider left to the truck to write it up. Upon returning with the bill we had some customers taking photos and he said "want to take a picture- take a picture of me trying to get paid by this guy!" Meanwhile, I had the check ready and waiting on his final numbers. When I asked why he would say such a thing, he had no idea what I was talking about. This company clearly has a complete lack of professionalism, is lacking in their core service area and can be toxic in a business environment.

Several years ago we did some remodeling. A recreation area of our home was converted to a guest suite, mainly to provide a nice space for my aging parents when they came to visit. This included completely redoing a bathroom. Our philosophy going into this project was a quality, functional build that would last a long time and always work fine (to the extent possible). To that end, rather than a home store, off the shelf product, we decided to use Mattituck Glass for our shower enclosure. The folks at Mattituck Glass represented that their products were of very high quality and all custom made at their shop in Cutchogue, NY. I want to emphasize that the bathroom where the door was installed is a guest bath and is used, especially the shower, no more then 10 days or so a year. About a week ago, I noticed one of the shower doors was not hanging properly. It turns out that one of the two brackets holding the door on the track had cracked completely into two pieces. I contacted Mattituck Glass to inform them of the problem and figure out some type of resolution. They suggested that if I wanted a replacement, that I come into their shop with the broken bracket where they would provide me with replacement bracket (I'm already not too happy because the shop is about a 25 minute drive from my house). To add a bit of insult to injury, Mattituck Glass charged me $5.00 for the part (now I'm really not happy). There was a manufacturer's name on the bracket so I Googled it. It turns out that despite their claims, Mattituck Glass did not make the door at all. It was manufactured for a company called Quality Enclosures Inc.?, with offices in, NY, FL and GA . I contacted the company. The customer service rep that I spoke with told me that it was not at all uncommon for the brackets that came with my door to break. So much for the high quality product I thought I was getting. As a one time accommodation, they offered to send me two brackets for the cost of postage. I have a couple of major issues with this purchase. First, the product was misrepresented - Mattituck Glass did not make the door, as they claimed. Second, they did not stand behind the product they sold me. Essentially, I paid $1000- for a $300- home center door. At a minimum, one would think that Mattituck Glass would at least replace the bracket at no charge. While discussing this with the owner of Mattituck Glass, he made the comment that home center doors were junk. Well that may be, but I have home center shower doors in two other bathrooms in my home. Both sets of doors are more than 10 years old. The brackets on both sets of doors work perfectly and have never broken. You decide.

THE RESULTS ARE BEAUTIFUL,IT ONLY TOOK A DAY AND A HALF TO DO THE WORK AND IT WAS DONE IN SECTIONS SO OUR ABILITY TO USE THE KITCHEN WAS NOT DISRUPTED DURING THE PROCESS.
