We went to work as advised. When we came back we found a worker had fallen through our ceiling. They promised to patch the ceiling, which they did. The ceiling repair was acceptable AND they had the ceiling painted - all at their expense. This past winter, 17 years since the installation, we had an ice dam on our roof. We called, but could not get in touch with Model A . We called another roofer who handled the ice dam and told us the roof should be looked at. We waited until summer and called the original company, Model A. The new owner of the company told us large sections of the roof needed to be replaced. The roofing material was not in great shape, but the major concern was the plywood under the shingles.. The fact the roof only lasted 17 years was our problem. He did not know why it only lasted 17 years, but his labor warranty was only good for 10 years. He gave me the phone number of the shingle company and told me to call them. I didn't. The shingles were starting to curl but the real problem was the plywood underneath was starting to go. He admitted his company had replaced 22 boards. He didn't know why so many boards appeared to be weak after only 17 years, but again that was my problem. Model A told me the standards were different when the roof was installed. They weren't using ice shields or ridge vents. That as far as he was concerned the roof had been installed correctly. Obviously, given my poor experience with this roof I wasn't going to be using their services again.
Description of Work: All the shingles on my roof were to be replaced. They also were to replace the skylight in the bathroom.

They were excellent and professional. They did a beautiful job on my old house and the addition. They even came back one year later after my chimney was fixed and re-did the copper work around it. They used copper for my chimney and in the valleys of my roof. They are easy to work with and were fast and efficient. I would use them again. My house is 4500 sq. ft. and I think $10,000 was worth it, given that other companies quoted me much higher prices. The edges were done nicely and everything was done even and to perfection. The roof on my entire house is continuous looking and beautiful. I have a complex roof, with a lean-to and three gables. Please realize that the price of $10,000 was for a job done in 2002. I just joined Angie's and this is one company I felt I had to highly recommend. Another roofing company actually recommended Model A, because they were booked up and couldn't do my roof. 9 years later, my roof looks brand new. No problems. No leaks.
Description of Work: I had an addition added onto my 200 year old house. I had the old roof ripped off my existing house . They put new wood on my old house, that had never existed before, since there were wood shakes on the house and slats. They put on 40 year architectural roofing that has a wood shake look to it on my old house and the addition.
