I got very lucky when I hired Tank Masters to clean up a big mess left by a leaking oil tank. Brian and his crew did a great job removing all the effected soil and replacing it with clean fill. They know what they are doing and I thought the price was very reasonable considering all the work they did. Easy to talk to and very accessible with questions particularly with the insurance company. You will not be disappointed.

We highly recommend Tank Masters. We were unsure of how we wanted project to go and asked for multiple estimates (based on work to be done and different tanks available). They always provided us with a estimate and never complained when we changed our minds. The work went very well and there were no issues.

They pulled the tank out, they covered it, and left it in the back yard. They left the hole open in the back yard. That was all the work they did. The company wants another $8,000.00 for that work. I am now in litigation.

Response from Tank Masters Environmental Inc.
This letter is generated in response to [removed member name]’s allegations. It always amazes me how these online opinion polls can slander good companies and no background check is ever done on the comments that are made. There are many errors in what she claims and I will respond to all of her comments. First, we are NOT a septic tank company. We are an oil and gas tank removal company which also handles environmental clean ups. [removed member name] hired us to remove her underground oil tank. We took out the permits, scheduled the inspections and removed her tank. Upon inspection, the code enforcer failed her tank because of corroded holes in her tank and contaminated soil. At no charge to [removed member name], I consulted with two of her homeowner insurance companies to try and have them pay for the clean-up, I provide this service for free to all of my customers. To ensure we do not do anything for her insurance company to deny her claim WE MUST leave the tank on site and leave the void open for the insurance carrier to inspect (this is something that was explained to [removed member name] and she understood). After three weeks of the carriers running the investigation it was determined that she did not have coverage. We then were asked by [removed member name] to provide her with an estimate to remove the contaminated soil. We did and she agreed on the price and signed our proposal. We also waved her $1900.00 deposit on the clean-up as a courtesy to her because she claimed that she had very little money at the time. We then began our remediation. We had a two man crew out at her site with three machines and we worked a total of five 10 hr days. At that time I approached her with regards to her deposit and an approximate cost of what her clean up would be. She said she had no money and told us to take our equipment off her property. For the past two years we have been contacting her for the money she owes us on her signed contract for the work that we did, and she refuses to pay us. Tank Masters had to file a law suit, not [removed member name]. We met one time in court and her attorney advised us that she has no money and will file bankruptcy.

I was given a quote online to remove my underground oil tank. It was a fair price but quote said price could change depending on any special excavation needed. Since the tank was buried under my deck, I asked that someone come by to determine if special excavation was needed. He didn't think it was necessary but agreed to in order "to put my mind at ease". I did not hear back from them so I called. I was told that he did come there would be no special excavation needed. A backhoe could be used to do the job A date was set after a deposit was mailed. I was told they would be here between 9 and 9:30 am. I called at 9:45 am that morning to confirm they were coming. I was told they would be here shortly. They showed up at 11:30 am. Two people arrived. One looked under the deck and said he couldn't do the job that day because he couldn't use the backhoe, he would have to dig by hand. I explained to him his boss looked at it and said no special excavation was needed. He made numerous calls back and forth. I also called and they agreed it would not cost me any more if they had to dig by hand. She said she would send someone over to help them. No one came. It was an hour of phone calls before they actually got started. They did as much as they could with the backhoe and then dug by hand. I actually felt bad for them. They came into a situation they did not expect and did not get any help. The tank was at an angle they did not expect and he determined he could not remove it; it had to be filled and abandoned. They called the town inspector and was given the okay. They had to then wait for a special truck to show up to siphon out the oil from the tank before they could go any further. The town inspector came and approved the work. The lady that came with the truck took the balance of my money while the workers continued to finish their work. I asked about a discount since they did not actually remove the tank. She told me the price I was quoted was actually lower than SHE would have quoted me and since they had to dig, it was a fair price. At this point, I did not argue because they were there all afternoon and I just wanted the job completed because we had plans that evening and had to leave by 5:30. I confirmed with her that they would remove all pipes and clean up after themselves. She agreed they would. We left at 6:00 and left them cleaning up. When we came back, there was dirt packed down in the driveway from the backhoe that hadn't been cleaned up. Large, heavy metal pipes were left in my yard. My husband spent 1 1/2 hrs the next morning cleaning up the dirt. I called and told the woman about the dirt they left and that they did not take the pipes. She apologized and told me she would send someone by to get them. Five weeks later, they are still in my yard. It was my mistake to pay her in full before cleanup was complete. I should have held back money until I was sure it was done to my satisfaction. Eventually, after calling them again, they came and picked up the pipes.

It went very well. Took about 2-1/2 hours.
Description of Work: Inspected my 550 gallon buried heating oil tank for oil leaks into the soil. Exacavated about 3 ft of rocky soil to the top of the tank. Cut a hole about 16" x 16'' to access tank. Scraped down inside of tank to check for corrosion and leaks into the soil. Removed oil residue. confirmed that tank did not leak into the soil and therefore could be abandoned in place and backfilled with crushed stone gravel. Excavation was done by hand with pick and shovel. gravel was filled from dump truck. Site was cleaned up afterwards. the crew size was 2 men. A foreman and helper.

Very well. Much better price than the two other companies I contacted. The job was well done. The only issue was a longer delay between signing the contract and getting the work done. True they needed to coordinate with the town for permitting and inspection, but it took much longer than anticipated and I had time constraints.

Called for a quote and they gave me the best price - $700 for an above ground oil tank removal . I sent in a deposit (25%) and signed the proposal. One month later I made a status inquiry only to be told they were waiting for me to obtain a permit for the work. I told them I was surprised as no one told me I had to secure a permit nor was there a discussion of such an obligation on my part. I called my town and they told me the homeowner never secures a permit, the contractor simply passes on the cost and insurance information needs to be provided to the town. I have requested a refund of my deposit.

I had an oil tank underground and they came and took it out. They are honest and did very good work. Their price was competitive. They were nice and professional. The young man that is the son of the owner was going to be 21 shortly when they came out, and he was more professional than people twice his age. I highly recommend them. They really went over and above.
