Can't say enough good things about this company. They do what they say when they say will, and they follow-up until you are happy. Their price is high, but you get what you pay for, and I would rather wait till I have the extra money and use them than pay less for inferior work.

It went fairly well. There were some issues along the way, as there are with any remodeling project. The design phase was a dream. So much fun to pick out materials with our designer's guidance. Although we ultimately were pleased with the results, the process of doing the remodeling was a bit frustrating. It took longer than we expected to get problems fixed as the remodel was proceeding. Everyone who worked on our project was extremely professional and very courteous, and all our problems got resolved. It just took much longer than we expected. We also found it helpful to keep a list of problems and things that needed to be fixed, because our project manager seemed to have trouble keeping track. That said, we'd work with Alure again.
Description of Work: Complete kitchen remodel. Gutted original kitchen down to the studs, relocated heating, opened wall to backyard for sliders. Designed kitchen to provide better workflow. Installed cabinets, flooring, walls, countertop, backsplash, center island, appliances, electrical and light fixtures.

It took a little longer than promised since one of the tiles was back-ordered and delayed the completion. Two years later I have noticed that the faucet handles, when and quot;closedand quot; do not sit at symmetrical angles. I found out during the hurricane, when I attempted to fill the bathtub with water, that there's a very slow leak when the stopper is closed. I need to contact them and see if they'll do anything. Overall, they did what they promised to do at what I think was probably a fair price, at least if you're willing to pay more than the minimum to get it done quickly. There's clearly less variety in the materials one has available, and I was worried that my finished bathroom would look like every other one they do. But they had some additional tiles and quot;down in the basementand quot; that were quite unique, I thought, and that made the difference for me. I'm very pleased with the final result.
Description of Work: They completely gutted the bathroom down to the wood structure; put in new plumbing, fixtures, tiles and light fixture. They made some changes last minute at my request (different color granite the day before it was supposed to be installed; removed wall-mounted shower head which was redundant with hand-held head, and less attractive than having just one shower head, done when they were all finished with the job and ready to pack up and leave). The foreman was very capable, professional and willing to go out of his way to give me what I wanted.

Great job and great follow up service over the years. Especially recommended are makeovers where they simply replace an existing old bathroom or kitchen as opposed to a total new redesign. Their prices are much more competitive when purchasing one of their packages.

Overall my experience with Alure was very positive from beginning to end. All members of the Alure staff were polite and professional. They arrived on time and did quality work. Jeff and his team were incredible. They were professional and personalble . Even my neighbors were impressed by the consideration they demonstrated. I have received compliments from people in this industry on the quality of the workmanship. I also appreciated their effort to go the extra mile to satisfy my prefences. At every step, Paul, the supervisor, contacted me by phone and visited the work site to check to see if the work was progressing to my satisfaction. I have used Alure in the past and continue to return to them. Though they are more expensive, I have found the work they do and their staff are excellent. Unlike other companies, they have always returned to fix any problems that develop. I would (and have) recommended them to family and friends.
Description of Work: Alure removed an existing enclosed porch and also bulit a deck on the back of the house, which included an outside door.

See what I have written above. I would recommend Alure to friends and family without any hesitation.
Description of Work: We updated our upstairs bathroom with Alure's 5 day bathroom remodel program. We were able to shop at home for the tile, vanity, mirror tub etc. the day the job started Alure was here on time with two very courteous workers who did the demo followed on the same day by the electrician. That was Tuesday. By Thursday afternoon the job was essentially done! We brought in our painter and it was done and painted in 5 days. And it looked fabulous. There were a few things that needed to be addressed and Alure took care of them promptly.

Janice, our sales person was always available and responsive to our questions. Michael, the project manager, was receptive to our minor changes. Izzy and his work crew did a wonderful and professional job on the siding and window installation. Overall, we are very pleased with the work done by Alure Home Improvements. We would definitely consider them again for future home improvement projects.
Description of Work: Our experience with Alure Home Improvements was very positive for redoing the siding on our entire home. Our gut reaction was that they would be really expensive, but they wound up being mid-price from the 8 companies we priced out our siding project. We came across an advertisement of theirs just as we were about to sign with another company and gave Alure a call last minute. We were definitely happy that we did make that call.

The job took several months, partly because we elected a custom bathroom and not the stock bathroom that they say they can do quickly. The bathroom came out beautifully. The main reservation I have with them is that they were expensive and they were not as interested as I thought they should be in making sure every thing was done correctly. The detail they never fixed was that the bathroom door latch never worked. We had to get some one else to address that.

The appointment setter was very friendly over the telephone and our consultant was extremelly punctual with our appointment. We just felt like we were on a used car sales lot. First you look through the book at all of the logos of where the company has been - extreme home makeover etc... and then you get down to options - basically you have 3 - Bronze, Silver, Gold etc.. and then a lot of add ons. The guy loved talkiing about all the choices we had and how amazing the work they do is but he wasn't really listening to us. i felt their selection wasn't great and it was extremely overpriced. We wanted to keep things at a lower cost and were told there was no way to do the bathroom for less than about $13,000. The in home estimator was shocked when we didn't write him a deposit check and sign a contract right there. Sorry, we don't make decisions that way. It seemed a bit gimmicky to be honest, and when I asked if we could use a faucet that we had selected elsewhere they said sure but wouldn't take the cost out of the estimate. sorry - not really the way we do business.

I gained immediate trust from them. Jim Gorecaki, the foreman on the job, did a great job. He is a credit to his company. He also demonstrated a personal interest in our kitchen, acting as if he was working on his own kitchen. I would highly recommend Alure for exceptional customer service.

They did a beautiful job. They had a showing party. I thought the pricing was pretty good for what they did. The work was fantastic, I though it was a little pricy but I think I got what I paid for. They were better than an A. Especially when it comes to punctuality. They were so punctual that they got ahead of me. They had a schedule laid out which said they would be done with part of it by Friday. I had some painting I needed to get done over the weekend and they got ahead of me and finished putting all the cabinets in before I had the painting done. I ended up having to paint around the cabinets. It wasn't a bad thing, but it would have been easier to paint without the cabinets. The cabinets were scheduled to be put in on Monday and they went in on Friday. I wanted to paint before the cabinets were up.

When we first met with Alure, we loved them! They were able to show us exactly what our house was going to look like sided with their fancy technology in their office. Once we had signed on tor the project and they had a large portion of our money, I felt they no longer wanted to take our phone calls with questions that we had before the work started. We actually had plans to use them for other renovations as well, but their lack of responsiveness made us decide to use other companies. Overall, we were mostly happy with the quality of the work. The employees who actually did the work were a pleasure, but the sales reps and managers in the office were a nightmare to get a hold of.

We had used Alure before to upgrade our bathroom and was expecting the same and quot;Aand quot; service and workmanship. They did not disappoint!! They exceeded our expectations. They arrived earlier than expected and put in a full day's work. They left each day cleaning up as much as possible. The total job was completed earlier than expected. The workmen were respectful and responsive. We look forward to using Alure for other projects in the future.. .
Description of Work: Our converted garage to a family room was damaged by water from Hurricane Irene. Alure demolished the sheet rock, replaced the studs, walls, ceiling and floor. The electrical system was upgraded and new CO and fire detectors were installed. New high hats and additional lighting was aslo installed. A major concern of mine that was fixed was installing an inground sump pump with an exterior outlet. A new closet with lighting was also installed.

Mary, the designer, the concept my wife had and provided a design that provided a dream bathroom. Mike, the project manager, went over what we could expect during the construction phase. The bathroom was about 80 % complete within two weeks. At the end of each day we had complete use of the house. The only delay in the construction was the delivery of the sink countertop. The construction crew was efficient and left the sight neat and orderly every nite. There was absolutely no damage done. I would highly recommend alure for any construction.

The ultimate impression on the complainant from the company is that--although the company boasts 60 years experience in its advertising--this was the very first bathroom the company has ever installed. The company was contracted on August 1, 2011 for bathroom installation at a private residence. The start/end dates were October 12/22, 2011. After the start date, the work was so poor that avoidable damage occurred to the home. On October 13, a leak caused substantial damage to the dining room ceiling on the lower floor. Repair was not affected until October 29. The repair was so poor that the company had to return to affect additional repairs on November 14. On December 18, the leak occurred again and caused additional damage to the dining room ceiling. On October 17, piping was removed in the basement and the opening of the pipe was not capped resulting in serious water damage. The removal of that same piping resulted in a serious clog after massive amounts of debris fell into the utility sink. An outside plummer was called to affect repairs resulting in an additional cost of $846 to the complainant. During occasional visits by the production supervisor, Jay Martinez, very little supervision was conducted. The supervisor spent much of his time playing with the complainant's dog. Mr. Martinez failed to take inventory of the products and supplies for the construction and, as a result, a worker walked off the job when bathroom tiles were not found. Also, there were gaps in time amounting to several days within the work period that were not justified by the production supervisor or any company representative. The company did not return calls in a timely manner. When Sal Vines was contacted by the complainant on November 3 after several days of no construction, Mr. Vines conveyed that the work may be completed by November 18. He also argued with the complainant as to whether or not the company was truly in breach of contract. Other than the piping, there was no other custom work in the specifications; all remaining work included standard products and labor. Because of the gross deviation from the estimated completion date, the complainant believes a breach of the contractual agreement occurred. There was another contract pending between the company and the complainant that was drawn on July 16, 2011 which involved insulation installed in the attic for the amount of $2,750. A deposit was made at the time the contract was drawn. Several calls that were made by the complainant to the installer, Hubie Van Meurs, were not returned. Mr. Vines was infomed that the complainant is an unsatisfied customer, and if the calls that were placed to Mr. Van Meurs were not returned by November 4, the complainant will formally request a refund of $1,400. Eventually, after installation was completed, the installation was so poorly done that large amounts of pink material were oozing from several areas of the second-floor ceiling. While this was occurring, the complainant received several calls from Mr. Van Meurs and an installer named Paul to immediately submit high ratings on their evaluation reports. The complainant paid the balance due and never submitted any reports and opted to report aggregate findings directly to the Better Business Bureau of New York. While the insulation was being installed, on November 16, a loud gurgling sound was emerging from the sink of the bathroom that the company new constructed whenever the new toilet was flushed. Also, unseen by the complainant, spacing was occurring around the newly-installed tiles of this bathroom. As a result, a leak occured which again damaged the ceiling of the dining room on the lower floor. Also, there was no installation of an exterior ventallation cap for the new bathroom's exhaust system. The new production supervisor, Neal Fusco, was informed of all matters. After the plumbing department cancelled twice to investigate the gurgling noise, they eventually arrived to conduct an assessment on January 10, 2012. It was determined that the ventilation design was flawed. The new toilet was vented directly from the new sink rather than from the ventilation pipe. As a result, the toilet uses the sink rather than the ventilation stack pipe in order to vent whenever the toilet is flushed. Whenever the toilet was flushed, it drawed air exclusively from the sink. This is what is causing the loud gurgling or sucking sound from the sink. During construction, when all of the piping was exposed, the complainant took several pictures of the piping merely to photo-document the installation. These photos clearly reveal the capped toilet waste pipe from the previous toilet attached to the stack vent that served to old toilet, and the new waste pipe line that vents to the new sink. An independent plumbing consultant hired by the complainant, who listened to the noise and viewed the photographs, confirmed that "an avoidable design flaw exists relating to the new toilet's ventilation with the new sink whereby resulting in a loud sound emanating from the sink whenever the new toilet is flushed." The production supervisor conveyed that there was nothing he can do short of reconstructing the bathroom. Essentially, the complainant has to live with the noise.

Based on recommendations from colleagues, I called Alure shortly before closing on a house. The 85+ year old house had some updates done to it by the previous owner, but there was a long laundry list of repairs and updates yet to be made. Among them were a kitchen, 2 1/2 baths, plaster repairs, and a number of other types of projects. I was able to get an estimator to come to my house shortly after the closing. He was friendly and professional. I explained the time urgency and importance in particular of the plaster repairs to my baby daughter's nursery - we were moving in just 5 weeks and I wanted to complete the plaster repairs as quickly as possible so that I could paint and have time to air out the room before the 5-month old would be in it. The estimator empathized as he had a baby too. One thing that did strike my wife and I as odd is that as we looked at many of the projects, he kept saying they would have to refer us to someone else, it isn't something they do. My wife ended-up asking what do they do themselves, which appeared from what were told was ktichens and baths. But he did say that the most pressing item, the plaster they could get done. He told us he could have an estimate to us in a couple of days. We felt assured, and based on recommendations didn't call other contractors for competitive bid. The couple of days we waited for the quote stretched out, after a few days I tried the estimator in the office and his cell with no luck. Finally, about 2 weeks later I reached the estimator on the cell. He did not have a quote for us. More importantly, it was only until I chased him down that I was told Alure wouldn't do the plaster repairs. Apparently they didn't feel comfortable they could fix the source of water damage and didn't want to warranty the work. This left us in a uncomfortable spot, we were relying on them given the estimator said when he walked through the house that they could do the work - now 2 weeks later they said they wouldn't, leaving us in a bind - only 3 weeks left before move-in to find a contractor, get time on their calendar to do the repairs, and get the walls prepped and painted. The estimator also seemed surprised the kitchen and bath group at Alure hadn't reached out to me, he said his group wouldn't handle now and he referred us to kitchen and bathroom group. Apparently, no one at Alure was checking to ensure the follow-up would occur. He promised he would reach out to them and have them contact us about the kitchen and baths. It's a month later and still haven't heard from a soul at Alure. Which is fine with me, it seemed to me that after I stressed how important the timing for the plaster repairs were and then having to chase them to tell me they wouldn't do it, I didn't feel comfortable using them and hired other contractors.

The installation went very well. It was done in the time alotted. The men were very professional. All scrap was removed and the area left clean and neat. I like the room very much, but if I had it to do again, I'm not sure I would spend that kind of money on the basement. It did pay off, however, when we had a flood during the March 2010 storm. The wall panels and flooring were easily removed, the area cleaned and we didn't have to worry about mold.

I would not recommend them to anyone. We have one bathroom and they took 13 days to finish the bathroom; so we were out of the house without a bathroom for 13 days. What these people do is they come in, give you the price and subcontract the work to others. The subcontractors where doing 6 jobs a day and would run from one job to another; so they don't have enough time to finish.
