The job was done on time and it was magnificent..I still can’t get over how beautiful it looks..,,These doors had iron frames that had to be removed and cutting through cement wall to widen entrance..I told him that nobody in the capital district could have done this..Home Depot said they could not do it..Too complicated..but he did a beautiful job...and I will be calling to do more work in the future..pricing was extremely reasonable....I am extremely satisfied

I paid this contractor $14,000 to get drunk in my house for 2 months. He never finished any of the work in our contract. I sued him in small claims court and won the max judgement, $5k. He sent me texts telling he would pay but he didn’t. I’m still going through the legal motions. I don’t think he realizes how serious it is to ignore a court, but he’ll realize it soon. Apparently the court staff knows him because he is constantly suing to get paid for his poor workmanship. Do yourself a favor and don’t hire this man. He’s a liar and a moron. He also tore up bathroom tile in a bathroom we never had a contract to work on which was newly tiled by a previous contractor. Total buffoon and moron.

Here is the abbreviated story. Bear in mind I don't remember the exact dates, but I could go back and dig them out of my iphone backups if needed... Just not the long gaps in responses - one of which was totally understandable, the others weren't. At the beginning of March, I found dmitry on Angies list, and called him about doing some work. He asked me to text him the information. So I took pictures of the areas I wanted him to repair and texted them to him. We then arranged for him to come out the next week to look at the site. He arrived, and we discussed what I wanted done, including a timetable, and he said he would get back to me with a quote. As of March 18, I hadn't heard back from him, so i sent him an email, along with pictures (again), a full description of what I wanted done, and a drawing of dimensions for the areas which I wanted repairs. A couple weeks went by and I still hadn't heard from him. After leaving a couple messages, I got a return phone call in which dmitry stated that one of his parents died, and he needed to go to Greece to handle various matters. Since my father recently passed away, I totally understood and sympathized with him, and told him to do what he needed to do, and when he got back to contact me. About a month passed, and I hadn't heard from Dmitry. So I left a message. I got a return message that he was working on the quote. I would guess about two more weeks passed, when I finally called him and asked him outright whether he was planning to give me a quote and/or do the work. At this point, he admitted that he was not going to do the work. My issue with Dmitry is that his response times took so long. I understand him leaving the country to deal with a parent's death, and expected him to be out of communication for a long while, and I told him so. But looking back on my interactions with him, I get the impression that the work I was asking him to do was something that was not fun, something he wouldn't like to do. Which is definitely the case; digging up a foundation and putting in framing to make repairs is not easy work. But from the first time I talked with him, he knew the scope of the work and what it entailed. If he wasn't interested, then I would gladly have preferred him to say so at the beginning. As it stands now, because I waited so long for him, I won't get the repairs done - if I'm lucky - until late Fall. Which will mean building the breezeway and garage shells will most likely have to be put off until next year.
Description of Work: First, understand that Dmitry did not provide any services. I had hoped that Dmitry would repair the existing block foundation walls that had been installed for a breezeway and garage (neither of which were built).

Dimitris gave a competitive quote, he was there on time to start the job, gave us good advice along the way, and the results on all three projects were great. For the front walkway we switched from slate to stamped concrete and we love how it turned out.
Description of Work: Dimitris fixed our chimney, retaining wall, and front walkway.

They had previously done work and they didn't charge when they came to do the repair. The work they originally did didn't work. They outsourced the work originally. It was fine originally but it fell apart. The edging cracked and when they fixed it, it made more cracks. I'm just not going to look at it any more.

Dimitris came and removed what we thought was concrete that a previous "handyman" used to repair our front steps only to find out it was mortar mix and not suitable for what it was being used as. That was the reason for the price to be what it was, It would have cost a lot less if we had called him to do the job originally. Even though this was a small job he always let us know if he would or would not be there on a given day and finished when he said he would without any suprises. He guaranteed his work for two years and was meticulous in his attention to detail. We were very pleased.
Description of Work: Removed mortar mix and old paint on stairs and re surfaced the stairs to make it look like new.

I originally called Dimitri last fall (2007) and he promptly returned my call. I explained the repair that was needed (just the side of the house at the time) and he promised to stop by to take a look and give me an estimate. He stopped by the following day and then called me the day after at work to discuss. At that time of year it is difficult to make sound stucco repairs because of the threat of cold weather. He indicated that although he could do the work, it would be risky and recommended waiting out the winter and doing it in the spring. I waited until this past summer (July) to get the work done. When I called Dimitri again he remembered me and promptly made arrangements to come by and do another estimate. By this time the repair area had grown on the side of the house and the front of my house needed repairs also. When he stopped by he was friendly and explained exactly what would be done, how long it would take and what it would cost. I was pleasantly surprised that the additional work to the front of the house only raised the total bill a couple hundred dollars. However, given the total size of the repairs wasn't completely happy with the price paid. However, I received no responses from three other contractors for this same work, so not much to compare to. Also, he took the time to provide a very detailed written explanation of the work and the cost estimate was in writing also. He provided me with a copy and I paid half up front. He arrived as promised with a co-worker/apprentice the following week and spent three days completing the work and doing a very thorough clean up job as well. When he complete the work and showed me exactly what they had done I paid the remaining balance. Overall was very happy with his workmanship, promptness and communication. It should be noted that Dimitri has a very heavy Greek accent and sometimes is difficult to understand. However, he is very friendly and obviously proud of his work. Highly recommended although a bit pricey. The business card I have from him has no address, only his home phone (above) and cell phone (518) 368-2872. He returns calls very promptly.
Description of Work: Medium size stucco repair on the front and side of my two story house. Both repair locations are located on the second floor of my house and the side location was difficult to access (without endangering me).
