 + -1 moreWe interviewed 5 painting companies for this job (including another painter, also on Angie's list). Estimates, for the same job, ranged from Joe's $8000 to a high of $20,000 (the other painter)! Joe did the best job of answering my many questions, seemed the most professionally knowledgeable, and even volunteered ideas to improve the longevity of the job that others never mentioned. He was the only painter other than the one other painter, to agree to using MY selected paint brand (Pratt and Lambert, with excellent longevity according to CU), instead of what he could get the best discount on. He started earlier than expected and worked extensively with us to insure our satisfaction about color. Workers arrived by 7:00 am and worked hard all day, cleaning up each time before leaving. The final job looks excellent, and we have already arranged to have him do some interior work for us. His ability to do carpentry, sheet rocking, tiling, etc. in addition to painting is a big plus.
Description of Work: Joe power washed the exterior of our house, treated it for mildew, sanded all surfaces (previously stained), added some needed louver vents, applied one coat of our chosen paint, filled in all holes, and then applied the final coat of paint. He also did likewise for our deck and gave it two coats of stain. All paint or stain was applied with brushes or rollers, not spray. In addition, he replaced some poor wood on a deck railing and strengthened the whole railing (this was at extra cost beyond the painting).
