Description of Work: Built our home in Bridlewood Ridge in Clifton Park, NY (Rexford).

Description of Work: My fiance contracted to build a custom home with Belmonte Builders for us to reside in. We were both extensively involved in the process. The completed home is stunning. We are both educated hard working people.Ratings:Tile contractor (Bathrooms flooring and walls)- EXCELLENTWood Flooring- In Maryland I utilized Master Care Flooring in 1991 and always bragged that this company was the best of the best. Master Care Flooring placed the flooring in the United States Supreme Court, the Kennedy Center and the Wizards basketball court to name a few...so....the bar was high and I was skeptical about who on earth would meet those standards. Belmonte's flooring contractor was EXCELLENT. Love the wood flooring!!!Joe and Joe who did the Mouldings- EXCELLENTOwen who also did mouldings- EXCELLENTLindsay Belmonte and her kitchen and baths- EXCELLENTRoofer- EXCELLENTStone on the front- EXCELLENTGutters and Siding- EXCELLENTDenise from Plum and Crimson- very helpful!! Best Tile- EXCELLENTCarpet- Our choice-not Belmontes- Carpet One out of Latham - ask for Bob- EXCELLENTDoors- EXCELLENTElectric- Kevin and Connie- EXCELLENTKitchen Applicances: EXCELLENTWindows- Pella (there is a huge selection of types of grids v. clear glass- inquire as to such)Tom was very repsonsive. Julie was great. Issues: The contract called for backyard clearing of 30-40 feet. Somehow we got an 80 foot clearing. After we cried, Belmonte moved the home back to reduce the volume and we, upon ownership, planted $20,000.00 worth of trees to reduce the "open field" appearance.Issues: When it came to place the carpet, the home was extremely filthy, dusty, trash ridden and not prepared for placement of any type of carpet. I fought to not have the carpet placed until the home was cleaned to no avail. Carpet One was reluctant to place the carpet in such bad conditions. Shortly after we closed we had the Master Bedroom carpet professionally cleaned.Issues: When the options were placed in the home, it was a bit nerve racking to see tools and slamming against and around the expensive upgrades. After closing, the kitchen cabinets were extensively dinged (which were repaired) and the cabinets in the Master Bath were totally replaced due to defects- which was appreciated. The worst contractor was the painter who painted the floor base trim. Joe and Joe and Owen did such an exemplary job on the creative and beautiful mouldings but when it came time to paint the trim, there was so much dirt, dust and small pieces of debris from wood and fibers within the home that those materials stuck to the mouldings during the paint process. Recently, Tom brought a sander into the home to smooth the surfaces. I felt bad for Joe and Joe who meticulously carved the mouldings only to have the painter work is such a careless manner around their handicraft.Issues: Cover/protect the wood entering the home while it sits outside to avoid mold.Issues: Get every job change in writing especially any credit due e.g landscaping package quote. Every time I was called upon to answer questions from Tom, I ran to the site so as not to disrupt the schedule. The men worked hard. It has been eight months since closing. There are still some issues albeit minor. A contractor visited the home, called Tom and said: "The lady of the house wants to speak to you"....Through the phone I heard him say: "I don't want to speak to THAT lady right now." The tone did not seem very nice for all the energy I devoted to the construction and was at their beck and call with answers to their questions. He seemed a bit "ticked"??? maybe because he ordered the carpet installation when it was a mud pit and still felt bruised about it. Not my fault that he was forcing the placement at the wrong time. I hope they do not do it again in the future!!! Would I recommend Belmonte- yes. Is the home stunning- yes. In 1991 my Maryland Builder went bankrupt. I swore I would never partake in a custom home construction again- I am still waiting for trees in the front yard that I paid for on hat Maryland home!!! It was relaxing to know that this builder- Belmonte- appears to be on financial footing. Fortunately, I will not be waiting another 20 years for options.
