I hired Andy to inspect 2 separate houses I was interested in purchasing. Being a first time home buyer, I was very cautious and had a lot to learn about home maintenance, repair and what to look out for. Andy did a great job. I was very lucky to find Andrew Shapley from Poseidon Inspections to inspect a co-op apartment that I was reviewing for purchase. Apartment inspections are not done as routinely as home inspections, but if Andy is your inspector, there's no way you'll regret choosing to have an inspection done. It's well worth the money. A couple of small and seemingly insignificant problems can cost you way more than you'll pay for an inspection. Perhaps more importantly, if you're curious, you'll learn a lot about how your apartment works, how it's put together, the approximate age of everything inside and outside, and give you ideas of what to fix or upgrade first to improve your quality of life and keep your family safe. I spoke with three other inspectors over the phone about their services and found Andy to be the easiest to talk to – a good quality for an inspector to have. His explanation of the process was thorough yet efficient, and he communicated extremely clearly. Best of all his rates were great, he didn't try to charge me for services I didn't need (as another inspector did), and he was able to make an appointment for the next day. Fantastic. Andy showed up to our appointment early and got started right away. I am a huge geek and love to know how everything works. Andy was willing to go into as much detail as I liked, or was able to use simple descriptions to help me through things I knew nothing about. If you have the patience and are even slightly curious, ask Andy lots of questions. He has a wealth of knowledge and is a great teacher. I was with a family member who has owned many properties that she's renovated herself, and she said he was the most thorough inspector she had ever seen. That said, the entire process took about an hour and twenty five minutes, so Andy can get a lot done in a short period of time. In that time he found a few little issues that will need to be fixed, and a few larger issues. He estimated a timeline for failure rates for those issues and addressed problems in a way that was serious but not alarmist. His insight and guidance are invaluable and I recommend his services very highly, especially for the price.

My wife and I cannot express enough gratitude to Andy Shapley for providing an urgently needed home inspection and radon testing. Andy's encyclopedic and mastery knowledge of all the trades and systems that encompass a home is extraordinary. With an impending snowstorm being forecast on the original appointed day that would have blanketed many exterior building and ground elements, Andy cheerfully rearranged his schedule to an earlier day. Andy arrived early morning and requested that my wife and I accompany him throughout the entire five (5) hour comprehensive process. It was quite a positive learning experience. Of course, Andy followed through on his promise to email us the formalized report in two days and in turn we purchased the home. Andy's fee was very reasonable too. If you are within Andy's service area do not consider any other company. If you are not in his service area beg him to make an exception!

Andy was incredibly thorough. He got to the house 45 minutes before schedule to make sure he'd walked around and had had a look at the outside before I even showed up. Andy's report is very complete, has good pictures, and walks through the entitrety of the house. He was very willing to explain the way all the systems worked and give me a sense of what really needed to be done on day 1. Andy is very professional, explains everything he's doing, and gives a buyer real peace of mind when buying. I would recommend him to anyone looking to buy a house, the last thing you want is an unexpected issue.

This is the second time I have used Andy Shapely at Poseidon to inspect a home I was looking to purchase and I will never us anyone else. If you are looking for a home inspector there is no need to look elsewhere. He spent 6 hours doing the most thorough and detailed inspection and explained what he was finding to me every step of the way. Not only that, when he heard that I had to get into contract immediately because of a bidding war on the property, he actually dropped everything and did it on Labor Day for me. He is worth every penny and then some!
