They were good. They were honest. Their price was good. They did good work that came out great. The people that came out were very good.

At the time of the estimate, I sat down with the contractor and discussed the various options for our deck. He gave me a price which was right in the middle of the estimates I had already received. After we met, my wife and I decided we wanted to expand the deck plan. He came back promptly and modified the estimate. It was still below some of the other estimate we had received for a smaller deck. We went with Trex. We replaced the railing and gate with a new railing. We picked a start date two months out because we were going to be away for a lot of the summer. We had a few weather issues, but we got started within a week of the original start date. The work was done in one day and the deck looked wonderful. The cleanup was perfect. We are very pleased with Decks Unique and would use them again.

Decks Unique promised specific decks and materials, at a specific price, with a specific time-frame estimate of work start and completion, and they met every one of these promises exactly. Whenever they said they would do something they did it with no prodding. Their arrival at work in the AM, 7.30 AM to be precise, was like a Swiss clock every morning for the week they were here. They work efficiently, quickly, and leave zero mess or clean up work for you at all. They do all their demolition work the first day on the job, and the debris and mess is gone in total at the end of day one. The owner of the company, Louis Pagnutti, was on the job every AM with his guys working - not talking. He stayed every day for a half day to make sure everything was spinning like a top before going back to his office. After he would leave, the crew left behind continued the same fine work and good pace. It did not slack off even a bit in effort or result when the boss left. I do not recall the last time that I have used any vendor on Long Island, for any purpose, that was as responsive, punctual, professional and efficient as Decks Unique. It was a shockingly refreshing experience, for which I thank Angie's List since I found Decks Unique by looking on this website.

It went great. The office/showroom is very nice and has samples of all of the materials available. Floors are done in decking materials inside and out so you can really see how each color and type of decking material will look. Unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond our control we decided not to do redo our deck at this time. Decks Unique was kind enough to refund our deposit even though we were beyond the cancel date. I would definitely recommend decks unique based on their kindness and professionalism. If we do decide to do our deck again, they will certainly get our business.

My deck failed inspection after having a new railing installed. I called Decks Unique back to make one change in order to pass inspection. It was a small job relative to the work I just had done. The price quoted was quite high, but I decided to use them because I am selling my house and needed the CO for my deck. Scott told me it would happen early to mid August. I called in early August. He left me a voicemail telling me the job would be done in a week or two. I left two more voicemails for him. He stopped returning my calls and I never heard from him again. I had made very clear to him that I would be closing on the sale of my house and that it was dependent on the deck CO. He just stopped returning phone calls.

Lou and his crew completed the entire job in two days. Their work was flawless...we could not be more pleased with the end result. Neighbors have asked for their card after seeing the end result. They were impressed the job was completed so quickly, and looked so great. We would highly recommend them to others. It was a pleasure to have them work at our home. There wasn't anything we could complain about...they were the BEST!!!

Had the best price and the best design of 3 contractors consulted. Lou delivered what he proposed in a very timely fashion. Was professional and clean.

Salesperson, Eric, came to our home, measured and provided us with the various materials his company uses. He made a recommendation and gave us an estimate that was, believe it or not, 60% less than what Lowes quoted and $2000 less than another deck company. Since we're part of a townhouse community, we needed to go through both management and our board to get the plans approved. Decks Unique did everything on their end that our board required. (We had to get the utility companies, Cablevision, Keyspan, etc. to do "markouts" of the utility lines around the deck area. We called up one utility company and they provided a number to call which took care of contacting all the utility companies). Decks Unique came in about three weeks before the scheduled date and asked if we could do it the following Friday. Here's where we ran into a glitch. My wife was supposed to be contacted so that she could run home and see how high the posts were going to be. She was supposed to okay it before the posts were put up. When she got home the deck was already completed, so it was a waste of her time. We then had to check with the board to see if the posts were too high. In addition, the decking was supposed to be put together with clips, a $300 option, but the contract did not have it so the installer didn't use clips. The installer also was supposed to put in cement footings, but found the footings of the old deck to be superior to what he was going to install. This took off another $100. In the whole scheme of things, everything worked out anyway. The board approved the final post height and Decks Unique took $400 off the price. We could not be happier with the final product. It's beautiful!! Strong points:Price was unbeatable, quality of work, very professional sales person and presentation. Weak points: Lack of communication between installer and salesperson, lack of communication from installer to homeowner. I would recommend this company as long as they tighten up their communication skills.

Excellent. Lou came for the estimate on time which went well. He came back once we gave him the job to go over the layout of the deck and all specifics. He told us it would be about 6-8 weeks before he could do it, but then pleasantly surprised us by calling to say he could do it 2-3 weeks sooner than planned because he had a change in his schedule. They were done in 2 days and did a really nice job.

Salesman, Scott, set his appointments and was prompt and courteous. Used a laptop to show us samples. He also kept in constant contact via email/phone to update on the custom 10' pole we were ordering. As soon as order came in on Thursday, they started the job on Monday. The said they would show up between 7 and 7:15 am and they did. They had the old porch, railings, etc. ripped up and carted away within 2 hours. They worked until 4:15 (and I never even saw them take a lunch break) and showed up the next day at 7 am and completed the job by that afternoon. Overall very, very pleased and would highly recommend. I have used many contractors in the past (both residentially and commercially) and they were by far the most reliable and quickest to get the job done with quality work.

Company representative responded quickly to our email, arrived promptly for scheduled appointment and gave us a professional estimate. He was well spoken, neat and quite knowledgeable. Work was performed within 2 weeks and completed same day. Lou Pagnotti was present to start job, helped with work and called in later to ensure we were satisfied (he directed workers to add a few steps, deck skirts and items to our complete satisfaction). Clean up was neat and we are extremely pleased with the service and quality of work. These fellows are experienced, genuinely helpful and deserve to be highly recommended.

I faxed plans to Louie and he called with an estimate. When I said I was interested, he came to look at the job in person. We set a date to begin the work. A date was finalized and Louie and his crew came and framed out the decks and stairs. His workers were polite and very neat. It was a pleasure to work with Louie and Decks Unique.

They were every bit as professional and cost conscious as the salesman stated. They arrived on a Wednesday and were finished on a Friday and I couldn't be more pleased. I would recommend them highly.

They did a great job on my new deck. I was really satisfied with our experience and they were professional as well. I would recommend them to others to use. I really can't remember the cost of the new deck but it was reasonable.

The crew was on time, neat, polite and the work done was excellent.

Decks Unique is a class act. From the very first time I met them for my estimate, I knew I was dealing with a first class company. They actually called to say they were going to be a few minutes late to the estimate we had scheduled (first time a contractor/home improvement person had ever done that to us). From there, it only got better. They returned calls promptly and helped us with the design of our deck. They were neat once construction began and did a terrific job in building our deck. I would recommend this company to anyone on Long Island looking for a deck, wood or composite.

THIS COMPANY DOES SOME NEAT THINGS WHEN THEY ARE BUILDING THEIR DECKS. OUR DECK HAD BUILT IN SEATS AND CUP HOLDERS. THEY MAKE THEM SO UNIQUE AND DIFFERENT.
