Description of Work: I needed reshingling to prepare for solar panel installation in May 2016. Jim Martin of Switala's was my main contact throughout. He was at all times professional, friendly and easy to talk to. He took time to go up on the roof with me to check out its condition; when I told him his cost was high compared to 3 other companies, he came down on some items enough that I was comfortable doing business with him. The crew was large and did 95% of the roof in one day; a neighbor who had done roofing for a living said he was very impressed with their work. I asked about the venting of the bathroom fans; one crew member went up through a bedroom crawlspace into the low attic (which had no planks to walk/crawl on, making it difficult to maneuver) and verified that the venting was done correctly. The low-slope part of the roof required more ice-and-water plus some brick work; this took several men 2 additional days. This detailed work was done very well. There was of course noise and disruption, but I heard no radio, no swearing, no yelling. The final cost was increased by plywood installed to replace some of my 42-year-old roof; I was advised of this BEFORE I signed and was therefore comfortable with this extra cost. In talking with Jim Martin, I mentioned that I needed a small concrete job done; Switala doesn't do that kind of work, but he sent me references for people who do. This was over and above what I expected from them. A small complaint: I walked around the yard afterwards, picking up shards of gutter, wood and some nails. They did magnetic pickup, but that doesn't get all the detritus.

Description of Work: Other than waiting a couple of months to get in line for the new roof, the work done was excellent and timely. They were pleasant, cleaned up after themselves and it was brutally hot at the time.

Description of Work: Estimator didn't show up when he said he would. Didn't even call to say he wasn't coming. When I called the office to let them know, the receptionist was very apologetic. Guy called later to see if he could come back. At that point , there is usually someone else who will get the work done.

Description of Work: Tear off and replace roof. Looks good. Lots of guys made it go quickly. Communication was good. Didn't like one part of the gutter and they replaced it. Left a bit of a mess in the garden; nails and bits of old roof.

Description of Work: Came right out. Fixed the minor issue and expained what future work willl be nesssesary. All free of charge.

Description of Work: We decided to use Switala's after they did 2 other roofs on our street in the past couple years - strictly observation and word-of-mouth. They did a very good job - we had a new roof put on, along with new gutters and a new skylight. They sent an extra crew out so our roofing work was completed ahead of schedule. The next day, a siding crew came out to replace those areas of siding which were removed for the installation of waterproofing material. Then, the gutter crew came out to install the new gutters. Everything was done well, in a timely manner. The crews worked hard and were professional. Dave, the estimator, came out for a final inspection and to put some finishing touches on the job to make sure everything was done right. Although the various crews did a very good job of cleaning-up, protecting the windows and bushes, Dave did a thorough walk-around, picking up any scraps, etc. Only then did he present the bill for payment - there was no deposit or downpayment required. Overall, a very good job.

Description of Work: We hired Switala's to install a new roof, trim and gutters. They tore off the old roof, replaced any rotted boards and installed new shingles. We also added two sun tunnels at that time. All new gutters with trim were installed as well.

Description of Work: No work done. Estimate was way too high. This estimate was for less that 400 square feet of flat roof. A couple of years ago I had my whole house roof done for less than twice this estimate. It's not worth it. It makes me wonder if this was a way to turn away from this work without saying so -- but I don't know.

Description of Work: They removed and replaced the roof on our home and replaced the gutters. They also repaired some doors.

Description of Work: Tear down shingles to sheeting. Installed architectural shingles, new felt paper, new metal drip. Installed ice and water shield in all critical areas, installed ridge vent, filled louver holes with sheeting, reflashed the chimney and sealed. Installed new gutters - no downspouts. Although, this was the highest of the three estimates we received for this job, we thought the job was worth the extra money.
