Decks Unique Inc

I originally wrote this review with a low grade because of non-responsiveness. After receiving a call from the company about my review, I was told that they had responded but realized that their email of the deck plan was in my Spam folder. The plan was simple and complete.

If I ever construct or resurface a deck in the future, this is the company I'll hire. We put our project on hold while we finished a landscape remodel, which included deck resurfacing. This is the only reason we didn't hire DU. Had we, it would've been done much faster. These folks are pros who worked hard to offer a terrific solution for our outdoor space, including patience with our request for several revisions. Because of that I felt they deserved a review. These guys are the real deal.

the only thing i did not like was when i called to make the iinitial appointment for an estimate the man said they would only make it when my husband was home.. that really botherd me and i told him to forget it. Then he said he would do it. so i made the appointment thinking i would never use them but i wanted to have another estimate. the sales person came ontime and once i let him in my house i asked if he was the person that i spoke to on the phone. he said he wasnt and i said i didnt think so. he didnt look like the type that would say something so insensitive. I wanted a trex transcend deck. he measurd gave me a price and I told him i got a lower price which he matched. Anyway, to makeup for the bad impression from the phone guy, he was giving me clips instead of nails for the deck construction. He drew up plans, which we altered three times. He was very patient. Our deck had to be appoved by our hoa. they installed a 12 ft x37 ft trex transcend deck with a 12 ft x6 ft platform/step. they arrived around 7:30AM worked till 1 PM when the job was finished. cleaned everthing up We paid by check and enjoyed the deck that evening. It all went very smoothly, no glitches. their pice was inline with oher estimates. All the workmen were very nice and polite.

Decks Unique did a great job! Their rep Scott and I planned the work and they did the rest. They are responsive and willing to listen to your ideas for the job. Their work is great. Love my new deck!

The salesman came to the house twice. Once to help me decide if my plan would work, and the second time when the pool was installed to take more exact measurements. Both visits he produced some computer sketches to help me visualize what things would look like. He was prompt, courteous and professional. The crew arrived right on time and finished within one day. The deck looks great and was exactly what they had sketched. I would definitely recommend. Only con was that I felt it was pricey. I probably could have gotten a cheaper deck by $1,000 even, but the no hassle was worth it to me.

Lou came out on a Thursday and we contracted to have the old deck knocked down and a new one installed. He said it would be about 6 weeks before he could do the work. I told him my daughter was ill and would be receiving treatment all summer., and if he had a cancellation and could do it sooner we would appreciate it. One week later, his men showed up at 7 am, knocked down the old deck and carted it away, and by 4 pm, a beautiful new deck was in place. Our daughter came home from the hospital that evening and had tears in her eyes when she saw the beautiful new deck ! The work crew was very professional, and did an amazing job. Thankyou Lou and your crew....you made a very sick girl very happy !! ,

Our existing large wood deck was removed (including foundation) and replaced with Ipe hardwood. (We preferred real wood over the composites, and needed a very hard wood to stop the carpenter bees from damaging the deck). The Ipe wood was stained as requested and two sets of stairs were installed. The deck was fully skirted and two doors were installed for access to storage (kayak and ladders) under the deck. Decks Unique did a terrific job. The deck looks great. All work including the estimate were completed in a timely manner and all workers were professional and friendly. We are very pleased and do recommend them. We would use them again.

The presentation was very professional. He came with a laptop that gave a short promo about the company as well as a portfolio of jobs they had completed. He came with samples of all the products which was great so we could see and compare products and colors. He gave us a few days to think about the estimate. We interviewed two other companies and elimated this one for two reasons - the first being his price was significantly higher than the company we chose, and the other was that he was going to nail the hidden brackets into the framing, rather than screw them in. When asked for them to be screwed in, he wanted to charge us an additional fee.

I was really impressed by them. They were polite and courteous and actually finished the entire project in 1 day! When they were done, everything was clean and they even put my patio table and chairs back. We have a very nice experience with Decks Unique Inc.

Old deck was removed and new deck was installed in one day. They sent a crew of 5 workers. Excellent service from the sales rep. to the installers. We love our new deck!

They gave me a quote, but I did not use their services. This was prior to hurricane sandy. I decided not to use them as they were out-bid by another company. I found a company that offered me a price that was significantly less.

Decks Unique Inc's work came out very well. We won part of it in a contest they gave. They were very professional and they did a very nice job. They have a very nice showroom and all in all it was a very good experience. They suggested the trellis and it came out very nice. I am doing a deck project with them now and their price seem higher than other quotes we got.

It went very well and it was a good experience. Nick that runs the company is a very friendly guy and it was pleasant experience working with him. There were some things we didn’t like about the decks and they have been very busy since the floods, but they came in and fixed the things we asked for. They haven’t collected all of their money as of yet from us. I didn’t get other prices so I wouldn’t know how to rate their price. So far, the quality of work has been very good. They are going to be working on our basement next.

They postponed the work a couple of times, but when they did come they did a job that looked good at first. But after a couple of months, some of the boards started to warp (cup) and one popped up from its nails. I contacted the company, and they told me it was my fault for not having the deck sealed right away, or as soon as the weather warmed up. I don't recall them telling me this earlier, or offering this service. I asked if they could come by and look at it, and they told me they would stop by when someone was working in my area. This was about a month ago, and no one showed up or called. I don't want them to come by now, as I renailed the boards that were warping myself, and have stained the deck. I also looked closer at the workmanship as I stained the deck and I would say it was no more than average -- some boards are nailed really close to those next to them, and some joints are quite wide. The edge of one area is also not straight.

From start to finish this company was Class A. The first phone call I made to them left me with a good impression. They were quick with scheduling an estimate which turned out to be a full on presentation and consultation. Not just one of these guys who comes in with a tape measure and blurts out a price. Jason explained the products they had available and pros and cons of each and ran estimates for all of the products we where interested in. He took his time with explaining the process including the way they build the base with heavy metal posts surrounded with concrete also using hurricane straps. We opted to use premium railing spindles and the deck came out beautifully. Not to mention the extra care they took building the steps and even sanding down edges. The wood used didn't look like the home depot pressure treated wood. It seemed less green which we liked because we will be staining the deck and this will help with keeping the color true. All in all we are more that pleased. They set a date (provided weather cooperated, and it did), they set a time and were at my home as scheduled and rolled out of the truck already working; Quickly, organized and professional. Everyone there had a job and knew how to do it well. I will use this company again when the pine needs to be replaced.

Purchased an angies big deal to have a 3d rendering deck design created. The rep showed up on time, took measurements, asked questions about our preferences, and providing a few renderings and an estimate to install the deck.

The project was delayed due to Storm Sandy and other winter storms but in the end everything worked out fine.

The salesman (Scott) was very professional, personable and punctual. Workers were the same. Entire job was done in 2 days. The only problem we had was there were a few steps that had bad miter cuts. We called and they blew us off for a few months. They eventually repaired and we are very satisfied with the work. Had they repaired the steps in a timely fashion I would have given them way higher marks. I understand how busy they are and that the repair was minor but it's the little things that count in how satisfied a customer is and as far as I'm concerned they missed the opportunity to have a completely satisfied customer.

Not only did Decks Unique build us a beautiful custom ipe deck, they did it in less than 10 days! We had stressed our need for a quick turn-around on a very large project, and Lou Pagnutti and his team made it happen. They were highly professional and courteous, and their workmanship was top notch, especially given how quickly they got everything done. We can't recommend Decks Unique enough!

Anytime we had a question, Joe was right there with a call back within minutes. He is concerned, helpful and stayed with us through completion of the project. When the crew left, we didn't have one item on our punch list. And, we got a follow up call and visit from Joe.HIghly recommended.

Representative came after work hours to survey the site and listen to what we wanted. Very professional and informative. Gave us a quote for three different types of materials and offered a number of options. Quote, by far, was the most reasonable. Guys arrived early and fully prepared. Removing the deck and installation was scheduled for two days, but they finished in one. Throughout the whole process, their foremen, Lou and Pedro, kept me informed of any problems and would routinely offer advice as to what would look best. The entire crew were completely professional and polite. Even after they had finished, there was a problem with one of the stairs because I thought it was too high. They genuinely cared about my concerns and were able to add another stair t the deck. Overall, I would highly recommend this company to EVERYONE!! They did a beautiful job and our deck looks fantastic!!!!!

Before I signed on to Annie's List, I had hired another deck repair company and subsequently fired them for their shoddy work and lack of professionalism. Decks Unique was the polar opposite - on time, on budget, professional and meticulous. I recommend them without hesitation.

I found them on Angie's List and they did an excellent job. I really was very satisfied with them and I would recommend them. The price was where it was supposed to be. The quality of service was unbelievable. They were very good. Initially when they gave me the estimate they said it would take a few weeks to do it. They also said if they get hit with bad weather since they were doing the work outdoors it could slide a little bit. They kept me advised of when that would be so I didn't have any problem. I would use them again in the future without a doubt and I would recommend them to close friends and family.
