Due to rainy weather, the project took much longer (June through September) than the four weeks stated. The various groups involved, framers, electrician, painters, were excellent.

He came out and looked at it but his quote was higher than others and he wasn't personable.

It appears to be going very well. We are in the midst of contracting with them and we have been very pleased with them so far. We are in the process but nothing has been signed yet since they are still formulating a proposal. Their price was reasonable. When they came out to give an estimate, I felt that they were professional and that they had the experience. They presented ideas that I thought would enhance the project.

He was a very nice man and very professional.

We chose Capital District Contractors & Decks Inc. mostly because they were the only company that would accept our job. It's a pretty big project and no one else wanted to take it. We didn't have any other options.

They gave us a reasonable quote but we found another contractor that gave us a lower bid. I like how the owner presented the company when he came out to give me a quote. They were prompt to respond when I called and I would consider using them in the future.

I am impressed with the craftsmanship and the attitude of the people that come and do the work. I recommend them to other people looking for a good contractor.

Capital District Contractors and Decks had a good reputation from my search on Angie's List and other resources. I met with Mr. Bernacki and described the scope of the job. He was professional and answered my and my wife's questions. The architect was the next guy I met, and he was very accomodating in meeting me to get detail measurements. Logistical planning wasn't so great - the crew started the job on a Sunday morning unannounced. My wife and I were not even home and we did not receive any advance notice that they planned to work that morning. Material delivery was also delayed a day by the Fourth of July holiday. Normally this shouldn't be an issue, but I was told that the old roof would not be taken off until the new materials were on site. On the Fifth, the crew showed up early in the morning, found that the necessary materials were not delivered, and then left, apparently to work on to another job. Once materials were on hand the job went smoothly. Tim and his work crew are among the hardest working, best skilled tradesmen I have ever worked with. The weather was oppressively hot, but these guys worked without pause. Everything passed codes inspection each time. There were zero items on the final punchlist. In a project of this size, there are bound to be some issues. Tim and his crew worked to solve these as they arose in a very professional manner. I'm not sure how many crews Mr. Bernacki has, but if you hire him, make sure to ask for Tim's crew. Other than this, my only concern is that Mr. Bernacki stated that all workers were his own, that he did not use subcontractors. However, the gutter repair guy and the sheetrock guy were definitely not employees of CDC&D. Fortunately, no one got hurt, but if there was a problem, I wonder whether these subs had workman's comp. The sheetrocker was doing some questionable stuff with a two story hallway's ceiling without fall protection. Overall, I would hire CDC&D again if I needed such work done, but I would get a few more things specifically in writing in the contract.

Overall it went very well. The only caveat is that there were delays in the start up as it was tentatively scheduled to begin in September and never got underway until October hence the B rating for responsiveness. However it was very understandable because the weather last year was constantly rainy and stormy. Also once they started my deck they didn't stop. Very diligent and timely. Worked straight through and on weekends and even in the rain when it wasn't a complete downpour. They were courteous, polite and gave me receipts for every thing and they accomplished it in under a week despite the bad weather. The finished deck was for the price quoted. If you're primary concern is quality at a reasonable price, and you're a bit flexible if there is a delay in the start of your project I would heartily recommend them.

Dave and his crew are wonderful. The new deck is even nicer than I imagined. The price was very reasonable. Dave answers all questions quickly. I'm so pleased that I found an honest and reliable contractor. I highly recommend him and I would definitely use him again.

Excellent job. Room is wonderful. We really are enjoying the sunroom.

This project started out very well! We were pleased with the work and even recommended the company to several of our friends. After the project was completed we noticed that the roof was leaking. I called Wayne the project supervisor to have him back out. I was promised many times that I was going to be taken care of but Wayne never followed through. I feel that once they received payment we were no longer a priority.
