I am a fool for believing in anything that an employee of this company tries to sell. "Justin" performed an inspection, and advised that I needed two caps. He said other companies would charge over $200+, but said he could offer much cheaper and would "clean" my chimney for free if I went with him. I needed caps and a cleaning anyway, so decided to go for it. He installed two used caps, and a few hours after he left the caps fell off due to some wind. I tried calling, and no answer. I will be filing a report shortly with the proper authorities, as I felt this was a scam rather than poor service. Please be aware of this company and this person.

Proving "you get what you pay for". STAY AWAY FROM THESE PEOPLE! We have been in our home for less than a year, and have never dealt with or needed a 'chimney sweep' before. This company called me and said they had a promotion going - for $40 they would come out and clean out the flues for winter. I asked her to direct me to their website (to make sure they were on the level), where I discovered a $5 off coupon. (http://proenergymaintenance.webs.com/) This is a 'free' website, which should have said something, but having owned my own small business in the past, I didn't want to be judgmental. I set up an appointment for Wednesday between 10-12, but that morning my roof was still damp from rain the night before. At 11:20 I called to find out when they would be here, and was told "20-30 minutes". At 12:45 they finally showed up. The guy got out of the van, no apology for being late - when I said I was wondering if they were coming since my appt was from 10-12, he said "yeah, we got stuck at another job." (I find this hard to believe because when my work FINALLY got done, it took 20 minutes). He looked at my roof and said, since it was damp, we should reschedule. I foolishly agreed - though this is proof of their complete unprofessionalism, as you'll see - and rescheduled for the next day from 11-1 p.m. At 8:30 the next morning I called to reschedule AGAIN, since it was raining. Sean, the guy who usually answered, said not to worry about it. "We've got equipment for this, the guys do this all the time - their used to working in the rain." Uh-huh. I asked him why his own employee didn't want to go on my damp roof the day before, if they do it all the time? And besides, "I" didn't want someone on my wet roof - insurance or otherwise", not a risk I wanted. He actually argued with me that it would be fine - they did this all the time. Sean wasn't listening to me at all as a customer, and when I finally got my point across, he was going to end the call without rescheduling. I told him I wanted to do so now - why have to make yet another call! So the appt was set for 12-2 on the following Tuesday. At about 11:00 on the rainy Thursday, I get a call from the woman in the call center, letting me know the guys are on their way. "No, I rescheduled that appt this morning - it's pouring out here. I talked to Sean." She actually was frustrated with me, and hung up without confirming my rescheduled appt! So Tues. arrives, and I call around 9:00 to verify my appt. Sean answers, and says I have no appt. Then he proceeds to argue with me about whether or not I spoke to him! He finally says, "well lets just set you up for an appt today." And guess what... around 11:30 the woman from the call center calls back... they have to reschedule me for a second time. I said, "no, that's the third time! Is this for real? Do you guys really do this work? Because it seems like your just jerking me around." At which point she offered to take $5 off the service for my troubles. Down to $30. SO not worth it... FINALLY. The next day, Wednesday, I get a call around 11:15 saying they're on their way. (The appt is from 10-12 p.m.) Noon passes. So does 12:30. At a little before 1:00 p.m., over an HOUR late, and almost 2 hours after I was told they'd "be there soon", they deign to show up. The guy who comes in has an attitude; Carlos, I believe. I offer him some water or anything to drink - standard practice for me - and he says no, he just needs to see the furnace. I show him the basement, he starts his work, and sees theres a bunch of crap to clean out. "Looks like something nested in here." So I offer him MY garbage can I keep in the basement, so he has a place to put the debris. I go back out to their work van to talk to the other guy about getting on the roof. He says his name is Damien, and he needs to wait to hear from his partner about what their going to do. In the meantime we walk around the outside to find a place for him to access the roof, he accepts a glass of ice water, and we chat a little. He is the ONLY part of this company worthwhile! About 10 minutes go by, Carlos finds me in the kitchen, and says he's all finished - they did a reverse sweep from the basement, because they didn't want to get up on the roof. WHAT!?!?!? I said, "so why did I reschedule this appointment THREE TIMES, when no one needed to get up on my roof to do this work?" (I didn't yell at him - but I was clearly frustrated). So I hand him the gift certificate for $5 (which he's never seen and scrutinizes for a full minute, before finally saying, "yeah - okay, I guess we take these.") It was from THEIR website! Jerk. And I told him about the other $5 off for all the rescheduling, and he sighs and shakes his head at that too. Oh - and for the IRS' information - I'm pretty sure that something funny is going on when they say to customers, "It's $30 for cash, but if you right a check I have to add in taxes." Uh-huh. So.... cash just doesn't get filed the same, huh? Finally I asked him to look at the fireplace/chimney (see above). It was very clear that it wasn't 'financially' worth his time. In other words, he wasn't making enough money off me to bother with what he was supposed to do. And he did act like a jerk the whole time. But you need proof, you say? HOW ABOUT THIS... An hour later I went to my basement to change out laundry, and that JERK did NOT empty my garbage - he didn't even bother to put it back! AND one of his nasty gloves he'd used to clean out the flue was just tossed on the floor by my washer. AHHHHH! Worst of all, I took time out for THREE appointments because of the rain... and THEY NEVER HAD TO GET ON MY ROOF TO DO THE WORK! They should have paid me for the time off I'd taken by the time this was all done. Lazy and useless. These people - this 'company', and I use the term in its loosest sense possible - have NO respect for the customer, their home, or any business ethics whatsoever. Their rude, inconsiderate, and pigs. He didn't even do his job! Because part of that job is cleaning up after himself - my 10 year old does that! ABSOLUTELY THE WORST.
Description of Work: I marked N/A for price, because they could have worked for free - and should have - and it still wouldn't have been a good value! Did a 'reverse clean' of my furnace flue, from in the basement. Pulled out all the accumulated leaves, etc.; it had been a while since the service was performed. I assume they did some kind of vacuuming thing - the guy never told me what he was going to do or went over the service with me, he just came back upstairs, told me he'd finished and asked for payment. I had been told they would also check the fireplace - it had been sealed off (with a heavy plastic insert, screwed into place) - we wanted someone to tell us why, and how much it would be to get it operational again. He looked at it and told me "it's been sealed off". (duh) I said we knew that, I'd been told he'd look at it and give us an estimate for repairing it. He replied he didn't know why anyone told me that, but no, it's not worth his time. "Not to sound like a jerk, but - I wouldn't do that. It's not worth my time to look at it." I had been told that this was part of the service, and not only would the rep provide me with an estimate, but sometimes they could finish the work that day. Wow - and he WAS a jerk. Read on...
