Had a roof leak, that was below a skylight. The old skylight had previously leaked and a new roof and skylight had been installed. When I got into my attic, I noticed that the leak was still happening - tho it had gone unnoticed for a while. The roofer that had done this work had moved out of state and was no longer in business. Enter Mr Bates - who came over - looked at the roof and told me "it must be the skylight and arranged to install a sheathing type of rubberized material around the slylight, then replace the needed roof shingles as needed. I asked if he was going to lift any shingles to check for rusty nail heads to ensure that he was correcting the problem, and he told me it wasn't necessary - he was sure that it was the skylight. Well he did what he said he would, and then we had a dry spell without any rain. The next time it rained heavily, the leak appeared again in several spots in the attic. I called him and left a message. He did come back several days later and added some caulking to the skylight perimeter as well as a vent pipe that was below the skylight. Next rain, it was leaking again so I called him back again. Several days later, he called back and I was not home, but he spoke to my wife - about setting up an appointment to "get on the roof with a hose" - he agreed to call me back the following Tuesday or Wednesday - it never happened. I called him again and left another message for him to call me but he hasn't as of yet ( two weeks plus have gone by). He had also added some "L" shaped siding pieces above the skylights to deflect water away from the skylight itself, but they have not helped at all. At this point I have to consider the money I paid him a waste of time and need to go about finding another roofer who will actually fix the problem.
