I use Lawngevity various landscaping maintenance needs, and they always do well. They mow my lawn every two weeks, and edge every 4 weeks. They also do my fall cleanup (leaves, etc...typically two times in the fall), and once again in the spring if it's needed. The workers are very friendly, and Tom is very helpful with ideas.
Description of Work: Bi-weekly mowing, monthly edging, seeding, fertilizing, cleanups.

Not well at all. The project looked good at first, but a few rain falls and some snow, the entire job except for the walls has collapsed.
Description of Work: Stone like walls, steps, paver walkway and paver patio. The patio, walkway and steps, have all collapsed. The step treds have fallen off. Four years of promises, and hand shakes by the owner stating he will come back to fix the problem, has not happened. I had another landscaper give me an estimate to correct these issues. The problem he said was, the sub base was not deep enough to support the pavers and steps. The estimate to dig up and correct the problem would be about $4,200.

$14,000

Response from LAWNGEVITY LANDSCAPE
The work in question, was completed in 2006, but before I address that situation I wanted to say that the forum for which you are giving people to discuss contractors is a great idea. I appreciate that you are giving people a voice about work completed at their home because it serves the reputable contractor well. That being said we are a landscape contractor that has been in business over 25 years and we stand behind out work and warranty. The work in question as quoted to you from the client was quoted to you as costing $14,000. The work performed for the client was in amount of approximately $7,500. The work in question was not performed until the client could be there to supervise all work. We were contracted to put up two retaining walls, a walkway, and associated steps. While on the job, the client personally sat through the whole process, supervising every paverstone, every wheel barrow of stone that was installed, from his chair set up in his garage throughout the whole process. If he did not like the stone, it was not utilized, if he didn’t like the cut of the stone it was recut, to the point of telling us the thickness of the base he required. There was nothing done that was not to his satisfaction. We first heard from him the following spring stating that the landing area had sunk. We told him that was due to an oil tank that was removed. We returned to the house and repaired it. All within out one year warranty. A few years later we heard from him again stating that a step was loose and that there was sinkage to the landing. At a different point in time the client came to our place of business and I met with him and told him I would return and take care of the situation. Soon thereafter we received notification from an attorney stating their intent to sue and bill for an estimate of repair from Boyce Excavating in the amount of approximately $8,700. We then contacted the attorney who proceeded to tell us we needed to contact the client directly that he was not involved with this case beyond writing the threatening letter. Boyce Excavating is a multi-million dollar company in the area that build office complexes and hospitals. I tend to doubt that they would be involved with this issue. Those series of events ruined my good faith, which was just cemented when they contacted you and quoted you that the job was $14,000, and the price of the repair is $4,200. Which is also a different amount from the threatening letter we received. So as you can see nothing is consistent or truthful. We stand by our work and our warranties and were willing to go outside of that warranty period for the client three years later. This job is now almost six years old. Do you screen your customer for the validity of their story? The work in question has also been through a hurricane, a blizzard and not to mention six substantial winters, if the work was sub-par why aren’t the retaining walls in question. Thank you for your attention to this matter. Paul Elfers, Lawngevity Landscape & Construction, LLC
