I contacted E&V to do a yearly boiler maintenance. They arrived on time and were very professional. They noticed an issue with my boiler and asked if they could come later back with a part to fix it and do the yearly maintenance then instead; noting that the part might be expensive but it would be extremely quick (~15 min) to change. They did not say anything about extra charges for coming back or diagnosing as they didn't touch anything and were in the house for about 5 minutes. They then responded with a labor and parts quote a few days later with ~2 hours of labor! That's 6 times longer than what the tech told me it would take! The person on the phone provided no explanation of why the labor increased so much from the visit to the quote. I said that for that price I'd rather buy the part and install it myself but requested a new time for the original maintenance appointment. That same day they put a bill in the mail for me to pay for a $100 "diagnostic/trip charge" and noted the work performed as "annual tune-up" I called to ask about the charge wondering why it was never explained to me that I would be charged if they returned and they provided no explanation even after noting the work performed was completely out of thin air and never done (Again, they never touched the boiler). They knew they were in the wrong and offered $20 off of the $100 bill with no further help. They noted that if I didn't pay it would be sent to collections. I'll keep this post updated on the resolution, hopefully E&V will make it right. Please do yourself a favor and explore better HVAC options. I would've rather paid more money to a better company to not have to deal with them. Short version: Multiplied labor charges by 6x with no explanation why and back charged for services not rendered after the fact.

Description of Work: We recently had a Mitsubishi Mini-Split installed in our home by E&V Energy. We couldn't be more pleased with the performance of this company from start to finish. We initially met with Rich who was very knowledgeable and delivered the important information about the product and the company without an annoying "sales pitch." He took measurements, answered our questions, gave us alternatives and explained costs. We decided to proceed with E&V Energy, set up an installation date and when the day arrived with met Dan and Mike (they also had a trainee with them who helped out). We still had some questions about placement of the indoor and outdoor units, as well as some wiring issues to address. Dan and Mike were very helpful in answering questions and working with us to determine the best location for the units. The path for the wiring was tricky and hooking up to a mostly full breaker box was a problem. We were able to work with them in problem solving these issues, and the outcome was very satisfactory. They were efficient, easy to work with and cleaned up after finishing their work. | Our initial decision to select E&V Energy for the job was based on the fact that their price was more than $1,000 below another estimate for exactly the same product and the warranty period was an additional year. We know we made the right decision and would highly recommend E&V Energy. |

The men who came to do the work spent several hours in the basement and then left. After they left we noticed an irritating odor whenever the furnace came on, which I thought might just have been new parts being heated for the first time, but the odor remained. We developed headaches, mild nausea, and tiredness. I called the company back. The man who came said he checked the furnace out, it didn't seem to be drafting properly and he thought that we needed to call a chimney sweep and have our chimney cleaned. Instead I called a friend who is a handyman and also works on furnaces. When he came, he showed me the areas of concern-- the furnace had never been vacuumed out and was filthy inside, the seal around the door had not been replaced and was letting in air and letting out enough flame to burn one of the labels off the door itself, and finally the exhause pipe from the back of the furnace to the chimney had been left sitting propped on the top of the flange for the pipe to attach to, never hooked up. All the exhaust from the furnace was being expelled inot the basement and house. I paid the gentleman who found the problems and took the photos of them to redo all the work that E and V had supposedly done and do it properly. The nasty odor went away, and our new carbon monoxide detector did not detect any more carbon monoxide. I want to say that I took my pictures and my complaints and went to E and V and talked to one of the owners. He kept copies of the pictures, and he not only refunded my money to them but also paid the cost of having the job done the second time by my friend. At that point I was satisfied in general, but my insecurities about the reliability of the staff at E and V remain. Not only was one person guilty of leaving the exhaust pipe disconnected, but the person who came to check out the problem totally overlooked that situation also. In the winter you're going to run your furnace if you are told that it is fine and has just been fixed. I consider that I was fortunate to have someone I could call to check the situation out. What if I had just been another old lady assuming everything was all right? If I had left the funace on and gone to bed, would I have died of carbon monoxide poisoning? I think I would feel better knowing that the men who actually came and were involved in this situation actually were fired from their jobs for lack of knowledge and poor work ethics. to impress on them the gravity of the situation they caused.. They did not appear to me to be overly concerned about any of this. Needless to say, I do not want any of them working on a furnace of mine again; I had a new gas furnace installed the following fall and have had no problem with it to date. It was installed by Fire Hoke Heating and Air Conditioning out of the Syracuse area; they were very efficient and the furnace is working well and much less expensively than the oil one did.. e e
Description of Work: He was supposed to clean out the inside of the furnace and replace the working inner parts.

He was great! He basically told me that the furnace that I got was too old and inefficient, so he replaced it. He gave me a good and competitive price. The guy gave me the quote on the spot. I would absolutely use him again in the future. He was recommended by two or three of my friends.

We have used E and V for our oil delivery and cleaning for the past 4 years or so, and the people who have come to our house have consistently been great. They are knowledgeable and nice, always working to help us save some money and keep our old furnace alive for one more season. When our furnace finally failed, we didn't hesitate to ask them to install our new one, and we are glad we did. A representative came to the house, consulted with us, took lots of measurements and stats to help figure out what size and type of furnace would be best for our house, and really took his time with us. He helped with financing, it was just an easy and pleasant experience. The team that came to install the furnace was top notch; they finished the whole project by early afternoon, and left the space totally clean, better than it was when they arrived! They took the time to explain how best to use the new thermostat, and walked us through all the work that they had done. A week or so later, I got a nice letter and gift from the president of E and V thanking us for giving them our business. A small gesture, but it somehow meant a lot. I didn't think companies like this existed anymore! Old fashioned customer service from people who really know their jobs and genuinely care about keeping you warm and saving you money. What a great organization. Thanks E and V!

Overall the experience with them was good and we would use them again for any other work needed. We had some trouble over the years in keeping the delivery truck from going over a smaller driveway that would get them a little closer to the propane tank, even though it is not a long pull to the tank from the regular driveway. When we called into the office they were great to deal with and did pass it on to the driver in a good way.
Description of Work: They supplied a 320 gallon propane tank, checked the various equipment we are using, and did a leak test. The tech was thorough and did a good job. After the first season they wanted to charge us more per gallon since we didn't use as much propane as they needed to cover the costs of the Tank and regulators. Thank fully they were willing to sell us the tank and regulators from monies we had paid ahead on our budget and now we still get the lowest price on propane. They have been pretty good to deal with and have done all that we asked, although that hasn't been much since we don't use much propane.

In February they put the furnace on a one night rest. It was a night when no one should have been out. But they came. Since we had a service agreement with them we did not had to wait till morning or anything. They got here at 1 o'clock and fixed it. It was snowing and blowing cold and they were cheerful when they got here. They did not make me guilty for calling them over. Since I had a service agreement with them I did not have to pay anything. We pay a monthly fee which is cut from the annual payment. Quite honestly if we are getting oil or getting propane, there is another main provider in our area and their prices are much higher, so anybody going with E and V Energy Corp will benefit. We are in the rural area and we do not have natural gas so we have to have propane or oil heating or whatever you are going to do for your heat so anybody in that type of a situation will benefit. They can save money by going with them and live without going with the other provider. I will continue to use their services in the future. We were with another provider for a long time but with the recommendation of our neighbors we switched. We are trying to compare rates. A couple of years ago it was shown on TV showing the difference in cost between the propane cost and the heating oil cost. The other provider would give you a discount in the first delivery of oil when we sign up with them. But then their rates go right up to their regular rates which are higher than other people's rates. So it made sense to make the switch. E and V Energy Corp is trying to make a name for themselves and I think they are very good.
Description of Work: I use E & V Energy Corp. for heating and air conditioning. We get our heating oil and propane from them. In August they did the cleaning of the furnace.
