We couldn't have been more pleased with the work that was completed. Sal and Terri were phenomenal! What should have been a much more stressful situation wasn't at all. Not only did they complete work efficiently and thoroughly, they were so reassuring and confident throughout the entire process. They made sure to submit our homeowner's insurance claim carefully so that we would be properly reimbursed (which we were without issue!). Our toddler daughter and dog even looked forward to seeing them every day! At the end of it all it looked like nothing had ever happened to our kitchen ceiling/bathroom floor. The new door in the garage is a huge convenience and was installed perfectly. If you're looking for home repairs, renovation, or construction you will NOT be sorry going with this team. We can't recommend them enough- we will keep HT Construction as our first choice for any of our needs in the future; we can't imagine having anyone else in our home after hiring Sal and Terri!
Description of Work: We converted a garage window into a door. We also had water damage on our kitchen ceiling and weren't sure of the source. It ended up being a very involved fix: replacing plumbing, replacing a vanity cabinet that was damaged by leaking shut off valves....the plumbing had been routed through support joists in the floor when the house was built in the 60's. The floor was actually starting to sag. It had to be jacked back up into place! Our kitchen ceiling had to be cut out then replaced and sand painted, bathtub fixtures were replaced, bathroom floor tiles replaced, a new vanity installed, etc.
Outstanding! Sal and Terri assisted with suggestions for tile and trim. Sal's design for trim of the niches was a work of art. He suggested materials for added seat and threshold, base around floor and finishing touches that really showcased his work. Sal and his "team" where punctual, hard working, clean, extremely friendly and truly a pleasure to work with. He went over and above our contract agreement to help me with items around my home at no additional charge to me. I would be delighted to have them back in the future for any work.
Description of Work: I had a bathroom remodel, which incorporated removing my bathtub and replacing with a walk-in shower (complete with niches, seat and grab bars) also a tile floor replacement and new toilet installation. The shower was a complete build out with tile base and walls, custom designed niche framing, and decorator trim. I also had him remove a linoleum floor in my kitchen and replace with tile (he even hooked up my ice maker). He contacted an electrician and worked with him fixing a lighting problem.

I purchased the deal back in November. He told me he was busy and I told him I would call him back in a few weeks. My father became ill; I talked to Sal about pushing an appointment back. He said no problem and that even if the coupon was expired he would still honor it. I called back before the deal expired and he said he couldn’t get out till after the deal expired but that he would still honor the deal. We started playing phone tag, there were dozen phone calls that were not returned or it took a long time to return my call. Finally was set the appointment up for 8/19/14 and he never showed up. He never called, I had to call him.

Everything looks great. They were friendly and very knowledgeable about the work that they performed. We will certainly call them in the future for any remodeling or repairs that come up.
Description of Work: Sal and his co-workers arrived on time to fix up our garage floor. When I pointed out a crack in our steps to the house they offered to fix the crack, remove moss from the bricks and stone wall and fill in the spaces between the bricks. They did an awesome job! They power washed the garage and sidewalk, filled in a crack and low spot in the garage floor, treated the garage floor to protect it from salt and water. Then they went to work on fixing up the sidewalk and steps.

This customer would not sign my contract. I told him that the prices went up and he kept insisting that I start his job without a contract. I do not schedule jobs without a signed contract. As the signed contracts come in that is how the jobs are put on the schedule. This customer called and demanded that I start and have a portion completed by a said day. We had rain many consecutive days of rain and this work cannot be done in rain. We decided that we couldn't work together.

There was some difficulty in setting up a day, illness on both fronts was the cause. My only problem was we installed a new floor so the moulding was short. We did have more moulding, I thought he would use that to make up the shortage. The work that he did was very good and looks nice. My son-in-law finished of the shortage of the moulding. Love my moulding.

Hammer Time Construction (HTC) came to the house in November to quote the job of adding trim to my kitchen cabinets. The AL deal was $99 for 4 hours of general contracting services. HTC said that it would take two people 6 hours to complete the job (12 hours total) but they would honor the $25/hr cost on any additional labor needed. With these quoted numbers the job should have cost $200 in addition to the $99 AL deal I purchased. We set a date of 1/18/14 for the work to be completed. On 1/16/14 I received a call from HTC that said they had an water-related emergency on the job they were currently working on and would have to reschedule my appt. I contacted HTC on 1/28 to reschedule the work in my kitchen. In that email I reviewed the scope of the work to be done as well as the time and cost involved. In the response to me, HTC said that it would take additional time/work/cost to complete the job we had discussed in November. "The Angie's deal was a discount for handy man work. The work that you need done is no handyman service. I can handle the job but that skill is worth more than a rate of $25.00 per hour. If you decide you don't agree then you can request a refund." The new quote HTC provided to me was for $950 minus the $100 AL Deal for total additional out of pocket cost to me of $850. This is $650 more than I was originally quoted in November. That drastic change is unacceptable and as a result I have decided not to use the services of HTC. I am requesting a refund in the amount of $99 (equal to the value of my AL purchase).

The work that was requested was not trim work but crown molding and fillers between the cabinets which is suppose to be installed during cabinet installation. The deal states that any additional hours would be at a rate of $50 per hour. I also stated that I would be bringing another person with me and that the hours would be reduced to 2 hours. The time that it would take to Install the fillers and crown molding would take longer than the rate of $50 per hour per man would cost way more than the price I quoted to you. Handy man service is exactly that handy man service. Crown molding is Carpentry service.

He is wanting to charge me $750 for the project and I have to buy all of the supplies. He said he would deduct the $99. He called me 2 or 3 times thinking I was someone else and apologized for not having the appointment scheduled. He also called me 4 times the day he came for the estimate to ask for my address. I got another estimate for the job and it was only $400.

My price was to remove everything from the bathroom. Toilet, vanity, and baseboard. Install backer board and tiles and grout. Set toilet, vanity and re-install molding. Caulk and paint baseboard and shoe molding. I would never tile up to a vanity. It is less work but not up to my quality of work. As to the comment about your address it didn't come up on my GPS and had trouble finding your house.

Initially it was a negative review but now it's good. He was supposed to come a couple of times but he didn't and I guess it ended up that he was sick for a couple of weeks. So the day that he did come to look at the job, he actually did it right then. My stairs were bad so he fixed them the day that he came and it was like 14 degrees out there so that impressed me. It was $100 for labor and $35 for materials.

I purchased this service through Angie's List via one of the special limited offerings. The owner, Sal Arcuri, fit my relatively small job in his schedule rather quickly at my convenience. He made use of some of the materials I had on hand and gave me a list of additional materials he would need to complete the job. I volunteered to pick up the materials to enable him to spend his time on the work I couldn't do myself. He brought another worker with him, and the two of them finished the job in two hours. They also cleaned up the workspace and bagged the trash. Another thing I liked about Sal is that he improvised when I had not bought the proper zip ties he requested. The assistant at the Home Depot translated Sal's request from zip ties to pipe clamps. I trusted his judgment which was a mistake. But Sal didn't hold up the job because of it. He used another type of zip tie, and it still gets the job done. Nothing but praise for this company.

My garage floor had buckled badly from tree roots. After the tree was removed by another company Sal Arcuri, Sr. and his crew came in and removed a large triple cabinet that was attached to the floor along with the steps going into the garage. Then, with a jack hammer, sledge hammers and shovels they pains-takingly broke up and removed the old concrete floor. Wow--that is back-breaking work! They brought in crushed stone, tamped it into place, then poured a 4" thick concrete floor. He secured the cabinet back in place with special bracing that he made and then made new steps to replace the old rickety steps he had removed. The floor turned out GREAT! Friends & family who do construction work have told me that they were impressed with the job Hammer Time Construction did. I highly recommend this company.
Description of Work: Remove and install a new and level concrete garage floor.
We're adding on to the back of our house and it's an 8 ft. by 24 ft. addition but it includes the roof and stuff like that and they are going to enlarge our living room-dining room area by 8 ft. back and the kitchen by 8 ft. and it's going to be 24 ft. all the way across which it isn't now, it's the kitchen and the dining room basically. I found that there are a lot of things left up in the air when he first gave us a quote and I had a lot of questions for him and I think my husband had some too so I called him and asked him if he could come over and we could talk about these things and he did, he did come and we did talked about some things and got them straightened out pretty well but there was still other questions and things are still up in the air so then he told me that he would, when I called him and said that we had decided to use him, that was after he came over and we've been asking questions on the written contract thing. We haven't signed anything with them by the way, he said that he would get the permits hold and get things set up and everything and that was probably, I put it away and I don't have it right here, but it was probably close to a month ago now and he hasn't done that because when I talked to him on Wednesday, he hasn't pulled the permits yet, he said he have to do that and then he had to come over and draw a plan and stuff like that so I don't think he's really done anything toward it but I'm hoping he will. The reason that we decided was because of the fact that he did give us a written estimate on it, he was the only one that did that and the fact that he had pretty good feedback on your list, that's why we decided to use him and he was right in the middle of what everybody else had said, most of the other said between $25,000-$35,000 but they weren't really definite about what end of it they were on. He does get back to you when you call him which a lot of them haven't and I can't believe it, we live outside of Syracuse, New York and there's always people and there's always contractors around, it's like pulling hands fee to get somebody to do something.
Description of Work: We're putting an addition on the back of our house and I got a bunch of names off of Angie's List and called them and I got replies but we're going to use Hammer Time Construction, Arcuri is his name. We're going to be using them but he hasn't come yet, we're set for him to come but he hasn't but we did get a quote from him. He's the only one of all the ones that I called that gave us a quote. He said when we decided to use him, he said he'd probably be able to do it around the middle of the month and so I was looking for him last Monday because it's the 15th and he called Tuesday and left a message, I called him back Wednesday, he said he's not going to be able to get to it in probably the 1st of the month so I don't really know. I can't believe that we can't get somebody to do work. Evidently this guys aren't really hungry for work, there was a couple of them that gave me estimates over the phone with like a $10,000 spread on it, like some $25,000-$35,000 and that's a lot of money in between but he was the only one that gave us a written estimate and so we decided to use them but he hasn't started yet. I had one that called me back that it would cost me $65,000 for the same thing, so you can see the spread of the estimate.

I contacted this contractor to provide an estimate on repairing my sagging front porch and roof. He ended up being the lowest bid, and I decided to go with him not solely because he was the lowest bid, but because of his prior positive reviews on this site. I thought that his price was fair for the services provided and my first impression of Sal was positive. We ended up agreeing on the scope of work, and then the work started when he promised me it would. During the project the scope of work changed several times, as we decided there were some details we wanted changed, and Sal adapted to these changes to meet our requests. He spent about 3 full days doing the job, and a few partial days to return and complete parts of the job which were left unfinished due to rain. When the job was finished, there were a few things that I wanted changed or redone with some of the finishing details (trimwork, etc) and Sal returned and addressed all of these issues to our satisfaction without complaint. It was clear to me that Sal wanted us to be happy customers, and worked hard to make that happen. Overall, we are pleased with the final product. I would recommend this contractor, and will be using him in the future for other projects.

The job went well. Moving the steps was a difficult task but they were able to figure it out , move them and move them back without any incident.
Description of Work: A previous company had installed our precast front steps without any support underneath. After a few years the steps started sinking. Hammertime (then called Acuri construction) came right away to give us an estimate. the steps needed to be moved and the area needed to be dug out to prepare for the pouring of the concrete. They set the forms and pored the concrete. They also stamped a design into the concrete. They sealed the concrete and reset the steps. It was a big heavy job because of the moving of the steps. They were very agreeable to work with, and I would recommend them for this type of work.

Sal and his wife Terri came as scheduled to look over both our garage floor that needs repair and front entrance for which we wanted new small porch and steps as well as sidewalk. They work very well together as a team, ensuring that customers' desires are fully understood. We did not go with them as another reputable (as per Angie's list) business gave us lower estimate for similar work. However, we may use Sal/HammerTime for new roof in the future.
Description of Work: Arrived as scheduled to review job; provided estimate on a timely basis.
It was an incredibly positive experience. They arrived on time and were always on site when they said they would be. There was always good communication about what they were doing, what would be done next and when to expect completion of the job. Workers were pleasant and courteous and always cleaned up the work area at the end of the day. We really felt that they wanted to do the best job possible for us, took pride in their work and went out of their way to help us in any way possible. For example, we didn't want to install the carpeting until after the movers had finished, but hoped to have it done quickly after that so that our dog (who has a spinal defect) would be able to go safely upstairs to the second floor of the home. We moved on a Friday and Hammer Time coordinated things so that we had carpet within a couple days' time. We would definitely use Hammer Time again!
Description of Work: The price noted above actually includes two separate jobs; repairs on a home we just purchased and repairs on the home we are preparing to sell. We presented Hammer Time Construction with an extensive list of work to be done and they were able to handle it all. The work was completed in a very timely manner. The work that they did for us included: installing a Bilco door, framing and installing an interior basement door, replacing windows, one of which was a large Pella window with wood rot in the great room, installing quarter round and finishing molding, repairing wall surfaces following wallpaper removal in preparation for painting, installing wall-to-wall carpet, repairing cedar siding, interior painting, refinishing hardwood floor, and closing off the back of open basement stairs.

It went very well overall. Sal and his son were there each day along with other employees and they worked very hard and very professionally. They really know their stuff and we would recommend them highly. Thank you Sal!
Description of Work: The concrete steps leading up to our front door along with the concrete floor in our garage were crumbling. We hired Arcuri Construction to take out all of the concrete and replace it along with putting in a sidewalk that replaced pavers. They jackhammered out everything the first day; removed all the concrete the next day. Then moved on to preparing for the concrete to be poured. We also had the sidewalk and front landing and steps stamped to look like stone, it is beautiful!
