They've done tremendous, high quality work! In fact, I've already recommend them to several friends. They are a really impressive, professional company. Working with them is easy because they always follow through on their promises. They are responsive to any issues, and reasonably priced.
Description of Work: They've practically rebuilt our home. Their work has included a new roof, siding, windows, and a major bathroom and kitchen renovation.

Working with a project manager who was generally very responsive and helpful, several crews accomplished the work. These included: one crew that demolished the old bathroom in one day; two separate groups of plumbers; one group of workers who did most of the wall and ceiling repaneling and finishing, plus tilework. Most things went well but we did have to stay on top of everyone to make sure it all went in as planned. There were a few things that needed redoing before the job was done. In particular, the new radiator was inset into the wall and needed adjusting, plus the first plumbing crew didn't hook the piping up well enough and the main plumbing crew had to redo it. The floor tiles were initally the wrong color and had to partly be removed and the correct tiles laid. After several months, in part due to the first countertop having been discontinued and another having to be ordered (which it turned out was nicer than the original choice), everything but the painting was done. The painting is something the homeowner takes care of. Overall, though the work took longer than we originally thought, the job turned out quite well. Our only current concern is that grout in some places seems to be flaking and needs redoing, which we'll be contacting Alure about. There is a five (5) year warrenty on the work so we're not worried about it. We did our homework before hiring Alure, getting other estimates first, and went with Alure due to the overall high ratings on Angies list, their history as a long standing local firm with a and quot;brick and motorand quot; location. They may have some issues initially with work done but they quickly follow up and ensure the finished job is as close to perfect as possible. We wouldn't hesitate in hiring them again in the future.
Description of Work: We had Alure complete gut our old main bathroom down to the wall studs and rebuild and remodel it. The old tub, sink unit, toilet, separate shower, radiator, and door were removed, the walls, floor, and ceiling were torn down to the studs. An allure designer worked with us to redesign a modern bathroom with a dual sink & mirrors storage unit, new bubbler tub, shower & handset, recessed lighting plus three wall sconces by the mirror cabinets. We had new tile floor and the tub/shower encloser area completely tiled, with a simple attractive strip/flowers design in the tub/shower area plus as a sink(s) backsplash. A new solid wood door was also installed.

Sloppy work and not thorough. The grout is coming up and the bottom of the vanity is already coming off even after them coming back fixing it for a second time. Grout is not even against the wall which makes it hard to paint. grout is cheap and cracks right away. tiles are uneven. i could have done better myself. this is such a sloppy job. I'm embarrassed to say i had a bathroom renovation. would not recommend at all. I'd rather keep my outdated bathroom

On October 25th, the demolition crew showed up almost 3 hours late. I was told by the project manager that the demolition crew would between 9 and 9:30. At 11:00, after no one showed up or called me, I called the project manager, Neal Fusco to find out what was going on. Neal had no idea the crew hadn't arrived and told me he would call them to find out where they were and get back to me. Neal called me back immediately and told me the crew would arrive around noon. The demolition crew showed up at noon to start the job. The plumber showed up around 3 to do the plumbing but had to wait because the bathroom hadn't been demolished yet. The plumbing started his portion of the job at around 5pm and didn't leave my home until after 7pm. After the plumber was finished and left, I realized my heat wasn't working. I contacted the project manager immediately. He told me the plumber would come back the following day to fix the problem. The plumber never showed up and no one contacted me. I called the project manager informed him the plumber had not shown up. He was very aplogetic because he thought the problem was taken care of. It took two days for the problem to be rectified. The medicine cabinets that I chose was not the one that was delivered to my house. When I contacted the sale rep, Diane Powers, she said that she misunderstood what I wanted, even though it was on the contract. The job was finally completed on November 5th. Two months later, the new outlet stopped working and the wall inside the tub started to crack. I contacted the customer service immediately and it took almost three weeks for them to come and fix the wall and replace the outlet. The wall cracked on two more occasions and it took almost 3 weeks for them to come back out and fix the problem. I contacted customer service on August 19, 2010 becasue the toilet would not stop filling up when flushed and it started leaking and the bathroom door they installed wasn't closing because the top of the door is coming off the hinge. I got an email from the project manager around the second week of September stating he would send someone out to my home to fix the problem. Two weeks went by and no one came or contacted me. I called customer service again. I was given an appointment for October 14th.
Description of Work: Alure gutted and renovated my master bathroom. They replaced the toilet, installed a jacuzzi tub, a medicine cabinet, a double sink, replaced the floor tiles, and tiled all of the walls all the way up to right beforfe the ceiling. They also intalled a wall mirror, glass shower door and a linen closet.

In a word, horrible. Sal Vines was to be the project manager. The day of the job, I was handed off to Mark Fuentes. He only stopped by to collect checks. He was never here for more than 5 minutes. On the 4th day I asked the worker how they were going to finish in a day. This was a 5 day makeover. He looked at me stunned. He said," this is a 5 day makeover?" It has been a nightmare. The first three days they were finished by 3:30 in the afternoon. My calls were not returned or I was told not to worry it would all work out. Three years and I'm still waiting for it to work out.
Description of Work: I had a 5 day bathroom makeover. It took them 4 1/2 months until all the parts and fixtures were in. First I had plumbing problems. I was told by a plumber the pipes in the tub were put in incorrectly. These bills were an additional 1,500.00 out of my pocket. Then the grout started cracking and eventually crumbling until the tiles on the floor started to come up. The light in the exhaust fan broke. That they fixed immediately. We set up a date, months later, to fix the tiled floor. This involved; taking out a very large vanity and toilet, breaking up the floor and putting down a new one. One day to dry and put the bathroom back on the third day. I called the day before this was to start. I was told by Cathy Biggers, we were on for the next day. Today is that day. After painstakingly removing the contents of the vanity, I am disappointed again. Alure cannot find the tile that was ordered during the Summer. They have to order the tile and assemble a crew again. I have no idea when it will happen, but my dining room is filled with cartons containing everything from the bathroom. I think I know where my tiles are....at someone elses job.The same thing happened with my medicine cabinet. They called to say it was in. Then Alure called to say it was taken to another job, For the money I paid, I should not be going through this kind of aggravation! The cabinets have exposed hardware and there are cracks and bubbles in the grout on the walls. For that price they do NOT use licensed people, only the electrician and he broke my switchplate. I would not let these unskilled people change a lightbulb for me if they offered to pay me! In addition, I ordered the largest sink possible. My salesman, Rich Reese, calculated the undermount as part of the area of the sink. When I saw the computer print out of the bathroom, I questioned him about the sink. It looked tiny. He assured me it was only a distortion. I have never heard from him again. I would not rexcommend Alure to anyone. Susan M. Hertzan

No one showed up on the 11th, but someone did come out on the 12th. The project manager brought another man out with him and they did the demolition work. They installed only 1 of the 2 lights around the mirrors. They had left and I had to chase him down to come back and fix it. They then disconnected a wire and it was just hanging in the middle of the room while they were doing the tiling in the bathroom. I asked the project manager why he wasn't on site more and signing for the shipment. (No one rang the doorbell or informed us that it had been delivered.) One time, there was a box of tile on my front porch and my son found it when he came home. I asked for a brand new subfloor. They replaced it and then told me I had a pay another $400 to get the other half of the room done even though that's what I originally asked for. Throughout the whole project, we also stayed at a hotel. I don't think the workers were ear marked for this project for only, but being pulled from other projects. I was told that the whole thing would take 5 days, but it was over 10. It was just a mess and they were very irresponsible. I could never get a hold of the manager...just a voicemail. People would come and go throughout the whole project for an hour or two at a time; usually after 2:30pm.

Representative came to home to discuss bathroom remodel, bringing pictures and samples of products. Prices were clearly presented for each selection and date was set for work to begin. Some time later, project manager came to measure area and verify all choices made. Worked was started and completed within time period promised. All materials were exactly as ordered. Workspace was left clean each day and household was disrupted as little as possible. During the time work was being done the weather was unusually warm and humid and my tiny second floor bath was almost unbearably uncomfortable, but the contractors never complained or slacked off in any way. They regularly checked with me to explain each phase of the job and get approval. Also, a representative from the company called daily to check on progress and to ask if I was dissatisfied in any way. I am very pleased with the way the bathroom turned out. The day after work was finished I experienced a problem getting hot water. It was a Saturday, but the project manager answered my call immediately, dispatched a plumber to my home as quickly as possible and followed up that day and the following Monday to make sure everything was resolved to my satisfaction. I believe Alure's prices are a bit high compared to others but the quality of the work, attitude and responsiveness of workmen and overall excellent customer service made the experience a pleasant and worthwhile one for me.

Alure works with subcontractors, so I would think that depending on the subcontractor and project manager in your area, your experience may be different than mine. I found there was a definite lack of communication with the "project manager", the subcontractor and the customer. Most emails which were sent to the "project manager" needed to be sent more than once in order to receive a response. Often phone calls were not responded to, necessitating follow-up emails. There was significant miscommunications in the salesman's understanding of the design elements requested by the homeowner. There were multiple obvious and significant construction and quality problems which had to be pointed out by the homeowner due to an apparent lack of adequate supervisoun by the "project manager". I would never again use Alure and will stay with the local contractors which I have used in the past.
Description of Work: We used Alure Home Improvements for a bathroom remodeling. According to the company, the project should have taken 5 days, but due to some additional work we were told it may take as long as 7 days. Well, the project started January 3, 2011 and was finally finished Saturday, May 21, 2011 (approximately 1 week short of 5 months, not 5 days.) In addition we expected that Alure's management structure and quality control by a "project manager" would eliminate the usual hassles in dealing with construction supervisors. This was an incorrect assumption.

The Alure folks were supposed to come to my home and provide quotes for two separate projects, some home insulation work and some stone/masonary work on the outside of my house. The stone masonary work involved a new stone laminate product they were promoting. The person I dealth with at the home improvement show (where we met) seemed professional and we made an appointment for him to come to my home. The day the the Alure rep (the same person I met at the home show) came to my home we did a walk through the house for all the insulation/weatherproofing work we wanted done. While we were in the basement I was asked if we were interested in finishing our basement. They are a rep for the rather expensive Owens Corning basement finishing systems. I said no and we continued on. After we finished going through the whole house we sat down and he was running some rough options in his head on what we could do. He said he would work up and estimate and send it to me. Then he got up to leave. I asked him about the other job (the stone/masonary work), which I assumed would be the one he would be more interested in since I thought it would be the bigger (AKA more money) job. Even though we specifically discussed both at the home show and the confirmation call for his visit to the house, that I wanted estimates for the insulation/weatherporoofing and the stone/masonary work he told me he really didn't know anything about the stone work. After this he got in his car and drove away I never heard from Alure again. I never got the estimate for the insulation/weatherproofing job and they never had anyone contact me about the stone work. That was pretty unprofessional in my book.
Description of Work: Met the Alure folks at a home improvement show. I wanted quotes for two separate projects, some home insulation/weatherproofing work and stone/masonary work on the outside of my house. In fact, the stone masonary work involved a new stone laminate product they were highlighting at the show.

The job was completed in the promised time frame. The bathroom looks fantastic. The only negative I will say is that their pricing is very opaque. They refused to provide an itemized bill. Someone called a few months later saying that an arithmetic mistake was made and they asked for an additional $500. When we asked for an itemized bill to review and discuss with them, they would rather drop the claim than provide the bill. They did not contact us again.

They were good. They did what I wanted them to do. Their price seemed reasonable. I think I spent $1200 on the job. They also gave me an energy audit and they said that since I have an older house that leaks, they wanted to do an insulation job. They wanted to do a number of things. However, the expense forced me to do just the attics this time. I don’t know a lot about insulation, but it seemed like they knew what they were doing. They did the work in a day. I will use them again in the future for weatherproofing the house.

Everyone I dealt with, from sales to construction was professional, competent and truly eager to give us what we wanted, even if it meant making changes. The room turned out very nice and we have gotten compliments on it. My only complaint--and it's a big one--is that I felt the selection I had to choose from wasn't wide enough to give me what I was trying to acheive. As I remember it, choosing tile for the bathroom meant choosing some shade of tan, cream or white. There were three or four choices of vanities, wood finishes, toilets, etc. Looking back, half a year later, I feel quite positive about the experience, especially the local supervisor of the construction, who, I felt, went out of his way more than once to make sure I was happy with the job.
Description of Work: Dismantled old bathroom down to the studs and completely rebuilt it, from drywall, tile, new plumbing, light fixture, all bathroom fixtures, vanity--everything except painting. They came close to fulfilling their promise of doing it in a week except that something was out of stock and they had to wait on it before they could finish.

My experience overall with Allure was very poor. Unlike the other contractors who came in to give me professional advice and discuss the scope of work, Allure came with a Sales person who spent most of the time giving us a sales pitch. The pitch itself was fairly unpleasant, as a lot of it was based upon fear tactics to try to scare us away from other contractors and use the "all-in-one solution" they were offering. There was an estimator, but he was not respectful or professional. He did not treat us like we were serious about getting the work done and when I would ask about various options for doing the work he was very negative and tried to scare us into writing a large retainer check on the spot. He resisted giving me an estimate, but I pushed for one, and the one he ended up giving me was double the estimates I got from other contractors with solid Angies List contractors. I'm not moving forward with a different contractor. I asked him if he had any thoughts about Allure, he laughed and said "they are a disaster. I get a lot of business from people who kicked them out."

Work started on time and was completely generally within schedule. Some punchlist items remain, but the firm always calls back, keeps on top of the situation. Nothing was broken during the demolition and clean up of the old bathroom and they protected floors with drop cloths, tape, etc. The quality of the work performed was very good. This was the first contractor I have ever used (and we have done major renovations on two homes over the years who actually provided us with a certificate of insurance before the work began. Also, the first time a sales person has called after the job was completed to find out how did everything go.
