We have used his services when we purchased a house in Clifton Park, NY. He did a fantastic job. We now live in Granville, NY and needed several tree and stumps removed. We received a quote and agreed upon price (to be paid in full in CASH). We never received ETA on when he was planning on coming out to do the job (so we can prepare to get the cash out of the bank). He left our conversation at “It’s best to get it completed before the leaves come, as it’s easier”. Called several times and get a voicemail (to get ETA). No follow up from them. I finally get his wife/receptionist on the phone. She told me she handed my file with him that day and he will call us with ETA. Nothing and it’s been about a week from that conversation. Now for perspective, we hired him almost two months ago! The lack of communication and frustration lead me to find someone else that could do the job. It’s good to know he’s just that busy and doesn’t need the cash and our business. Quite honestly, I’m happy for him and wish him the best.

Description of Work: Butch's tree service came to the house to give me a quote to take down 2 fairly large trees on my property in the late fall of 2013. He and his crew were there when they said they would be and cut the trees down, but he also informed me that his stumpgrinder wasn't working at that time and that as soon as it was working that he would be back to grind both stumps for $100. Spring arrived and I still hadn't heard from Butch or his secretary yet, so I called them back to see when we could get the stumps ground down. Long story short, I was told it was still not working, and a few follow up calls over the next few months weren't answered or calls weren't returned. At one point I called from a different phone and my call was answered and it was explained to me that the grinder had begun working again, but was again broken and Butch was contracting out his stump grinding, but hadn't found anyone that would do my job for the $100 price that he had promised. In the end, Butch never did grind my stumps and I had to find someone else to grind them at a higher price. Bottom line, Butch's tree service is going to give you the best price, but make sure that the whole job gets done the first time, because good luck following up with them later or getting them to return/answer your calls.

The work was done when it was scheduled. I was provided with a contract and copies of insurance The property was left in excellent condition. The crew removed trees without damage to surrounding property.
Description of Work: Four large pine trees were cut down, cut up, removed, branches shredded and left as requested. The area was raked clean. The stumps were cut almost to the ground. A large dead tree was cut down. Other old wood was disposed of. Butch arrived with an estimate which made me feel I did not need another estimate. He and his crew arrived on schedule and worked in an organized way without stopping until the job was done. Butch provided me with copies of his insurance and workers compensation. I could not have been more pleased with the work done

Five men showed up and worked for over 10 hours straight, well into darkness to complete the job and ensure the yard was completely raked and looking as they found it. Their tree climber was amazing to watch and more entertaining than watching a bucket truck and/or crane. They did tree servicing the old fashioned way by using ropes and harnesses and made it look easy. The price was unbeatable and was easily $3,000 - $4,000 less than some of the other estimates we had gotten and we got about 6 other estimates. Their equipment and techniques are a little rough around the edges, but they work hard to get the job done and don't stop until it's completely finished and cleaned up. They also provided all the paperwork regarding their worker's comp coverage and insurance coverage along with the written contract. Overall, money well spent and we'd use them again in the future.
Description of Work: We hired them to trim several trees, cut down 8 large trees and grind down about a dozen stumps.
